Metal Shock Finland’s Mohsen Fayyazi has conducted an interview with musician Arjen Anthony Lucassen, and asked him about his upcoming album, Ayreon and his future plan. When asked about when he wil start Ayreon again, Arjen said “No idea , because I basically never plan, no idea what I’m going to do next … I think it’s about the time … it’s become harder to invest in Ayreon as you can imagine it’s very expensive to hire all the singers and fly them over here and if my CDs don’t sell anymore, I wont have money anymore, so that’s a little bit of a problem that I forsee with the next Ayreon album.”
Arjen describes his upcoming solo album, “Lost In The New Real”, and Mr L. – “Mr L. is shortened for Mr. Lucassen which is my name, basically the story is quite simple as it’s a real story, as a lot of people freeze themselves because of diseases and hope in the future they can find a cure for these diseases… I was wondering what does the world look like after hundreds of years, that’s basically the planet of this story and will they able to adapt with this strang new world?! Because if you look to last 20 years so you can see how the world is changed, so after a hundred years it would be completely an alien world …” he also added “I want to make clear that this is not a big Ayreon album, this is not a big Metal Rock Opera, it’s really something different. I think if you have a very open mind, your readers and my fans might enjoy this. It’s an adventurous album and very entertaining. I want to warn people it’s not a speed metal album and you need an open mind to enjoy this one!”
