Heavy metal saviours PÄNZER will unleash their sophomore record entitled “Fatal Command” on October 6th, 2017 through Nuclear Blast Records. After revealing why they picked such politically charged artwork in the first album trailer, the band has now launched a second trailer covering the lyrical content. Watch as front man Schmier opens up about what he was influenced by when writing the album:
Schmier comments: “The lyrics of the album are a personal view of mine on the world and of my life also – I have some personal lyrics in there about a friend of mine who turned schizophrenic, which is of course very intimate and for me it’s been a great relief to write about it. But I’m also an old punk and like to create lyrics about stuff that’s going on in the world.”

“With “Fatal Command”, we pay tribute to our early days and the era of NWOBHM,” Schmier commented. “The new songs are faster, heavier, catchy and even more melodic, without being commercial at all. We wanna keep the old and original metal spirit alive.”
“Fatal Command” lives and breathes heavy metal like few other albums of recent years do. It is a monolith of a record on which the tempestuous music, the provocative artwork and Schmier‘s social-criticism come together under a metallic and indestructible hide, courtesy of Little Creek Studio in Basel, Switzerland. One thing, however, is setting “Fatal Command” apart from the perfect heavy metal record: “There’s no ballad! But as the singer, I wanted to spare mankind,” he laughs. Consequently, PÄNZER prefer to hit the throttle and concentrate on kicking as much ass as possible. “Fatal Command” proudly wears the insignia that so many current bands are lacking, a bold statement against wimps and posers. PÄNZER swear a solemn oath on “Fatal Command”: They will be true to heavy metal in good as well as in bad times, in sickness and in health. They will love it and honour it all the days of their lives until death does them part. Amen!
After the departure of Herman Frank (VICTORY), PÄNZER recruited Pontus Norgren of HAMMERFALL to aid their warfare, as well as V.O. Pulver (GurD, POLTERGEIST) on guitar, who already helped out for their latest live shows and has now become a full time member of PÄNZER. “After producing the debut with PANZER, the guys asked me to help them out live to provide the double axe-attack on stage,” remembers V.O. Pulver. “Of course I took the chance to rock out with my buddies. And when the opportunity came up to join them permanently, I didn’t hesitate to accept and now I can’t wait to play the sound of my youth!” Also Pontus was just as excited to join the heavy metal war machine: “It was not a hard decision when I got asked to join PÄNZER, it was a straight YES! To be able to create music with good friends is the most important thing in my world and in this band, having fun when making music, is number one.”
For Canada’s The Metal Voice former Anthrax singer Neil Turbin (Deathriders) interviewed DESTRUCTION Frontman Schmier in Los Angeles on June 11 2017.

When asked about some lyrical themes off their New Album Under Attack
“One song is about the backing track situation in playing live, a lot of bands go out there and don’t play live anymore, they have backing track running through the vocals, through tape, it’s fake. It’s an important matter right now cause many fans don’t know this. Fans go to the show and say hey you were so great tonight but it was playback, it’s F**** cheating the fans to have playbacks, if you cannot do it live, don’t do it.”
When asked when they will begin writing and recording a new album
“We have learned last year that overworking new material is not good for the spirit and for the creativity, so we will start writing an album next year. We finish this tour, I think 2018 we start writing, then release 2019 or so, maybe earlier.”
When asked about giving advice to bands touring South America
“I think the most important thing is you need to trust promoters and you need all the money upfront. Bands go down there, they don’t get paid and they are stranded with no money, no flight tickets. The advice I can give is get your fees before you fly over or at least 50% of the money so you have something in your pocket to go back home.”
Despite great success, SISTER SIN parted ways in late 2015 after a 13 year career. Now the former singer and major force, LIV SIN, from the former band, rises from the ashes with a new band and a whole new album.
LIV SIN’s new album “Follow Me” was released via Despotz Records April 28th 2017 and is co-produced by longtime ACCEPT and U.D.O. member Stefan Kaufmann and U.D.O. bassist Fitty Wienhold.
Liv says of the collaboration: “I’m truly excited to work with Stefan! He is an incredible musician and a longtime metal hero. I think he can bring that extra bit to my music with his lifelong experience from both ACCEPT and U.D.O.”
Kaufmann adds: “When Liv called me and asked to produce her new project together with Fitty, of course I said yes! Liv has talent, and I am sure it will be a blast.”
“Follow Me” shows the power and attitude that Liv is known for and also has featured artists such as Schmier from DESTRUCTION and Jyrki 69 from THE 69 EYES.
About Liv Sin:
From the gutters of southern Sweden, Liv Jagrell emerged as a major force as the vocalist for hard rock band SISTER SIN. Throughout their 13-year career, SISTER SIN sold thousands of records and toured the world with high-profile tours supporting the likes of SLAYER and KING DIAMOND on the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, as well as being a part of the Revolver magazine “Hottest Chicks In Metal” tour. SISTER SIN toured relentlessly for over a decade across Europe and North America garnering an intensely loyal following of rockers that craved the band’s aggressive and melodic brand of hard rock.
When SISTER SIN called it quits at the end of 2015, Liv knew that she had much more to offer the world and her fans. From this, LIV SIN was born. She says: “For me, it has never been an option to stop singing. I live for the stage and for my fans. I still miss SISTER SIN, but I am very excited to work on my own project, and I can promise it will not be some soft pop rock. This is going to be metal deluxe, because that’s who I am!”
LIV SIN line-up:
Liv Jagrell – Vocals
Patrick Ankemark – Lead Guitar
Per Bjelovuk – Drums
Tommie Winther – Bass
Chris Bertzell – Guitar
Continuing our 40th anniversary celebration week for the classic RAINBOW “Rising” album, we recently caught up with Schmier, frontman of German thrash legends DESTRUCTION.
DESTRUCTION have recently released their brutal new album “Under Attack”, which is going down a storm with thrash fans worldwide. Rock and metal has no boundaries and most of us appreciate and enjoy, or if not, at least respect the many different genres around these days. Times were different in so many ways back in 1976 when “Rising” was released, but the album has proudly stood up to the test of time, as Schmier agrees:
“I’m a kid of the seventies, I grew up of course on Rainbow. So Rainbow “Rising” was for me a total breakthrough record, 1976, I think I caught it a little bit later. I remember it was just amazing, it was Ronnie James Dio’s big album also.
This is just an all time classic, I think out of all the seventies records, Rainbow “Rising” is one of the most special ones because all the songs are so great, there’s such a great atmosphere on the album. The sound, even nowadays is still so warm and great and it’s also nothing against Ritchie Blackmore’s Deep Purple years, but I think it’s maybe Ritchie Blackmore’s best record.”
Iconic thrash metal band DESTRUCTION are currently working on their new album entitled “Under Attack”. The band started the recording sessions after the summer festivals last year and have been recording segments in various studios between September 2015 and January 2016. So far they have completed the drum recordings with Martin Buchwalter at Gernhart Studios in Germany, as well as completing some basic recordings, mixing and mastering with VO Pulver at Little Greek Studios in Switzerland.
“Under Attack”will be released on May 13th via Nuclear Blast Records.
Band leader Schmier states:
“We really took our time for this album. After the summer festivals we went into the studio every couple of weeks to record brand new songs and ideas in between all the touring activities. We took several studio sessions instead of one long one, to keep the ideas fresh and have time later before the mix to change bits and pieces that we did not like! Maybe this was the most effective writing we did in the last years!
Due the fact we had more time in between the albums there was a lot of musical output and creativity but also less pressure. From my point of view you can definitely hear the crispiness in the songwriting and the kick ass attitude we brought from the shows into the studio. The ‘on tour into the studio on tour mode’ was so effective that I wanna keep this method for the future!
How does the new record sound? For sure not like a band that is in its 33 years of existence: Efficient aggression: FAST – CATCHY – ORIGINAL!”
