Swedish epic power metal superstars SABATON will grace the cover of the upcoming issue of Germanys Metal Hammer magazine.
In addition to the extensive story about SABATON, the new album „Carolus Rex“ and the most recent events in the bands camp, the issue will also contain an exclusive SABATON-CD, called „Metalus Hammerus Rex“, featuring the title track of „Carolus Rex“, a rare live version of the classic song „Swedish Pagans“ as well as the previousley unreleased track „Harley From Hell“ among others.

Swedish metallers SABATON have been forced to cancel the first three shows of their previously announced North American tour — which was scheduled to start tomorrow (April 10) in Tampa, Florida — due to delays in obtaining visas over the Easter weekend for the band’s four new members. The tour will now commence on April 15 in San Antonio, Texas.

SABATON recently parted ways with guitarists Oskar Montelius and Rikard Sundén, drummer Daniel Mulback and keyboardist Daniel Mÿhr. The band’s new touring lineup is as follows:
Joakim Brodén – Vocals
Pär Sundström – Bass
Chris Rörland (NOCTURNAL RITES) – Guitar
Thobbe Englund (WINTERLONG, RAUBTIER) – Guitar
Robban Bäck (BALTIMOORE, PREY) – Drums
Commented the group: “At the moment we are still searching for a keyboard player. Until we have found the right guy we will still have Daniel Myhr with us, in digital form, since he has specially recorded all keyboards for us to use on tour. Therefore, we are not cancelling any shows at all — the war machine of SABATON will go on just as planned!”
A four-minute video clip in which the new members of SABATON are introduced can be seen below. Also available are the first two photos of the band’s new lineup.

The band previously stated about “Carolus Rex”: “For the first time ever we have had an expert to help us out with the theme, the well-known Swedish historian Bengt Liljegren. We have also added some extra time in the studio to find the absolute right sound on ‘Carolus Rex’, and our producer, Peter Tägtgren, says that this album will mark a brand new standard for how a heavy metal album should sound like!”
Liljegren‘s published works include acclaimed biographies of Adolf Hitler and Karl XII. He also appeared in the popular Swedish TV series “Boston Tea Party”.
SABATON will embark on a North American headlining tour this month. The “Swedish Empire Tour 2012” will kick off on April 10 in Tampa, Florida.
