Last month, the band released a b-side from their “Shaped By Fire” album sessions called “Destruction or Strength”. The song is available on all streaming platforms and digital retailers, including Bandcamp as a “pay what you want” download. They are also selling a t-shirt featuring the single artwork.
All proceeds from both items will be aggregated and donated to the following:
AILD Road Crew “Travel restrictions and responsible social-distancing measures have crippled the entire live event industry. While touring is a substantial part of a bands’ income, it is the entire source of financial sustenance for the hard working and talented crew it depends upon. A portion of everything raised will be distributed to our techs and production staff to help alleviate the financial strain of lost income and work opportunity. We love these people as family and want to help them though this the best we can.”
Feeding San Diego “With the closures of all schools in our state, Feeding San Diego is being extremely pro-active in distributing food to support students who previously relied on free and reduced priced school meals as their primary source of nutrition. Feeding San Diego is also continuing their efforts in providing hunger relief to senior citizens, low-income families, and all of the workers in our local hospitality, service, and tourist industries who are facing financial hardships from unemployment. The remainder of everything raised will be sent as a monetary contribution to this organization, to assist them in serving the hunger needs of our community.“
“We recognize this is an uneasy climate for everyone right now so there is no pressure to contribute. At the very least, we hope sharing unreleased music will have a positive impact for those of you excited to hear it. Please be safe and kind to one another. We will get through this together“.
After an incredibly massive comeback with their most recent album, »Shaped By Fire«, (Charts: Germany #6, Austria #9, Switzerland #15, USA Hard Music #1, Australia Metal #3, UK Rock #4) San Diego metal giants AS I LAY DYING return to Europe this autumn.

Whitechapel will be touring in support of their latest record, The Valley. Mixed by David Castillo, mastered by Ted Jensen, produced once again by Mark Lewis (Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder), and featuring artwork by Branca Studio, The Valley is a reference to the part of Hardin Valley (west of Knoxville, Tennessee) where vocalist Phil Bozeman grew up. Set against this backdrop, he approaches his subject matter unflinchingly, building upon everything that came before, making it clear that he has survived that which he was forced to endure and is not afraid to confront it. “Phil has been upfront in his lyrics in the past about hardships he endured in his life as a child, and I believe with this record we tried to paint a better picture of that,” says guitarist Alex Wade, who alongside his bandmates, stands 100% behind everything their vocalist has to say. “I feel our music is Phil’s release from his past, being able to get it out and speak about it, and hopefully anyone who hears it that may have gone through similar experiences can find some release in it as well.”
Named “…the strongest release of [Whitechapel‘s] career…” (Exclaim) and containing “…a healthy helping of killer cuts…” (No Clean Singing), The Valley can be previewed and purchased at: metalblade.com/whitechapel
This June/July, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER and WHITECHAPEL will embark on a co-headlining USA tour, featuring FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, AVERSIONS CROWN, and SHADOW OF INTENT as support. The Black Dahlia Murder will be performing their new album, Nightbringers, front to back and more on this trek, while Whitechapel will be playing their classic This Is Exile in its entirety, to celebrate the record’s 10-year anniversary – making this one show not to be missed!
The Black Dahlia Murder comments: “We’ve known Whitechapel since their humble beginnings and seen them rise to be the important force in heavy music that they are now. It’s exciting to team up with them for this co-headlining tour that’s sure to decimate venues everywhere this summer! See ya soon!”
Whitechapel adds: “We are excited to be doing a co-headliner with our friends and label mates The Black Dahlia Murder. To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of ‘This Is Exile‘, we will be playing it as a whole, and Black Dahlia will be playing their new record as a whole as well. It should be a great night of metal, including the opening acts as well.”
