British power/melodic metallers POWER QUEST have a great musical history to look back on, spanning twelve years and five albums. Sadly, the band started by keyboardist Steve Williams has now come to end and they played their final show, an epic 75 minute set at this years Bloodstock Festival.

To find out more about this decision and how the final show went, Metal Shock Finland‘s Blackdiamond had a chat with bass player Paul Finnie and drummer Rich Smith on a sunny Bloodstock Saturday evening. An excerpt can be read here and you can listen to the conversation on the audio player below:

About the decision to end the band, Paul stated:

“It’s an economical decision, it’s hard these days for bands to make it. But people will be doing stuff, keep watching everyone that’s in the band.

Today I almost wept in the middle of a song, I realised every person in the tent was singing our song to us. That is the moment I’ve always wanted, it was amazing.”

Legendary English metallers HELL began their career in 1982 and never quite achieved the recognition they so deserved back then.

But luckily the band resurrected themselves from the flames back onto the metal scene with the release of their album “Human Remains” in 2011. The album features new recordings of HELL classics from the 1980’s. Since the album’s release, HELL have gained a massive following and have played many shows throughout Europe.

The band last played at Bloodstock two years ago and made a dramatic comeback on their home soil, giving the fans one of the most memorable performances of the weekend.

Metal Shock Finland‘s Blackdiamond caught up with drummer Tim Bowler and guitarist Andy Sneap after their spectacular show on the Ronnie James Dio stage. When asked about the new HELL album being recorded, Andy stated:

“We’ve got seven songs recorded so far. I start on Monday with Dave doing vocals on those. There’s a couple of songs we’ve still got to sort out arrangements. There are four or five older songs that we’ve revamped from the ’80’s and the rest is all new stuff.”

Tim added:

“There’s some really good new stuff, it’s really exciting. It’s a darker album than we’ve done before. It’s more interesting, I think it’s just moved on.”

Andy went on to talk about the album release:

“The label are working towards November 4th. I think the album will be with them by the end of August, beginning of September. The tour [Defenders Of The Faith] starts November 6th, so the whole point is to try and get it out for that tour.”

Discussing his role as a producer, Andy said the following:

“I’ll be in the studio till 2am! I’ve always been really picky with things – back when I was playing with SABBAT I was always sat at the producers shoulder, telling him what to do and I didn’t even know what I was doing then! I think I’m a bit of a control freak to be honest.”

Modern metal/hardcore five piece band ELITHIA, hailing from the South West Of England became known after winning Plymouth Battle Of the Bands contest in 2010. The band released their debut EP “No Time For Mercy” a couple of years ago and have just been working on their brand new EP which is due for release later this year.

Legendary German metallers ACCEPT have had an extremely busy last few years, since their explosive comeback to the worldwide metal scene with their highly successful “Blood Of The Nations” album in 2010. Then came the release of another great heavy album in the shape of “Stalingrad” last year, which the band have done extensive touring with and most recently at many summer festivals.

ACCEPT‘s penultimate festival appearance this summer was at Bloodstock Open Air 2013, where Metal Shock Finland‘s Ali Blackdiamond caught up with one of the most friendly metal musicians, guitarist Wolf Hoffmann.

The interview took place before ACCEPT‘s show on the Friday evening, a review of which can be read at this location. You can read some excerpts below and watch the full interview on the video or listen to the audio player below:

Discussing festivals, Wolf expressed his thoughts about them:

“I love them because it’s almost like a party atmosphere. When you do your own headlining shows it’s all on you – you bring your own production and you worry about how the day goes down, but here you get told what to do. (smiles) You show up, do your thing and the rest is just having a good time, not very stressful!”

When asked about the next ACCEPT album, Wolf said:

“Our upcoming album is hopefully going to be out next year. We’ve started working on writing some songs, we haven’t recorded anything yet. But over the winter and maybe early next year we’ll start recording it and try to make it every bit as good as the last one, maybe even better if we succeed, we’ll see. It’s going to be as heavy as the rest!”

On his next solo classical album, Wolf revealed:

“There’s a lot of it done already, but still a lot to do. Whenever I have some free time when I’m not working for ACCEPT, that’s what I work on. I spent the last few days with Andy Sneap working on new material – we’re getting ready to get the first glimpse of these new tracks. It’s gonna be next year before it’s released, I’ll not start recording till January or February.”

Manchester four piece progressive metallers BETRAEUS released their debut EP “Towards The Sun,” in 2011 which reached number 3 position on the Scuzz TV chart. The band have been playing many shows around the UK and Metal Shock Finland‘s Blackdiamond caught up with Eddie and Paddy at Bloodstock after their performance on the Sophie Lancaster stage.

Manchester based melodic death metallers INCASSUM released their debut album “Rites Of Passage” late in 2012 and have since been touring the UK. The band played on the Jager stage at Bloodstock Open Air 2013.

Metal Shock Finland‘s Blackdiamond caught up with John, Joe and Chris from the band prior to their performance and discussed all the news and upcoming events for INCASSUM as well as their Bloodstock favourites.
