MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist NIKKI SIXX has checked in with the following update:
“Good news… all the songs on the new SIXX:A.M. are finally finished being written. I just played my last bass parts today and DJ is finishing guitars this weekend. We put every ounce of our souls into this album and we can’t wait to share it with you in 2014.”
This past August, Sixx:A.M. vocalist James Michael revealed the name of another new song, ‘High On The Music’.
Sixx commented, “I am so proud of this album from the ground up. These songs are very unique. James, DJ (Ashba, guitarist) and myself feel we have topped ourselves but in the end you will be the ones who make that decision.
We have agreed on the album title and the artwork direction. Photo sessions, videos, going over album cover concepts and mapping out release dates are all hovering above our heads now. The excitement is growing and things looks great for us to play live at some point.”

The fall shows, dubbed “Evening In Hell”, were an all-new production and the band pushed its own envelope once again. The production was designed exclusively for The Joint in partnership with AEG Live and saw the band performing in front of just 4,000 people per show max, a far cry from the arenas MÖTLEY CRÜE is accustomed to playing.
“It’s a completely different show than we did last time,” MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx told Revolver magazine. “It’s a different way of doing a rock concert for us. Last time we went in there, we did something really unique and different , so we wanted to do the same thing. We didn’t want anyone to see us the second time in Vegas and say it was the same as the first time. It was important for us to change it around.”
Regarding the setlist for MÖTLEY CRÜE‘s Las Vegas shows, Nikki said: “When you’re a band that’s been around for 30 years, you have a large catalog of music. It’s an interesting place to be, because you can go real deep on albums, but in general, when we do that too much, we get complaints from fans that they’re not hearing all the hits. So it’s a struggle for us in the amount of time you have to play between playing fan favorites, the hits and digging around and playing some new stuff and some stuff we haven’t played in a long time. But I think we’ve struck a good balance.”
Known as US Playboy’s Miss October in 1987, then Mrs. Nikki Sixx when she married the bassist from MÖTLEY CRÜE, Brandi Brandt today is an alleged key player in a cocaine syndicate that operated out of Sydney suburbs.
Brandt and her former boyfriend and co-conspirator, Crusty Demons motorcycle stuntman Rusty Setser, are in a Los Angeles jail awaiting extradition to Australia.
The pair were charged this month for their alleged role in the cocaine importation syndicate that hid packages of the drug on Qantas and United Airline flights between California and Sydney.
When planes landed in Sydney, the packages were collected by then employees of airline catering company Gate Gourmet.
Customs officers found blocks of cocaine in the toilets of a plane from Los Angeles in December 2007. After an 18-month investigation six Sydney men, including members of the Bra Boys, were charged but the Australian-led inquiries continued.
Ms Brandt – who in the October 1987 Playboy listed an ”empty bank account” as a turn-off – initially filed papers opposing her extradition.
But her lawyer, Anthony Solis, said she had consented to extradition to Australia where she faces a maximum life jail sentence.
According to The Australian, former Playboy model and former wife of MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx has been charged with conspiring to import cocaine into Australia and dealing with the proceeds of crime as well as her stunt motorbike riding and surfer ex-partner.
Brandi Brandt, a Playmate of the Month in 1987 had a warrant for her arrest issued by Australian authorities, according to The Australian.
Brandt lives in the United States and extradition proceedings are underway in California to have her sent to Australia as well as Rusty Setser. The pair are no longer together.
The charges relate to Australian Customs officials finding 5.3kgs of cocaine in a garbage bin inside a plane’s toilet while on its way to Australia in December 2007.
Brandt received $130,000 in wire transfers between July and November 2007 which allegedly came from criminal activity.
Brandt was married to Sixx from 1989 to 1996 and had three children, called Gunner, Decker and Storm.
MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx has commented on the growing trend by music consumers of purchasing and downloading individual songs through digital outlets rather than experiencing full-length albums as they were intended to be heard by the artists that created them.
In a post on his Facebook page, Sixx wrote: “When I was scrounging through record shops as a kid, you usually (unless you just shopped for singles) bought the whole album. I always fell deeper in love with the band because ‘ALL’ their songs spoke to me. Of course, some jumped out at you right away while others grew on you, but you didn’t skip any songs; you would listen from top to bottom over and over again. “When I started making albums, I always believed the WHOLE album was the adventure. Of course, there is the lead single for radio but when did THAT become the whole experience? “I talk to more and more people every day who tell me they only buy singles now. iTunes hasn’t helped for that, of course. “We have asked them many times to bundle our album as one download so fans wouldn’t cherry pick the hits and miss the hidden gems, but it’s not part of their business model. “I love iTunes and buy music almost daily from it, but it still frustrates me. I just wish more people clicked ‘BUY ALBUM.’ Maybe I am old-fashioned in how I believe music should be listened to, but I refuse to ever buy just a band’s single. I always buy the WHOLE album. I encourage you to do the same. “Technology may have changed, but the fact that a band makes a WHOLE album for you hasn’t. Dig deep and I promise you, you will fall deeper in love with the artist than you ever could only listening to one song.”
In a 2011 interview with RollingStone.com, MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee spoke about not wanting to make albums anymore. He said: “As far as making new music, I’m sure we will. There’s nothing official laid out yet. What I meant was just making records to make records doesn’t seem like that’s got much of a point anymore, when people don’t buy records, they buy singles. Why not make more singles more often than these big, long records over two-, three-, four-year spans? Give the fans more music and better music, like doing EPs. I just think that would be a way better thing. Now, making a full-length record, I think, serves a purpose, like, let’s say, when [MÖTLEY CRÜE’s] ‘The Dirt’ [movie] finally gets made. I’d say that totally warrants a full record and soundtrack album. But just to make long-playing records now, I don’t know. I’ve lost my appetite for it, and if you look around at the facts, so has the rest of the world.”
MÖTLEY CRÜE guitarist Mick Mars was knocked over by a fan on stage during the band’s headlining concert last night (Saturday, May 4) at Spectra Place in Estevan, Saskatchewan, Canada.
As the group was performing the song “Primal Scream”, an audience member rushed the stage, bumping into Mars and grabbing MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil before being tackled and hauled off.
“What the fuck is wrong with you, you fucking idiot?” Tommy shouted as the man was being dragged off the stage.
Neil then told the audience, “We might be back,” before he and his MÖTLEY CRÜE bandmates disappeared from view. They later returned to close out the set.

Mars, who was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) when he was 19, turned 62 years old yesterday.
In a 2008 interview with MusicRadar, Mick stated about his medical condition: “It’s no walk in the park. In fact, it’s why I kind of walk like Frankenstein. [laughs] The thing about ankylosing spondylitis is, it’s caused by a gene; you first start noticing pain in your hips, usually when you’re in your teens. What it does is it slowly fuses your bones together — your spine, your ribs… With most people it stops in their 30s, when the disease is still in their lower back. In my case, I have a rare form of the disease that hasn’t stopped, so it’s all the way up my whole back and into my brain stem. It’s literally squeezing my rib cage together, so I’ve lost some height. And now that it’s up in my brain stem it’s hard for me to move my head in any direction, be it up and down or sideways. So I can’t drive, I can’t do any of that kind of stuff — this isn’t a ‘boo-hoo’, it’s just the facts.”
He added: “There’s no cure, but the doctors say they might, might be able to chip away some of the bone growth at the brain stem; it’ll still grow back but I’ll take any improvement. If I could just move my head a little and stand up straight, I’d be a happy man.”
MÖTLEY CRÜE kicked off the most expansive run of Canada in the band’s history on April 21 in Penticton, British Columbia.
The CRÜE will return to The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas for a dozen shows September 18 through October 6.
