PALLBEARER celebrate the release of »Forgotten Days« unleashing “The Making of Forgotten Days”, a deep dive into the making of the eight-song album. Watch it here:
“Pallbearer sound as strong as ever.” – Consequence of Sound
“…sweeping and melancholic, it carves out a shadow-cast yet verdant valley between the majesty of vintage Black Sabbath and the morbid romanticism of Type O Negative.” – Revolver
“…one of modern metal’s most consistently brilliant acts…” – Loudwire
“This is the sound of a genre being refreshed, and of a band making it entirely their own.” – Kerrang
“… Pallbearer… still sounds as huge as ever.” – Stereogum
“It’s been inspiring creatively, I think we’ve written so much more material over the past year than ever before,” bass player/songwriter Joseph D. Rowland explains in the first moments of the interview. “We were able to really let some of the lyrics develop earlier in the process than we have in the past. We were able to really focus in on ideas, develop riffs, with lyrical patterns in mind, themes in mind… this time there was so much more opportunity to tightly hone in on those things.”
»Forgotten Days« is the Little Rock-born band’s fourth full-length album, and like PALLBEARER’s previous releases, it’s been praised by critics and fans worldwide. The Randall Dunn (Sunn O))), Earth, Johan Johannson) produced album was recorded at Sonic Ranch Studios in West Texas. »Forgotten Days« is available in a number of limited edition vinyl variants with physical bundles available via both the Nuclear Blast and PALLBEARER webstores, as well as digitally and on CD/cassette: https://www.pallbearerdoom.com/forgotten-days
PALLBEARER, who are set to release their fourth album, »Forgotten Days« on October 23th via Nuclear Blast, have released a second track from the eight-song album: ‘Rite of Passage’ that you can watch here:
“’Rite of Passage’ is both a reflection and a confessional,” explains bass player/songwriter Joseph Rowland. “The toll that loss has taken on my life often finds ways to remind me that I may never feel whole, and the song’s purpose is to express and embody that emptiness. It felt totally appropriate to wrap it in reimagined trappings of our earliest doom-leaning material.” The band previously released a song and accompanying video for the album’s title track (https://youtu.be/OuH3pX8tqCg) as well as a black and white ‘Cinema Edition’ (https://youtu.be/FV1oaYgktvo). The song was met with widespread praise. Stereogum dubbed it both “hammering” and “comforting,” Consequence of Sound said the six-and-a-half-minute track is “undoubtedly the band’s heaviest material since their now-legendary 2010 Demo,” and Revolver described the album preview as “sweeping and melancholic, it carves out a shadow-cast yet verdant valley between the majesty of vintage Black Sabbath and the morbid romanticism of Type O Negative.”
Discussing the themes behind the album, singer/guitar player Brett Campbell, said: “Memory is big aspect of the new record. Memory is a big aspect of the new record. The passage of time. How things change as perspective changes. Was the past truly the way that you remember it at all?”

PALLBEARER, who recently announced the Oct. 23 release of their highly-anticipated fourth album, »Forgotten Days«(Nuclear Blast), have shared a black and white, cinematic version of the video for title track ‘Forgotten Days’:
The clip, which stands in stark contrast to the original version that was released earlier this month, has echoes of classic science fiction films such as “Solaris,” “Silent Running,” and “Stalker.”
“When Ben sent us this alternate version of the ‘Forgotten Days’ video, we were instantly taken aback at how a simple color shift and change to aspect ratio transformed the feeling of the narrative,” explains singer/guitar player Brett Campbell of the Ben Meredith directed video. “This cinematic edition is dripping with oppressive claustrophobia, and in being stripped of color, deepens the sense of the unknown lurking in the shadows of the mind. We’re happy to share it with you today.”
The Little Rock-based band released the title track and original video earlier this month, immediately earning praise for the “sweeping and melancholic” (Revolver) single. Stereogum said ‘Forgotten Days’ is “warm and melodic,” Consequence of Sound declared the six-minute song “undoubtedly the band’s heaviest material since their now-legendary 2010 Demo” and Metal Injection added that it “has a crushingly sad aura about it and you’re going to love it.”
Campbell, in discussing what is the first glimpse of what’s to come on the band’s eagerly-awaited album, said: “’Forgotten Days’ is inspired by people in my family, and people getting to the age where people’s grandparents are facing the inevitable. Things that happen when you get old. It’s about your loss of identity while you’re aware it’s happening and how horrifying it is. I think it can also be applied to what makes you you.”
Bass player/songwriter Joseph Rowland added: “»Forgotten Days« is us exploring what is natural to us. The songs tell me where I need to go when I write. We wanted to focus on songs that were visceral and enjoyable to play live – that our audiences would enjoy experiencing. We’re also getting back to more of the groovier and heavier elements of PALLBEARER. »Heartless« is fairly uptempo and technical. This one is a little more open, it hammers you.”
The Randall Dunn (Sunn O))), Earth, Johan Johannson) produced album was recorded at Sonic Ranch Studios in West Texas. Michael Lierly, drummer Mark Lierly’s brother, once again created the album’s artwork, crafting images that were roughly hewn yet heartbreaking in their expressive heft. The striking cover is the ideal foil to PALLBEARER’s thick musical and lyrical melancholia.

PALLBEARER is Brett Campbell (vocals/guitar), Devin Holt (guitar), Joseph D. Rowland (bass/vocals), and Mark Lierly (drums). The Little Rock, Arkansas based band formed in 2008 and have since released a trio of albums: »Sorrow And Extinction« (2012) and »Foundations Of Burden« (2014) to »Heartless«(2017). PALLBEARER has received widespread praise with Rolling Stone dubbing their music “beautiful melancholia,” the New York Times saying, “PALLBEARER takes the genre’s distorted guitars and dread and adds an ambitious element of optimism,” and Decibel, who have twice afforded the band their cover slot, declaring the band’s songs both “majestic” and “extraordinary.”
PALLBEARER‘s highly-anticipated fourth album, »Forgotten Days«, arrives October 23rd via Nuclear Blast.
The band has simultaneously released the eight-song album’s first single, leading with a video for the title track. “I’m extremely stoked to finally share this song with everyone,” says singer/guitar player Brett Campbell. Commenting on the Ben Meredith directed clip, Campbell continues: “The video for ‘Forgotten Days’ tells the story of an unfortunate traveler who journeys too far, and becomes lost in the depths of both inner, and outer, space. What is real when you cannot trust your own mind?”

We’re also getting back to more of the groovier and heavier elements of PALLBEARER. »Heartless« is fairly uptempo and technical. This one is a little more open, it hammers you.”
“This record has a lot of thematic ties to our first record,” Rowland continues. “When we were writing »Sorrow And Extinction«, my mother was terminally ill. It’s been 10 years since she passed. It’s taken me all of this time to take a really good look at myself. While we were writing »Forgotten Days«, I knew, ‘Now is the time to sit down and begin to understand who I have become.’”
“Joe and I have always written lyrics separately,” adds Campbell. “But we always end up with lyrics that are connected by threads. I’m not sure why that is. Maybe it’s because we’ve been in close proximity for a long while. Between »Heartless« and »Forgotten Days«, we were home for an extended period of time. I think we finally had time to reflect. Memory is a big aspect of the new record. The passage of time. How things change as perspective changes. Was the past truly the way that you remember it at all?”

Death metal legends OBITUARY have announced an early Summer North American headline tour with support from Pallbearer, Skeletonwitch and Dust Bolt. The tour begins May 2nd in Atlanta, GA and ends June 3rd in Miami, FL. A full list of confirmed tour dates is available below (see the flyer).
OBITUARY comments on the tour:
“We are stoked about our North American tour and super excited to be back at the headlining spot. We have been very fortunate to be a part of some killer tours for our last few US/Canada runs as support to Carcass, Cannibal Corpse and Kreator but that came with limits on time and production value. Now it’s time to bust out the Big Guns, dig deep into our musical pockets and pull out some oldies but goodies!!
With 10 studio albums and over 100 songs in our catalog these days, it’s never easy choosing a set list and always causes some serious discussions and arguments amongst the band members so we are turning to the fans on this one. We want to hear from YOU what songs we should play and since everyone has their favorites we are really looking forward to hearing what you guys think. This should be fun, entertaining and interesting so make sure to comment on our social media pages with your top picks……Ready. Set. GO!!!!!!!!”
Additionally, OBITUARY will embark on a month-long Spring 2018 European headlining tour in March. The tour begins March 3 in Cologne, DE and ends April 1 in Schijndel, NL at Paaspop Festival.
OBITUARY’S self-titled new album is out now worldwide on CD/LP/Digital via Relapse Records. Physical and digital orders plus streams are available now at bit.ly/ObituaryST.

Little Rock, Arkansas-based ruminant progressive doom quartet, PALLBEARER, have today released a brand new video for single ‘I Saw The End’. The video was directed and produced by the acclaimed Zev Deans of Panorama Programming.
‘ISaw The End‘ is the imposing opening track for upcoming record “Heartless”, a wistful and serious plea for us all to take heed of the warning signs around us, else our dismal fate be sealed.
PALLBEARER stated: “Both song and video present a telescopic view on an eternity of corruption. The path of greed leads to misery. When higher awareness allowed us to claw our way out of the mud, we found new ways to exploit one another, abusing the gift that could bring us to new heights. In the end, we pay for our selfishness. Join us for this elegy for what might have been.”
You can watch the video for ‘I Saw The End’ here:
PALLBEARER‘s upcoming third record “Heartless” is due for release on 24th March 2017 via Nuclear Blast in the UK, Europe, Australia & New Zealand.
“Heartless” is also now available for pre-order here.
“Heartless” was recorded entirely to analogue tape at Fellowship Hall Sound, Little Rock, Arkansas between June and August 2016. The record was produced by PALLBEARER, and mixed by acclaimed producer Joe Barresi (TOOL, THE MELVINS, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE). Engineering was handled by Jason Weinheimer and Zach Reeves, and mastered by Grammy winning mastering engineer Dave Collins (BLACK SABBATH, ALICE COOPER, METALLICA).
The ruminative album artwork was created by hugely talented Indiana based oil painter Michael Lierly, and the album layout was handled by Chimere Noire.
PALLBEARER commented on “Heartless”: “This album finds us exploring new territories; instead of staring into to the void – both above and within – »Heartless« concentrates its power on a grim reality. Our lives, our homes and our world are all plumbing the depths of utter darkness, as we seek to find any shred of hope we can.”
The “Heartless” tracklisting reads as follows:
01. I Saw The End
02. Thorns
03. Lie Of Survival
04. Dancing In Madness
05. Cruel Road
06. Heartless
07. A Plea For Understanding

Initially formed in 2008, PALLBEARER grew from the fertile underground metal scene of Little Rock, Arkansas – releasing their debut full-length “Sorrow And Extinction” in early 2012. The record made an immediate and immense impact on die-hard doom fans and metal critics alike, also forming the four piece fans outside of the metal scene. Hailed by Rolling Stone as the “#1 Metal Album Of 2012,” the album also received the coveted “Best New Music” stamp of approval from Pitchfork and landed the band on end of year lists at SPIN and NPR.
Their formidable sophomore record – 2014’s »Foundations Of Burden« featured on countless critic’s end of year lists and cemented their reputation as an unstoppable and emotive force – driving doom beyond its imagined limits, carving themselves an entirely original path through the realm of heavy music. The record charted in the Billboard Top 100, achieving Pitchfork‘s “Best New Music” accolade and Decibel‘s highly honoured “Album Of The Year” award.
