Iconic symphony metallers NIGHTWISH have recently posted the first trailer of making the band’s upcoming album online. The yet-untitled creation will be the first NIGHTWISH studio-record to feature Dutch vocalist Floor Jansen. It’s set for a release in spring 2015 via Nuclear Blast. The video can be seen below:
Commented Tuomas Holopainen: “From the moment I start writing the song, I have the story in my head. I have a really clear vision how the songs should sound like at this point. Of course they will chance after band rehearsals and arranging. And they should change!”
Nuclear Blast announces that The Life And Times Of Scrooge, the first solo record by NIGHTWISH composer Tuomas Holopainen and soundtrack to Don Rosa’s graphic novel The Life And Times Of Scrooge McDuck, has debuted today at #29 on the Billboard Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new & developing artists who have never appeared in the Top 100 of the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart.

Directed by Ville Lipiäinen (NIGHTWISH, 30 SECONDS TO MARS, HIM), incorporating Mika Jussila‘s photos of Tuomas Holopainen and Don Rosa in the recording studio, and featuring Finnish vocalist Johanna Kurkela, the official video for the track “A Lifetime Of Adventure” from Holopainen’s debut solo album is now available for viewing on YouTube:
The Life And Times Of Scrooge is based on writer & illustrator Don Rosa’s graphic novel The Life And Times Of Scrooge McDuck, which NIGHTWISH song composer and keyboard player Tuomas Holopainen read nearly twenty years ago. About the video, Holopainen shares:
“The idea of someone dressing up as Scrooge McDuck and then filming him digging gold and riding an emu on an Australian desert felt just a tad corny. The director, Ville Lipiäinen, and me went through some options of how to approach the video and soon agreed to shoot a sort of ‘Making Of’ clip of the song. Ville then followed us to London’s Angel Studios and later Petrax Studios to film some shots from the orchestra, vocal, guitar, and piano sessions. The hero of the video is Don Rosa himself. His presence and facial expressions always put a big smile on my face. I hope you’ll enjoy this adventure as much as we did!”

Dutch symphonic metallers DELAIN have announced the following on their official Facebook page:
“Proudly announcing the second guest vocalist for our upcoming album “The Human Contradiction”
Marco Hietala [Nightwish]
We are very excited about the much anticipated return of vocal force Marco Hietala on our upcoming record. After our collaboration with Marco on our first two albums we can’t help but hearing his voice in some of the songs we write! We love his contributions on The Human Contradiction: Marco adds greatly to the power of “Your Body Is A Battleground” as well as to the melancholia of “Sing To Me”.
Marco states: “I´ve done quite a few visitations on select albums during my career. Delain and their albums are among the most frequent. If you listen to their stuff, you´ll know why. Martijn and his group seem to have plenty to say both musically and lyrically. Keep it up mates!”
