Icelandic Progressive rockers RING OF GYGES have released the second single/video “Nautilus” from their forthcoming album “Metamorphosis” which will be released via ViciSolum Productions on May19.

Helgi Jónsson (vocalist and guitarist) about the single/video:
“Nautilus is perhaps the heaviest song we’ve written, but it’s also one of the most progressive. There isn’t a single measure of 4/4 rhythm in the entire song, which we didn’t notice until after the fact! Despite the technicality and heaviness, there’s a strong melodic backbone that (hopefully) pulls the listener through the track. I wrote the original demo years ago and I’m super proud of this song and what the other guys in the band did with it. It’s a bit of an oddball track with influences from bands like Tool and Intronaut, so this is something different from us. We hope you enjoy Nautilus, and for the old school prog fans just know there’s plenty of stuff to sink your teeth into on the rest of the album.”

Icelandic RING OF GYGES present the first single and video, “Parasite”, from their forthcoming album “Metamorphosis” (which will be released via ViciSolum Productions on May 19). “We spent a very cold couple of days out in the breathtaking landscapes and adorable little villages of South-Western Iceland with our fantastic director Gaui and a fantastic cast of actors, creating the video for our latest single Parasite. Fun fact: one of the scenes is filmed inside the home of the local sheriff in Guðjóns hometown. We hope you enjoy it at least half as much as we enjoyed making it, although Gísli has insisted on a warmer location for the next shoot”.

ViciSolum Records is proud to announce that Icelandic Prog-hardrockers RING OF GYGES have inked a deal with the label for the release of the band’s upcoming 3rd album, which will be entitled “Metamorphosis“, with an expected release in the early spring of 2023.

The band’s vocalist, Helgi Jónsson remarks:

With intriguing and odd rhythmic patterns, a fresh set of eyes on the 70’ies version of prog rock – and an ability to transfer this to the modern age prog metal, Ring of Gyges are combining several worlds of music in their approach towards prog perfection.

Although Ring Of Gyges are heavily inspired by the progressive rock bands of the 70’ies, their sound is much more metal-oriented and draws influences from progressive bands of the modern age, like Leprous, Haken and alike. They strive to create epic and grandiose music with unconventional song structures and vast soundscapes, often accompanied by philosophical lyrics.
