He literally revived the band. The release of ‚B-Day‘ in 2002 was a turning point in the band’s history, cause we were finally back in the Metal circus. The German thrash metal legends TANKARD released their highly praised 17th studio album “One Foot In The Grave” on June 2nd via Nuclear Blast Records.

Today, the band presents a lyric video for the song “Syrian Nightmare”. Check it out here:
Frontman Gerre states: “This is a song with a really serious message: It’s about those catastrophic conditions in Syria where countries from all over the world try to enforce their power interests. And as always, the people suffer endlessly. That’s what makes us enormously sad, but also angry since everyone’s just watching; massacres become a daily routine. I realised this even more when I was recording the song’s vocals, so they turned out very aggressive.”
“One Foot In The Grave” was recorded at Gernhart Studio (Troisdorf, Germany) together with producer Martin Buchwalter (DESTRUCTION, SUIDAKRA) in January 2017. The new artwork was brought to life by Patrick Strogulski, who is a student of Sebastian Krüger, the former TANKARD cover artist. He also created the cover artworks for »A Girl Called Cerveza«and »R.I.B.«.

People are getting blamed and offended, there are lots of fake news stories and with every one, a part of them stays in people’s minds! Our own fake news story on April 1st was a good example of this! People have stopped talking to each other, and they mainly communicate via new media. These are strange times… By the way: TANKARD have existed as a fake band for over 35 years, but we’re still doing well, aren’t we?”

The band has just released the first trailer for that upcoming album. The video was a result of the listening session of the new album, which took place at the pub “Alte Liebe” in Frankfurt (Germany) on February 17th and it shows the first impressions of the German press.

This time, the album is going to have a serious streak; not only filled with humor but criticising today’s society. Even the traditional beer song ‘Secret Order 1516’ displays some critical elements.
But don’t worry: fans of the typical TANKARD humour won’t be disappointed! With songs like ‘Sole Grinder’, the band hasn’t forgotten their raison d’être. This song pays tribute to the band’s manager Buffo (Gerre:»The funniest choleric person in Germany«) in an ironic way.

Today, the band presents the cover artwork of the anniversary album. With this, the iconic band mascot, the TANKARD-Alien, celebrates his return after about 13 years of absence. The alien was born in 1989 with the “Alien-EP” and has already graced five album covers. The TANKARD fan club “Maniac Aliens” is named after it also.
The artwork was brought to life by Patrick Strogulski, who is a student of Sebastian Krüger, the former TANKARD cover artist. He also created the cover artworks for “A Girl Called Cerveza” and “R.I.B.”.
Vocalist Gerre comments: “Mister Strogulski has once again created a real masterpiece and surpassed himself.
Our first plan was, that I would be on the cover instead of the alien… but, lucky me, it ended up being the alien…”
