Symphonic Metallers NERGARD have released a new lyric video for the third single off their critically acclaimed album “Eternal White” which was released through Pride & Joy Music on the 21st of May. After 10 years of being a ‘guest star project’, “Eternal White” takes the band in a new direction and is Nergard’s first album with a permanent line-up of singers and musicians.
The whole album covers the tragic events around the Carolean Death March of 1719, with the third single, “Pride of The North” depicting the battle of Storkyro in Finland and spearheads the sound of the new album with its epic orchestrations, soaring vocals and heavy guitar riffs.
This single follows on from the first two releases, “From the Cradle to the Grave” and “Carry Me” which really set the scene for the 10 tracks on the album; a definite listen for any fans of symphonic and power metal music.
Today NERGARD present the second single from their highly anticipated album “Eternal White”. Currently available to pre-order and officially released on the 21st of May through Pride & Joy Music.
“Carry Me” is an epic, power ballad that showcases the dark, dramatic and melodic sound of the new album.
“Carry Me actually began taking shape a long time ago; as the chorus was written back in 2014 during the sessions for the second Nergard album ‘A Bit Closer To Heaven’.” Bandleader Andreas Nergård explains.
“I think the song reached its full potential the moment Stefani Keogh joined the band. She made this song shine the way it was meant to; with her theatrical, emotional way of singing and it really shows off her many qualities as a singer. And with regards to the video, it’s great to have a new face out there with the Nergard name. It’s not just me with some guests anymore, it’s a band, and I want the new and old fans to get to know every one of them.”
The upcoming album “Eternal White” is a concept album based on the story of The Carolean Death March of 1719 and features the well-known Tim “Ripper” Owens on guest vocals.
Stefani Keogh also shares her thoughts on the single.
“Around half way through the recording process, Andreas emailed me to say that one of the songs I would be recording would be a solo track. Not only was this incredibly exciting for me, but I felt so honoured, as a newcomer, to be trusted with an entire song! Of course there was then a little bit of fear as I thought ‘I hope I like it!!!’ Up til then, I had been blown away by everything Andreas had sent me so my hopes were high, and still somehow, this song managed to exceed all my expectations! It builds beautifully, and with so much passion that it felt effortless to record such emotional vocals. Ultimately the story we are telling with the “Eternal White” album is that of a tragedy; it’s heartbreaking and I feel “Carry Me” really portrays the sorrow and desperation of what happened. “

NERGARD was originally founded back in 2010 by Norwegian musician Andreas Nergård with the ambitious idea of being a studio project fronted by renowned guest artists from around the world. In the following years they released two albums featuring some of the industries most accomplished vocalists and musicians including Elize Ryd, Ralf Scheepers, Göran Edman, Mike Vescera, Michelle Luppi, Tony Mills, David Reece, Michael Eriksen, Nils K. Rue and many others.
NERGARD also had the privilege of performing at some prestigious shows, such as opening for the legendary Stratovarius on the main stage at the Trondheim Metal Fest in 2015 as well as performing their own sold out shows. After a few quiet years, whilst busy with other projects, NERGARD resurfaced in the summer of 2020 releasing a tribute single to the late Tony Mills (SHY,TNT) which then inspired Andreas, to start working on new music.
Whilst building ideas for the new album, Andreas decided that he was ready for a new era of NERGARD. With a steady line-up of permanent singers, the group is now fronted by a multinational trio – Stefani Keogh (UK), Andi Kravljaca (Sweden) and Mathias Molund Indergård (Norway).
This new era takes the sound of NERGARD into dark symphonic realms similar to the styles of Nightwish, Kamelot and Avantasia. Entitled “Eternal White”, this new album is a concept piece that’s based on the tragic story of the Carolean Death March in 1719, when 3000 Swedish & Finnish soldiers froze to death during the retreat from the failed invasion of Norway. The story is told over 10 songs which showcase the new dynamic line-up whilst continuing to deliver the high calibre of music that we have come to expect from Andreas and with a nostalgic look to NERGARD’s past, the album also features a guest performance by the formidable Tim “Ripper” Owens (Judas Priest/Iced Earth) on the track “Now Barely Three”.
The band is thrilled to team up with Pride & Joy Music for the release of the new album, “Eternal White”; kickstarting a new chapter in the NERGARD legacy on May 21st, 2021!
The first single “From the Cradle To The Grave” was released on the 9th of April and really sets the standard of what’s to come. It’s a hard-hitting epic Symphonic anthem about the story of a war weary soldier who is a part of a generation that is bred for war. Even though the story of the album and single is 300 years old it’s much relatable to modern history – the pawns in a big political game are always the ones that pay the most.
The second single “Carry Me” will be released on the 7th of May.
This release will be available as CD and digital. The digital version will include 10 instrumental versions of all songs as bonus tracks.
Norwegian Melodic Metal band NERGARD releases the first pre-listening of their new concept album “Eternal White”, an album that deals with the tragic story of the Carolean Death March in 1718.
The man behind Nergard; Andreas Nergård, shares his thoughts about the pre-listening clip. “This song really defines the new sound of Nergard. We’re aiming for a heavier direction than on the previous releases. I really wanted to go full scale Symphonic Power Metal this time. The song is entitled “”Where no one would shed a tear”” and was written by me and my buddy Andi Kravljaca. It’s a song that tries to capture the horror and chaos of a battle, both musically and lyrically. I think we ended up with quite a hysterical but beautiful Power Metal song.”
Nergard has since the previous album evolved into a steady line-up after being a project that was relying on guest performances. “I came to a crossroad earlier this fall and realised I needed to re-think the whole Nergard-thing. All-star guest projects are popping up in increasing numbers these days and I must admit that I grew a bit tired of that. Don’t get me wrong. I got to work with many of my biggest heroes from the rock/metal scene for which I am forever grateful but I felt the need for a change and to do something different.” The last piece of the puzzle was found just a month ago. By recruiting the British singer Stefani Keogh the line-up was completed. “Stefani has an amazing voice that I’m incredibly happy to have found.” Andreas says. “Her voice represents diversity and fits perfectly into the ever-changing atmospheres of my music.”
Nergard’s upcoming album “Eternal White” will see its release in 2021 and is being mixed at this very moment. To fund the last bits of the production the band has launched a crowdfunding campaign where the new album can be pre-ordered.

Special guest: Tim “Ripper” Owens (Judas Priest, Iced Earth, Yngwie Malmsteen)
Norwegian Melodic Metal act NERGARD have announced the legendary Tim Ripper Owens (Judas Priest, Iced Earth) as special guest on their upcoming war epic Eternal White.
“The first time I heard Tim’s voice must have been as a 15 year old kid just after the release of The Glorious Burden by Iced Earth.” Andreas explains. “I remember the moment ‘Red Baron’ was blasting out through the speakers. It was the most insane thing I had ever heard at that point. He had so much authority in his voice and those high notes were beyond anything I’d heard before. I immediately began digging into his career, buying the two albums he did with Judas Priest as well as the live DVD from London. I wasn’t a fan of the song ‘Metal Gods’ until I heard Tim singing it at that show … WOW!
Nergards new album “Eternal White” is based on the tragic story of the Carolean Death March when more than 3000 Swedish and Finnish soldiers froze to death during the failed invasion of Norway in 1718. Tim portrays General Carl Gustav Armfeldt which was in command of the ill fated army.
I wanted to explore a side of Tim’s voice that perhaps is a bit unfamiliar to people. We know his voice is incredibly powerful, we know he can hit those insane high notes. I wanted something different. The song Tim is singing is portraying a man torn by an unbearable burden and he truly interpreted the lyrics in a fantastic way. He really does sound like a torn man and it gives the song such a heartbroken soul.”
Nergard recently launched a crowdfunding campaign in order to finish the new album. The coming album Eternal White is available for pre-ordering alongside previous CDs and merch.
Norwegian all-star melodic metal act NERGARD is taking a break from recording the upcoming third album to pay tribute to the late Tony Mills (Shy, TNT). Mills, who sadly passed away on September 18, 2019 after battling cancer, was a legend in the melodic rock scene.
“I wanted to pay tribute to my friend Tony who was a great inspiration to me and an essential part of the Nergard camp during the early years,” says band leader Andreas Nergård. “I miss his unique songwriting skills, incredible voice and warmhearted personality. I wanted to celebrate his great career by covering one of the songs from Shy. I chose one of the deep cuts from the album Excess All Areas, called ‘Under Fire.’ The song fits Nergard immensely and I am really proud of the version we did.”
For this tribute Andreas enlisted some top-notch vocalists; Nils K. Rue from Pagan’s Mind and Mathias Molund Indergård from Mindtech. Andi Kravljaca (Aeon Zen, Thaurorod) made his guitar debut with Nergard, handling both rhythm and lead guitars. Joining him on lead guitar is Stig Nergård (Tellus Requiem). The bass was handled by Victor Borge, who played with Tony Mills in TNT. Choir arrangements were made by David Åkesson (Qauentice) while Andreas himself handled the drums as always.
“I am so happy to have enlisted all these great musicians to join me in this tribute to the great Tony Mills,” Andreas comments. “All proceeds will go to Tony’s Children’s Cancer Cause. Tony said that no child should have to suffer like he did and I wholeheartedly support this cause.
