LION’S SHARE guitarist Lars Chriss and former CANDLEMASS singer Messiah Marcolin will join Canadian metal legends ANVIL for a special one-song performance at their upcoming show in Stockholm, Sweden, on October 26th.

When it comes to the most influential bands in the history of heavy metal, authorities on the subject regularly vote ANVIL among the top positions. The group from Toronto, Canada, with its two masterminds, guitarist/vocalist Steve “Lips” Kudlow and drummer Robb Reiner, and bassist Chris Robertson, not only looks back at an impressive career with countless highlights — as well as a number of well-documented difficulties — but has also had a lasting influence on lots of internationally renowned musicians, from METALLICA to SLAYER and beyond.

Both Chriss and Marcolin cite ANVIL as a major influence, having discovered the band during their teenage years in the early ’80s with classic albums such as Hard ‘n’ Heavy, Metal on Metal, and Forged in Fire.”

New AMON AMARTH Album To Feature Guest Vocals By Former CANDLEMASS Singer

Swedish death metallers AMON AMARTH have enlisted former CANDLEMASS singer Messiah Marcolin to lay down guest vocals on their new album, due in June via Metal Blade Records. The CD is being helmed by British producer Andy Sneap, who has previously worked with (MEGADETH, EXODUS, MACHINE HEAD, ARCH ENEMY and ACCEPT.

Regarding AMON AMARTH‘s decision to work with Sneap after utilizing Jens Bogren for the band’s last three studio efforts (2006’s “With Oden On Our Side”, 2008’s “Twilight Of The Thunder God” and 2011’s “Surtur Rising”), AMON AMARTH guitarist Olavi Mikkonen told Decibel magazine, “We were looking for a change, and Andy has been in our thoughts for some years now. After meeting with him, we felt a good connection. We think this is going to be a ripper.”

Former CANDLEMASS singer Messiah Marcolin joined Swedish metallers WOLF on stage at the 2011 edition of Muskelrock — a two-day festival was held June 2-4 in Tyrolen outside Växjö, Sweden — to perform the DEEP PURPLE classic “Black Night”. Some of Sweden’s finest heavy metal musicians gathered to pay tribute to Ronnie James Dio during this fall’s edition of the Sweden Rock Cruise, which sailed on October 7, 2010 from Stockholm, Sweden for Åbo, Finland and returned the following day. There was a long tribute concert with a number of guest musicians performing classic songs from Dio’s career with a main band consisting of members of Lion’s Share.

The following artists were scheduled to perform with LION’S SHARE at the event:

Björn Gelotte and Peter Iwers (IN FLAMES), Joacim Cans (HAMMERFALL), Ian Haugland (EUROPE), Mikael Åkerfeldt (OPETH), Jens Johansson (STRATOVARIUS, ex-DIO), Messiah Marcolin (ex-CANDLEMASS), Johan Edlund (TIAMAT), Joakim Berg and Magnus “Adde” Andreasson (HARDCORE SUPERSTAR), Johan Hegg (AMON AMARTH), Mike Wead (BIBLEBLACK, KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE). The show ended with all artists performing Hear ‘N Aid’s “Stars”.
