After completing a comprehensive European tour together with Century Media Records label-mates Entombed A.D., Canadian progressive sci-fi metal innovators VOIVOD are wrapping up a busy year of promoting their latest Mini-CD release entitled “Post Society – EP” and are now launching a promotional video clip for its title track.

And while continuing work on their upcoming studio album, VOIVOD drummer Michel “Away” Langevin checked in with a comment about the clip as well as a wrap-up of the year 2016 as follows:

“This video is the best ending of a very productive and crazy year! It started in February-March with a North American East Coast tour with Vektor, Eight Bells and Black Fast. Then the West Coast and across Canada in May-June with Child Bite and King Parrot. We were joined by Jason Newsted in San Francisco for a two basses rendition of the song ‘Voivod’.

Shortly after getting back home we drove down to Montebello, QC, to perform at the ever-growing Amnesia Rockfest, where I watched a very tight and energetic show by our friends D.R.I.

In July we flew to the Hell and Heaven Fest in Mexico City, where we shared the stage with Sepultura and witnessed an intense performance by Suicidal Tendencies with Dave Lombardo on drums! My highlight was watching Twisted Sister in the middle of tens of thousands of people singing ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’. We also visited the pyramids of Teotihuacan.

In August it was time to go to Europe for a few festivals and club shows. We got a great crowd reaction at Into The Grave Festival in The Netherlands, where we ran into our old pals Carcass.

In October we flew to St. John’s in the Canadian Maritimes to play our first show ever in Newfoundland. The next day we played the Halifax Pop Explosion in Nova Scotia, came back home right on time to repack and flew to Europe again for a fun tour with Entombed A.D.! We made a stop at the Leafmeal Festival in Dortmund, Germany, where we shot the ‘Post Society’ video with Dirk Behlau / Beastwood Film Production.

We wrote some songs on the road, demoed them between tours, and now we will spend the winter writing some more, just to make sure there will be a brand new Voïvod album in 2017. VOIVOD’s “Post Society – EP”, which followed up 2013’s acclaimed “Target Earth” album release, is available as Digipak CD and as Digital Download. It contains 5 studio tracks with a total playing time of 30 minutes. The artwork was traditionally created by VOIVOD drummer Michel “Away” Langevin.

Canadian progressive sci-fi metal innovators VOIVOD are soon approaching the release of their “Post Society – EP” Mini-CD on February 26th, 2016 via Century Media Records.

Accordingly, VOIVOD are now launching the Mini-CD’s title track, “Post Society”, check it out below.

VOIVOD‘s drummer Michel “Away” Langevin checked in to comment as follows about the song: “Another apocalyptic song from the RadicArt sessions. I think ‘Post Society’ is a good indication of where we are heading for musically. Ingredients from all the VOIVOD eras with a futuristic touch. I can’t wait to play it live!”

The “Post Society – EP” is a very special release available as Digipak CD and as Digital Download, containing 5 studio tracks, including the previously vinyl-only new VOIVOD songs from the limited split 7″ EP’s with label-mates At The Gates and Napalm Death, two brand new songs and a Hawkwind cover (“Silver Machine”) with a total playing time of 30 minutes. In between tours, we are steadily finding our way through recording the next album at RadicArt studio. Many riffs were composed on the bus but until the North American tour with Vektor in 2016, we will spend most of wintertime in Montreal writing another batch of material. Meanwhile, we hope you will enjoy this EP of good old thrash-prog-punk-metal or whatever people want to call Voïvod nowadays :)”

For the recent “Deathcrusher” tour, VOIVOD released a Split 7” EP with label-mates Napalm Death with the track ‘Forever Mountain’ as well as Napalm Death’s exclusive track ‘Phonetics For The Stupefied’. This special vinyl-only release, which followed up VOIVOD’s Split 7” EP of the song “We Are Connected” with At The Gates from earlier in the year, is limited to 2.500 copies (Black: 1200x, Solid White: 300x, Transparent Red: 700x and Neon Yellow: 300x) is selling out quickly, so check for the last available copies here.
