Inferno Metal Festival 2016, set to take place on 23-26 March, has announced 3 new bands to the line-up: SUFFOCATION, MYSTICUM, MÅNEGARM:
American death metal pioneers SUFFOCATION are ready for INFERNO METAL FESTIVAL 2016! The band is known for being the godfathers of technical death metal and are regarded as legends within the genre. The band will now return to Norway for a brutal night of supreme death metal and destruction!”
We are proud to welcome MYSTICUM to our line-up for Inferno Metal Festival 2016! The band is one of the early bands in the Norwegian black metal scene, with a history all the way back to 1992. Their debut album “In the Streams of Inferno” made furore back in the 90s when it was released, and last year they returned with their mighty new album “Planet Satan”. Finally the band will play in Norway for the first time in 20 years and they bring with them their biggest production they have ever had. This is going to be a hell of a show that no one should miss!
The Swedish blackened viking metal band MÅNEGARM are confirmed for INFERNO METAL FESTIVAL 2016! The band has spread viking history since the mid-90s and released their latest album earlier this year simply called “Månegarm”. Månegarm will perform in Norway for the very first time. So fill up your horns with mead and join them for a great gig at Inferno Metal Festival 2016!
Inferno Metal Festival is the longest running and most extreme metal festival in Norway and one of the most important extreme metal festivals in the world. We are very proud of this position and we will continue fronting Norwegian metal and bringing bands from all over the world to Norway. 2016 will be our 16th edition of the festival that keeps on growing. 2015 was one of the best years in the festival’s history and highly acclaimed and praised by press, audience and artists. Inferno Metal Festival 2016 will be even better!

Norway’s industrial black metallers MYSTICUM have launched a music video for the track “The Ether”, taken from its widely acclaimed 2014 return, Planet Satan. In the true spirit of Mysticum, do not expect the typical kind of video, but instead a dark and cosmic trip – a powerful glimpse into the all-conquering Mysticum universe. Watch the video below:
In addition, the band has also announced its highly-anticipated return to the stage after 19 years, with a main performance at Finland’s esteemed (and final) Black Flames of Blasphemy festival on November 14, 2015. Expect pure hell!
A work of intense and otherworldly black metal power injected with Mysticum’s strong cosmic, satanic and psychedelic overtones, Planet Satan welcomes Mysticum to the new millennium with full and unrelenting force, whilst retaining the core elements which made the Norwegian band a pioneering legend of industrial black metal. Both infernal and nihilistic, as well as apocalyptic in its scope and execution, Planet Satan is a new milestone for the genre in its sublime, chaotic ferocity. Primitive minor-chord riff patterns and tortured vocals mixed with the band’s manic and often unconventional programmed drum beats makes this an eerily hypnotic work of the darkest order. A band that achieved almost mythical status in black metal lore, Planet Satan follows Mysticum’s debut release, 1996’s In the Streams of Inferno. It was recorded and mixed at Fias Co. Studios with producer Sverre Dæhli and mastered by Tom Kvålsvoll at Strype Audio in Oslo.

In other Mysticum news, a themed restaurant called Planet STN had its grand opening in Guadalajara, Mexico. Under construction for many months, the Planet STN restaurant notably includes a range of Mysticum-spiced delicacies from its menu, an endeavor brought about by the owner’s (undeniable) love for the band, mixed with themes of astronomy and ancient ET civilizations (Annunakkis). The menu mainly features Italian cuisine with an entire burger selection compiled of Mysticum-inspired names, including the irresistible and mouth-watering sounding Annihilation LSD Burger! Reports of Black Magic Mushrooms being included are yet to be confirmed. Check out Planet STN on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Planet-STN/1505413303033331?fref=nf.

Emerging in the early 1990’s, Mysticum brought to the world a completely unique brand of psychedelic discordant black metal with insane drum machine patterns and synths. The group was originally signed to Euronymous’ Deathlike Silence Productions label, such was his belief in the band. However, this venture proved to be cut short following his death, forcing Mysticum to look elsewhere for the release of their eventual debut album, In the Streams of Inferno.
