Finnish Folk Metal Superstars KORPIKLAANI are currently touring Europe alongside TURISAS and TROLLFEST in support of their latest studio album »Kulkija«. To celebrate, the band released a special tour edition, which includes the »Beer Beer« CD, featuring 14 different versions of the eponymous track. Taken from this CD is also ‘Bier Bier’, sung by TANKARD‘s Gerre, who even wrote the lyrics for the adaption. Watch the lyric video for the German ‘Beer Beer’ version here:
Gerre stated, “I remember when we toured with KORPIKLAANI across Finland in 2009, where we had tons of fun! I also had a lot of fun while writing German lyrics for the band’s iconic song and recording it with our sound engineer Gerd Lücking (drummer of HOLY MOSES). I hope that I’ll meet the guys in KORPIKLAANI again soon, and we can have a few beers once again.”
With 14 tracks and a total running time of over 71 minutes, »Kulkija« is the group’s longest album to date. Working with producer Janne Saksa for the first time, the album was recorded at Petrax Studio (Hollola, FIN) and mixed at Sound Supreme Studios (Hämeenlinna, FIN). Mastering duties were handled by renowned engineer Svante Forsbäck (RAMMSTEIN etc.). The cover was designed by Jan Yrlund (BATTLE BEAST,MANOWAR etc.), who has already created several artworks for previous albums and singles for the band.
The »Beer Beer« CD includes 14 versions of KORPIKLAANI‘s iconic song ‘Beer Beer’, graced by the likes ofChristopher Bowes (ALESTORM), Steve “Zetro” Souza (EXODUS), Andreas “Gerre” Geremia(TANKARD), Jesper Anastasiadis (TURISAS), TROLLFEST, HEIDEVOLK and many more of their friends’ bands and musicians.

German Thrash Metal legends TANKARD have just released an official animated video for the track “Don’t Bullshit Us“, taken from the latest studio release, “One Foot In The Grave”.
The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia spent the last 13 weeks working on the video, resulting in a hilariously funny animated short. Producers Aaron McLoughlin & Simon Norton spent around 3000 working hours with their team to create the video.
Aaron states: “The video took an estimated 3000 hours to complete. Much of this time is spent at the concept, pre-vizualisation and planning stages. Everything is digitally hand-drawn frame-by-frame on Wacom Cintiq tablets in RMIT University‘s state-of-the-art animation studio. This is where old and new school meet. We decided to go with a scribbly look for this video, as we felt it suited the energy of the track with Gerre‘s superb vocal stylings. It also meant the animation team could work quicker to produce an original looking video with everything on the screen always moving like crazy. Although it‘s a funny video, we also wanted the intensity of the song‘s serious message to cut through. I‘m massively proud of the job the students did on this video. I think it‘s evidence that studying animation at RMIT University in Australia is the most fun thing anybody can choose to do. I‘d pick Tankard over Mickey Mouse any day!”
Gerre adds: “Even though our latest record ‘One Foot In The Grave” has been released quite a while ago, we are really happy to present you another official video clip in connection to that album. Aaron McLoughlin once again did a great job, the cartoon-like clip matches the humor of TANKARD perfectly, even though my belly – as presented in the video – is not that chubby anymore…….hahahaha! So: Don´t bullshit us anymore and keep on thrashing!”

»One Foot In The Grave« was recorded at Gernhart Studio (Troisdorf, Germany) together with producer Martin Buchwalter (DESTRUCTION, SUIDAKRA) in January 2017. The new artwork was brought to life by Patrick Strogulski, who is a student of Sebastian Krüger, the former TANKARD cover artist. He also created the cover artworks for »A Girl Called Cerveza« and »R.I.B.«.
German cult thrashers TANKARD are pleased to announce that they’ll perform at the German DFB cup final this year, which will impressively be their third appearance at the huge event. Like their appearances in 2006 and 2017, the band will be playing ‘Schwarz-weiß wie Schnee’ which is their favourite football team, Eintracht Frankfurt‘s club anthem. They’ll be performing in front of the Eintracht Frankfurt‘s fan stand on May 19th. After that, it’ll be all or nothing for their team in the match against record breaking cup champions Bayern Munich.
“The best things come in threes. Of course we’re very proud that we’re once again invited to perform right before the cup final at the Olympic stadium in Berlin, and it’ll be a real challenge to surpass last year’s event. But this year, we’re going to win the cup and won’t take Helene Fischer home. Black/white/red regards Gerre”
The event will be broadcasted on ARD, kick off will be at 8pm CEST.
Iconic Frankfurt based thrash metal band TANKARD makes common cause with Melbourne’s RMIT University once again! The Australian students are currently working on another animated video for the band’s track ‘Don’t Bullshit Us’, taken from their latest hit album »One Foot In The Grave« (#26 Germany etc.). The team guided by Aaron McLoughlin crafted the animated video for track ‘Fooled By Your Guts’ a few years back. In addition, McLoughlin produced TANKARD’s ‘One Foot In The Grave’ music video last year. Some first impressions can be seen below.
TANKARD will release „Hymns For The Drunk“, the ultimate TANKARD Best Of, on January 12th 2018, via AFM Records!
„This Best Of sums up our creative period from 2002 – 2010, while we were signed at AFM Records. Henner (R.I.P.) gave TANKARD a chance in the early 2000s, when he signed us. He literally revived the band. The release of ‚B-Day‘ in 2002 was a turning point in the band’s history, cause we were finally back in the Metal circus. The AFM years will always be an important part in TANKARD’s history. Have fun with this!“
Gerre, September 2017
