Sodom’s, 1994 album Get What You Deserve didn’t stick to any of the rules of the era. “We just wanted to sound completely nuts — full-on, in-your-face madness – it was pure Sodom just not giving a damn. Especially not about what anyone else was doing. We wanted to do what felt right to us — raw, grimy, unpolished. Songs that would make other people cringe — that’s what we were after.”
The new single ‘Jabba the Hutt’ is one such track, and it may appear that it‘s named after a Star Wars character — but it’s actually about a real person. When asked about it, Tom Angelripper and Andy Brings respond in unison: “We won’t comment on that.”
The accompanying video is cut from archive camcorder footage of the infamous photoshoots for both the grotesque album cover of ‘Get What You Deserve’ and it’s preceding EP, ‘Aber Bitte Mit Sahne’ and provides a snapshot into the warped minds of Sodom in 1994!
Thirty-two years later, this snarling beast is being unleashed on the metal community once again. A timeless punch to the gut — or, as Maik Weichert, guitarist and mastermind of German metalcore heroes Heaven Shall Burn, puts it: “The best punk album of the nineties!”
Get What You Deserve will be released as an extensive box set, remastered and newly mixed by Andy Brings, including the remastered and remixed Aber Bitte Mit Sahne EP, plus the first concert with Atomic Steif as a bonus double LP and a DVD with additional live shows. Alongside the original hotel room cover, the package also includes the censored version with the band photo and the originally planned artwork featuring a Knarrenheinz painting by cult artist Andreas Marschall.
Get What You Deserve will be released on February 27, 2026 via BMG and is available for pre-order now.

Hard, Mangy, Antisocial – You Get What You Deserve!
“What the hell are you bums wasting my money on?!” roared the legendary — and in 2025 deceased — SPV boss Manfred Schütz, yelling down the phone on an already rainy autumn day. On the other end of the line: Sodom.
In 1993, the legendary lineup of Tom Angelripper (bass, vocals), Andy Brings (guitar) and Atomic Steif (drums). Before the three musicians’ instantly horizontal hairdos had even fallen back onto their shoulders, the old-school record boss barked again: “We’re not putting this album out like that — end of discussion!”
Yet the blood-soaked scene from an unknown Düsseldorf hotel room, with its many hints toward the songs on Get What You Deserve, fit perfectly with the music of Sodom’s sixth studio album — a 16-track chunk of fury with which the band defiantly stood against the musical zeitgeist of the early ’90s. Andy Brings: “Back then every band suddenly wanted to be Pantera or Machine Head. Incredibly clean, sterile, and technically perfect. We didn’t. Couldn’t, weren’t, didn’t want to!” Band leader Tom Angelripper adds: “With Get What You Deserve we wanted to return to our roots — more Venom, more Motörhead. Andy’s punk roots also came through stronger, which was right up my alley. Short songs, maximum impact, straight in your face — the way it should be!”
A few months earlier, Sodom had released the Aber Bitte Mit Sahne EP — partly to introduce their new drummer Atomic Steif, and partly to have fresh songs ready for the upcoming Christmas Metal Meetings Tour at the end of 1993 with Motörhead, Kreator and Entombed. The EP also served as a test run for what would become a fruitful collaboration with then-unknown producer Wolfgang Stach, who would go on to major success with Guano Apes, Jupiter Jones, and BAP.
The new lineup unleashed unexpected power within Sodom. The songs came together quickly and were recorded in record time — raw and wild, yet incredibly tight. Brings: “There’s nothing nice about this album — not the sound, not the lyrics. It wasn’t supposed to be. It was meant to be completely unfriendly. The others were the polished ones.” Angelripper: “With Atomic Steif on drums, we became an unstoppable machine — in the studio and on stage. It breaks our hearts that he passed away far too soon on August 31, 2025, at only 57, and can’t witness how songs like Jabba The Hutt, Sodomized, and Silence Is Consent are being rediscovered and loved again. He was the German Dave Lombardo — an incredible drummer!”

Andy Brings: “I wanted to strip the album — which already had almost no additives and zero ballast — down to the absolute maximum. No samples, no tricks, just a very pissed-off band at the peak of its creative energy.” Tom Angelripper: “Over 30 years ago, we went against the current with this album — and we’re doing it again today. Nothing sounds like this record, and that makes me proud. Get What You Deserve was, is, and will always be the sound of pure defiance. My personal favorite Sodom album!

Sodom’s cult 1992 album Tapping The Vein covered a wide range of lyrical topics amongst its eleven songs and opening track ‘Body Parts’ deals with the horrors of the organ trade. The lyric writing duties on the album were, for the first time shared out between all three members; Tom Angelripper, Andy Brings and Chris Witchhunter. It was Chris along with a friend of his called Bertrum, who contributed the lyrics to ‘Body Parts’. It was also one of the songs where producer, Harris Johns suggested Tom lowered his voice, which worked perfectly with the bands standard tuning, while still retaining a menacing character.
The new expanded editions of Sodom’s, Tapping The Vein feature the original album remastered, it also features a complete remixed version done by Andy Brings with some additional alternative takes of three album tracks, plus three live concerts: Tokyo 1992, Düsseldorf 1992 and Cologne 1992 (Chris Witchhunter´s last show with Sodom) in the super deluxe edition.

Sodom’s cult 1992 album Tapping The Vein may have been the bands heaviest offering yet but as the band remembers, the album really offered something new, there were more punk influences in it and the track ‘Wachturm’ wears that influence in its shoulder.
Tom Angelripper recalls how the song came together, “Andy (Brings – guitarist) is a big Ramones fan, which Chris (Witchhunter – drums) and I also liked. Chris was the metal advocate in the band, whereas I was more into punk and Motörhead. It was the combination that made it work.” Andy adds: “Chris wasn’t averse to punk either, he was a big fan of Die Toten Hosen for example. At that time we actually considered covering their song ‘Liebesspieler’ for TappingTheVein but in the end we composed our own punk song, ‘Wachturm‘.” Even though the German lyrics of the song sound humorous, they have a serious background. They are based on some very bad experiences Chris had with the Jehovah’s Witnesses. His girlfriend at the time joined the sect and left him because of it.”

Thirty two years is a long time in anyone’s book. Way too long according to Sodom fans worldwide. But if you ask Tom Angelripper and Andy Brings, those 32 years since the original release of Sodom’s sixth album “Tapping The Vein“ went by in the blink of an eye. With prices for the original vinyl LP skyrocketing in the collectors world and heated online fan discussions whether the re-release will ever see the light of day, the time has finally come to breathe new life into what appears to be everybody’s favorite album by Sodom, alongside “Agent Orange“ and “Persecution Mania“.
“At the time it was just another album for us“, says only original bandmember Tom Angelripper, but the Sodomaniacs all over the world made it a cult classic. It’s just sad that Chris Witchhunter is not here anymore to celebrate with us.” Guitar player Andy Brings, who was 20 years old and still in school when the joined the band in 1991, who wrote and recorded his first ever album with Sodom adds: “Bands don’t determine what becomes a cult, the fans do. It just happened, and we are very proud of it. 18-year-olds come up to me these days and tell me how much they love that album.“
Not only was “Tapping The Vein“ the last album with original drummer Chris Witchhunter hitting the skins more fiercely than ever before, but it was also a brutal statement from one of the originators of Thrash Metal, in a time when many bands strayed from their original paths, became too sanitized or caved in to newer trends. Sodom went in the opposite direction and put out what many fans call ‘Sodom’s Death Metal album’, although no one in the band actually listened to Death Metal at the time. Angelripper: “We just did what we did, not paying attention to what was happening around us. Andy joined the band and we just hammered out these killer songs in no time. It all happened very fast. There were no distractions, just the music.“ Brings: “Tapping The Vein“ is the result of pure inspiration. I was young, hungry and full of energy and had ideas and that resonated perfectly with Tom and Chris, wanting to show everybody who’s really in charge of Thrash Metal, in an era where not many bands stayed true to their original vision.“
So here it is. Sodom’s ‘blue album’ revisited (like any true classic, it can be referred to by only mentioning the color of the artwork, just ask Metallica, Weezer and The Beatles), and the package could not be more complete. With the original album remastered, it also features a complete remixed version done by Andy Brings with some additional alternative takes of three album tracks, plus three live concerts: Tokyo 1992, Düsseldorf 1992 and Cologne 1992 (Chris Witchhunter´s last show with Sodom) in the super deluxe edition. Andy: “We fought and worked very hard for this re-release, I can only hope that it was worth the wait, but I’m pretty sure it will fill every Sodomaniac´s heart with joy.“ Tom: “The fans mean everything to us, and this is really just for them. Working on “Tapping The Vein“ again brought back so many memories, both good and bad, but this is who we were 32 years ago. An amazing trip.“
“Tapping The Vein“ is the story of youth, life, death, friendship and loyalty. It’s also testament to a time in your life, when everything was new and exciting, and bands and their music was all you had. When Metal was pure, raw and wild. You thought that time would never come back. Until now……
