As the year draws to a close, Kotka-based melodic alternative metal masters Marianas Rest invite friends of mournful melancholic tunes to join a special evening unlike any ordinary concert.
The show will take place December 10, at On The Rocks, inHelsinki (FI). Tickets are available HERE
The Last Dance:A Night of Remembrance is a journey through loss, grief, and the passage of time. Throughout the evening, band will revisit their entire five-album journey, performing songs from every chapter of their career.
For one night only, Marianas Rest will present two distinct sets:
An intimate semi-acoustic performance revealing a more stripped-down and vulnerable side of the band. In this setting, the stories behind the songs take on new life, giving their emotions and narratives room to breathe.
The evening’s electric set will feature beloved fan favorites alongside a selection of rarities, deep album cuts, and long-forgotten songs. Some of these tracks have not been performed live in years, and they can not promise when they will be heard again.
Join Marianas Rest for the last slows, and perhaps a few fast ones as well.
Marianas Rest is a melodic death/doom band originating from the Finnish coastal town of Kotka. Their music comes heavy and without a hurry. Doom and post metal influence the sound, but overall Marianas Rest is a melting pot of all things melancholic.
The band invites the listeners to travel to a dark and disturbing yet beautiful place that feels warm and welcoming yet haunting and hopeless.
“The Bereaved”, the band’s 5th full-lenght album, is including 10 compositions about several forms of loss, longing and lamentation. The album was released January 2026 and landed #3 at Finnish physical album chart. It was 4th album in row to hit the finnish top 10.

Finnish doom-laden death metal force MARIANAS REST have unveiled a brand new lyric video for “Rat In The Wall”, featuring guest vocals by Okko Solanterä (Horizon Ignited), taken from their latest studio album “The Bereaved”, which was released in January via Noble Demon.
Following the album’s success, “The Bereaved” entered Finland’s physical album charts at number three, marking MARIANAS REST’s fourth consecutive Top 10 release. After an extensive Finnish tour and a run through major Central European cities, the band now return with the new lyric video while preparing for upcoming festival appearances.
See Marianas Rest at the following festivals in Finland: 11.7. Kotka, Dark River Festival 17.7. Laukaa, John Smith Rock Festival 14.8. Tampere, Saarihelvetti
Blending crushing heaviness with their trademark melancholic atmosphere, “Rat In The Wall” showcases MARIANAS REST’s ability to fuse bleak intensity with haunting melodic depth.
MARIANAS REST comment on the songwriting process behind the track: “Rat in the wall was one of those very classic Marianas Rest writing processes. Demoing tons of different melodies, harmonies and instrument-layers and playing around with different ideas. Finally, when the time came to actually finalize the song, it was mostly about picking what combinations of melodies and passages to use to create the right atmosphere. The intro of the song is quite unusual and atypical for us, and it came to be messing around with the feedback knobs on a delay pedal while recording. We thought it sounded cool.“
Vocalist Jaakko Mäntymaa shares insight into the lyrical theme of the song: “If you have ever tried to save someone from themselves, you probably get what this song is about. Sometimes it can be done, sometimes not. Always worth the effort though. We wrote the lyrics together with Okko Solanterä (Horizon Ignited, I Am The Night, Slaughterror). We were so much on the same page that the whole process was almost automatic. The struggle is real and I think you hear it in the song.“

From the dark shores of the Baltic Sea, MARIANAS REST channel the deep melancholy of their homeland. Hailing from the southeastern Finnish town of Kotka, the band was formed in 2013 and has since become a powerful force in the world of melancholic death metal.
Their music is heavy and unhurried, blending elements of doom, death, and post-metal into a sound that is both crushing and beautiful. MARIANAS REST don’t just write songs – they createmoods: haunting, immersive, and emotionally devastating. A journey into darkness that, strangely, feels both familiar and comforting.
The band’s fifth full-length, “The Bereaved”, is a deeply personal tale of death and the many forms in which the end may appear. We meet these Finnish axemen in the midst of memorial, tortured by those do’s or don’ts of individuals left behind, even though some indeed pity the living and envy the dead. At such times, who is more blessed, the deceased or the bereaved?
Again, just like on their previous albums, the melodies are the key for an unique soundtrack for the ongoing struggle against the black clouds that seem to gather around us all every now and then.
When it comes to MARIANAS REST’s music, sometimes slow, deep and hard, on some occasions a bit faster and aggressive attacks, it sure does include that x-factor of Finnish DNA, that embraces melancholy and beauty on such level that makes one’s hair stand every single time.

Finnish doom-laden death metal force MARIANAS REST have released their long-awaited fifth studio album, “The Bereaved”, out now via Noble Demon. To mark the occasion, the band also unveil a brand new music video for the album track “Again Into the Night”, a deeply emotional and atmospheric piece that perfectly captures the album’s bleak yet cathartic spirit.
“‘Again Into the Night’ stands as one of the earliest compositions written for The Bereaved and reflects the band’s willingness to explore new sonic territories while staying true to their melancholic roots. ‘Again Into the Night‘ was probably one of the first if not the first demo we had for this album. It kind of worked as a playground to try out new stuff, new ways of expression, that we could use in the future. Fun song to jam to in the rehersal grounds,” Guitarist Nico Mänttäri comments.
Vocalist Jaakko Mäntymaa adds: “This song had the right feel straight from the start. It doesn’t happen often, unfortunately. It’s about fatigue. How you feel like giving up, when things go sour for the hundredth time. We’ve all been there. Hopefully it can remind people how important it is to just keep hanging on. No matter how it hurts.“

Over the course of four albums – Horror Vacui (2016), Ruins (2019), Fata Morgana (2021), and Auer (2023) – the band has explored themes of isolation, despair, and conflict with uncanny timing. Fata Morgana was the closing chapter of a trilogy written before the pandemic but released at its peak. Auer was completed just before military unrest erupted in Europe – a coincidence too eerie to script.

Finnish doom-laden death metal force MARIANAS REST continue their march toward the release of their upcoming fifth studio album, “The Bereaved”, due out January 16, 2026, via Noble Demon. Following the darkly emotional first single “The Colour of You”, the band now presents their second offering, “Diamonds in the Rough” – a gripping and dynamic piece accompanied by a brand new music video, directed by Johannes Mäkinen / Downtime Visual Arts. The song also features a striking guest appearance by Okko Solanterä (Horizon Ignited, Slaughterror), whose powerful vocal performance elevates the track to new heights.
Vocalist Jaakko Mäntymaa reflects on the song’s lyrical theme: “I have always had an issue with how we tend to remember those passed. You know, concentrating excessively on the good sides of a person and downplaying imperfections, the whole ‘don’t speak ill of the dead’ thing. What could honor a person more than seeing and remembering him as a whole, flaws and all? This song celebrates memories that stick to what really happened.“
Guitarist Nico Mänttäri adds: “Even though usually our music is more about slowly building atmospheres and long and lingering songs, on occasion it is nice to venture a bit more -to the point- rock’n roll type of stuff. This piece ended up being one of those experiments. We had had talks with our dear friend Okko (Solanterä) about doing a feature on this album, and once he ripped his vocal delivery on the chorus of the song, all just fell into place. Really looking forward to playing this one live.”

Finnish doom-laden death metal force MARIANAS REST have officially announced the release of their highly anticipated fifth studio album, “The Bereaved”, set to drop on January 16, 2026, via their new label home Noble Demon.
To mark the occasion, the band has released the first single and haunting music video for “The Colour of You” – a track that sets the emotional and sonic tone for what may be their most personal and devastating album to date.
“When we started composing The Colour we didn’t see it ending up as a love song, but here we are,” comments vocalist Jaakko Mäntymaa. “Like the whole album, this song deals with personal loss. Sometimes it may be healthier to forget than to cling on to memories no matter how cherished they are.”
Guitarist Nico Mänttäri adds: “At first we had an acoustic demo with some string arrangements that we didn’t exactly know what to do with. We went back and forth with a couple of ideas but it didn’t seem to hit the right nerve. Then when the idea of what the song could be about, it was a light bulb over the head type of a situation, and it took maybe half an hour to get the arrangement sorted.”
