POWER QUEST, the renowned melodic power metal band based in the UK just released a brand new digital single called “Now Is the Time” via Inner Wound Recordings. The single is available on all digital platforms.
Steve Williams of Power Quest comments on the new single “This song is really about making the most of your opportunities in life as they seldom come knocking on your door more than once. A realization, if you will, that as we get older these chances diminish. So take a chance while you can and don’t end up looking back and regretting the fact you let things slip away. Musically, a mid paced stomper with a stadium rock vibe and some cracking guitar work from Glyn Williams. Maybe a hint of Lordi meets Edguy for example haha! Hope you enjoy it!”
Metal Shock Finland’s Alison Booth also has a radio show, Blackdiamond’s Metal Mayhem -which has now been going for 7 years, but is celebrating its 6th birthday on http://www.totalrock.com! Tuesday 11th December is set to be a very special edition of the show, starring some awesome guests – Niklas Stålvind, front man of WOLF and Steve Williams and George ‘The Kid’ Karafotis of POWER QUEST!
Tune in from 6PM GMT to find out all the latest from both bands, you won’t want to miss it!

POWER QUEST are delighted to welcome guitarist George “The Kid” Karafotis into the band. Hailing from Thessaloniki, Greece, George also plays in the bands Vermillion Days (Greece) and Wild Willy’s Gang (Norway) and was previously a member of Raven Lord and Exorcism.
POWER QUEST keyboardist and founder member Steve Williams had this to say on the matter:
“It’s fantastic news to have George as part of the band. I’ve known him for a couple of years now and our drummer Rich has known him for 5 years since they played together in Raven Lord. George obviously brings a highly skilled level of guitar playing to the table but in addition to that he also brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. On top of that he’s just a bloody nice bloke haha! I look forward to hitting the road and the studio with George in the months and years to come. Welcome aboard matey”
George recently travelled to Southampton, UK to meet the band and undertake his first photo shoot as a PQ member ahead of rehearsals and live shows coming later in the year.
George commented as follows:
“I can’t even describe how happy and excited I am for this new era! It feels so amazing to be a part of this great group of smart, hard working and really talented musicians. I felt so welcome from the very first minute during the photo shoot that I wasn’t even sure if I was a new member or if we had been playing together for a few years. I could feel the chemistry already. It was like the perfect balance of espresso and milk in a good hot cappuccino, hahaha!
When I first met Rich, he introduced me to Power Quest and I must say that I got stuck with the Blood Alliance album for many months, so when Steve contacted me about the guitarist’s position some weeks ago, I felt that it was a straight “YES” before we even talked about the rest of the band’s obligations.
I am really looking forward to hitting the road and the studio with my mates and deliver some high quality power metal to all of our friends/fans for many years to come! The Quest just started for me, see you all soon \m/”
It’s not an April Fools joke, it’s not a rumour, the hype is real! POWER QUEST has returned after a three year absence from the scene and are currently working on new material for the sixth PQ record.
Band leader Steve Williams had this to say via the band’s official Facebook page:
“I’m genuinely thrilled to be bringing PQ back from the shadows. I’ve had a lot of ups and downs over the past few years but I cannot wait to unleash the new line up. The atmosphere in the rehearsal room over the past couple of months has been electric and it feels great to be back doing what I love most.”
Alongside Steve are Power Quest stalwarts Rich Smith (drums), Gav Owen (guitar) and Paul Finnie (bass). Completing the new look line up are Dan Owen (guitar and twin brother of Gav) and new vocalist Ashley Edison who also fronts UK outfit DENDERA.

The band has parted ways with Napalm Records but would like to thank them for all their work in the past. Discussions regarding new label partnerships will begin in due course.
Massive thanks to all our fans who have kept the PQ flame burning these past few years and we can’t wait to see you all on the road! The Quest MUST go on!

British power/melodic metallers POWER QUEST have a great musical history to look back on, spanning twelve years and five albums. Sadly, the band started by keyboardist Steve Williams has now come to end and they played their final show, an epic 75 minute set at this years Bloodstock Festival.
To find out more about this decision and how the final show went, Metal Shock Finland‘s Blackdiamond had a chat with bass player Paul Finnie and drummer Rich Smith on a sunny Bloodstock Saturday evening. An excerpt can be read here and you can listen to the conversation on the audio player below:
About the decision to end the band, Paul stated:
“It’s an economical decision, it’s hard these days for bands to make it. But people will be doing stuff, keep watching everyone that’s in the band.
Today I almost wept in the middle of a song, I realised every person in the tent was singing our song to us. That is the moment I’ve always wanted, it was amazing.”
