Heavy rock legends MOTÖRHEAD, in collaboration with West Hollywood’s famous Rainbow Bar and Grill on the Sunset Strip, have agreed to dedicate their patio to Lemmy Kilmister and re-name it ‘Lemmy’s Lounge’ in memory of rock’s greatest frontman. It is a fitting gesture from the Rainbow, as when Lemmy wasn’t touring or recording, the majority of his waking hours were spent on said-patio. There is already a life size bronze statue immortalizing Lemmy at The Rainbow, which attracts fans from all over the world, and Lemmy’s Lounge will allow hardcore fans and casual patrons alike to sample the wares and atmosphere that Lemmy loved so much.
To celebrate Lemmy’s Lounge, Roxy owner Nic Adler and Goldenvoice’s Paul Tollett have kindly agreed to allow the painting of a celebratory mural commemorating the life of Lemmy and MOTÖRHEAD on the side wall of the Roxy, opposite Lemmy’s Lounge and statue.
MOTÖRHEAD‘s management are seeking a local LA muralist painter that is interested in the opportunity to provide their services to paint this immortal artwork in celebration of our fallen hero’s life. Interested parties should fill the form at www.lemmyslounge.com to submit their resume.

Last August, the artist Travis Moore unveiled his statue to honour the passing of late MOTÖRHEAD frontman Lemmy at Hollywood’s Rainbow Bar And Grill – the singer and bassist’s favourite haunt. A short documentary “Live to Win” has been posted online, where HIRAX‘s Katon De Pena, Anne de Pena, Travis Moore and Mikey Maglieri tell us how the statue came to be from the idea to it’s conception.

The life-size bronze sculpture was commissioned after fans and friends contributed to a fundraising campaign following Lemmy’s death in December.

HIRAX is an American thrash metal band beginning in 1984 under the leadership of vocalist Katon W. De Pena (founding member).  The band was an early example of the thrash metal, speed metal and crossover.  HIRAX is based in Los Angeles but, at that time, because of the weak metal scene in their area, they spent most of their time playing in San Francisco along with Slayer, Metallica, and Exodus, who were all part of the exciting new metal emerging from the Bay area. They released a four-song demo in 1984.  This demo was widely circulated and the band became known and respected worldwide through the metal tape trading underground.  Since then HIRAX has released  5 full length studio albums and multiple EPs and has toured the world including many festivals in South America, Europe, Japan, Scandinavia, and the U.S.A.

Funko will release a POP vinyl figure of MOTÖRHEAD legend Lemmy Kilmister in November, reported Bravewords.com. The figure stands 3 ¾ inches tall and comes in a window display box.

In the video below, Matt Sweeney sits down with Kilmister at the rocker’s favorite L.A. haunt, the Rainbow Bar & Grill, for one of the British legend’s final video interviews.

Lemmy lived and breathed rock’n’roll, but as his impact and influence on the genre and all of its wild offshoots – heavy metal, punk, rockabilly – makes clear, his legacy goes deeper than that; Lemmy WAS rock’n’roll, and a huge part of that was his never-say-die attitude and peerless musicianship.

Ever the gentleman, Lemmy sat down over a drink and a game of video poker to speak on his love for the the signature Rickenbacker bass guitar, auditioning for Hawkwind, his mother’s love for lap-steel, and how seeing the Beatles for the first time changed his life – and by extension, changed rock’n’roll forever.

Playing it safe and getting into a routine can be a creativity killer. Being forced out of your comfort zone to see through someone else’s eyes can be the very thing that breaks down creative boundaries.

As part of its Collabograms content series, Adobe challenged Ken Davis, a gold-leaf artist, and Klem, a tattoo master, to collaborate and create something awesome together. Turns out this unlikely duo shares a common love – Motörhead – which inspired an incredible tribute to their beloved idol Lemmy.
