WOLF: Started Working On New Album

Our Swedish heavy metal brothers WOLF have recently finished this year’s festival season successfully. Their last appearance was yesterday, on the Ronnie James Dio stage at Bloodstock Open Air 2015 in England. “The crowd grew as Wolf started their set and were loving the crazy Swedes!” commented our very own Blackdiamond who was side stage at their show. “It was great to see Wolf from a SC - Viper Studiodifferent perspective this time – they were full of energy and delivered a fantastic earsplitting set!”

Now, we at Metal Shock Finland have some evidence that shows WOLF are already starting to write material for a new album. On July 27th, vocalist and guitarist of the band, Niklas Stålvind, posted a screen picture of a monitor on his Instagram profile (which can be seen on the right side) and said: “New Wolf songs emerging from Viper Studio.” Today, WOLF posted a status on their official Facebook page, stating: “Bloodstock was a FANTASTIC ending of this festival season. Heading back to Sweden now to work on new material. Metal!” The band have not revealed any more information about this, but we believe the next album won’t be released for quite a while yet.

WOLF released their seventh studio album “Devil Seed” on 25th August 2014 via Century Media Records. The album was described as “a milestone in WOLF’s career” by Metal Shock Finland’s Chief Editor Mohsen Fayazi.

Swedish ‘old school, new blood’ metallers WOLF have tweeted a picture of drummer Raptor (AKA Richard Holmgren) recording “smoking drums.” Check out the picture below:

The band are in the process of recording bonus tracks for upcoming album “Devil Seed.” As previously announced, WOLF are set to release their seventh album on 25th August via Century Media Records.

”I haven’t been this pleased with the songs on a WOLF album since the release of Black Wings, which scored 10/10 in Rock Hard magazine”, says founding member Niklas Stalvind. ”I really think we have taking our songwriting to the next level on this one and I hope that the metal fans will love it as much as we do”.

WOLF’s Niklas Stalvind: “He [Ritchie Blackmore] is one of the original guitarists”

Ritchie-appreciatedAs part of our Tribute To Ritchie Blackmore week, we have invited well known names in the world of rock and metal to share their thoughts about Ritchie.The next in the series is Swedish composer, vocalist and guitarist and the frontman of the WOLF band, Niklas Stalvind. WOLF has finished working on their seventh studio album and they will reveal more details about the release soon. Metal Shock Finland’s Chief Editor, Mohsen Fayyazi had a chat with Nik and asked him about his thoughts on Ritchie.

 

Stalvind shares his thoughts and opinion about Ritchie and his career:
“He’s one of the original guitarists, you just hear two notes and you instantly know that’s Ritchie Blackmore playing and not many guitarists can do that. Every note has something to say and it’s kinda magical. That’s why I consider him one of the best guitarists who ever lived.”

NiklasStalvindWhen asked if he had learned anything from Ritchie, Nik revealed –

“One thing I’ve learned, Adrian Smith is one of my favourite guitarists and when I worked with Roy Z, he had worked with many of my favourite guitarists. I asked Roy a lot of questions and asked him what Adrian’s approach is to guitar soloing. He said that Adrian is trying to do what Ritchie Blackmore did – every note in a solo never stops exactly on the bar in the rhythm, it’s always slightly floating above the rhythm. That made me feel very good because I do that – I thought I was doing it wrong! It made me realise I did the right thing and we’re not supposed to sound like robots, it makes the music boring. So, when I found out Adrian got that from Ritchie Blackmore, i felt good about my own guitar playing.”

Halloween Interviews: CRADLE OF FILTH, WOLF, HALLOWEEN On Blackdiamond’s Metal Mayhem Show

Yesterday’s Blackdiamond’s Metal Mayhem show on http://www.bloodstockradio.com was a special Halloween Metal Party. All the songs were a fun celebration of Halloween, metal style! Check out the play list at this location. Blackdiamond also included three short interviews, with Paul Allender (CRADLE OF FILTH),  Niklas Stålvind (WOLF) and Brian Thomas (HALLOWEEN).

The show will be repeated on Halloween, tomorrow; Thursday 31st October from 4pm GMT. Some excerpts from the interviews (which were mainly about Halloween) can be read below, along with a brief band update. Listen in full on the audio players:

“I just like scaring people!”

After telling his story about scaring the trick or treaters last year, Paul said:

“I like to hide underneath cars that are parked, the slide out and chase people up the path!”

Discussing what is happening with CRADLE OF FILTH, Paul explained:

“We’re supporting BEHEMOTH in February in Europe. Everything’s in the air – there’s talk of a 2014 comeback type thing, but it’s just talk at the moment, nothing’s been confirmed. I’m writing music in the studio and teaching and stuff like that.”

“It took me 20 years to discover it was spelt with an ‘a,’ I thought it was an ‘e’ like in Helloween! I would dress as a toilet paper mummy, that’s my plan for the next masquerade.”

Niklas updated me with latest WOLF news:

“Exciting times! On Monday we enter the studio and start recording the new album. I have an extremely good feeling about this and we have one of our favourite producers Jens Bogren and we’re very happy about it. Hopefully it will be released in March or spring time.”

“I’ve always liked Halloween, as a child I used to like trick or treating and it continued into my adulthood. I love the imagery, I’ve always been a big fan of horror movies and plays on Broadway with a scary theme like Phantom Of The Opera.”

Brian explained about HALLOWEEN‘s upcoming show:

“We’re having a 30th anniversary show; we finally get to play in a theatre again. The stage show is a cemetery set up; a large crypt, a casket, tombstones and lots of smoke and lights. We’ve invited everyone who’s been in the band over the years.”

WOLF: Announce UK Tour In October

Swedish shark tooth heavy metallers WOLF have recently announced that they are going to tour  UK with Evile in October 2012 via a post on their official facebook page.

WOLF checked in with following statement:

“Today is Nik’s birthday and we celebrate with this great news for you! As special guests we will tour UK with our brothers in Evile in October 2012. See the official press release below. Please link and share the news! We love you all!” and also band added:
“WOLF is finally returning to the UK, birth place of Heavy Metal. It will be awesome to once again meet our fans and friends there. So dig out your denim vests, inspect your patches, make sure you have ultra shine on your studs and polish your leather pants because there’s no more time for bullshit…in October WOLF is back and we promise to bring you an evening of Skull Crushing Metal!”
