Gothenburg sensation THE HALO EFFECT is currently touring through Europe with their fellow countrymen AMON AMARTH and label mates MACHINE HEAD, leaving masses of adoring fans in their wake.
Their debut album Days Of The Lost, released in August, dominated the charts worldwide. Reaching #1 in Sweden, #6 in Germany, Austria and Finland and #8 in Switzerland.
The album’s lead single ‘Shadowminds’ achieved huge success in 2022, reaching over 5 million plays across Spotify & YouTube.
Today, the band reveals a remix of ‘Shadowminds’, re-imagined by legendary EMPEROR mastermind IHSAHN, who has added an extraordinary avantgarde flare.
Ihsahn comments on the remix: “I was flattered when my friends in The Halo Effect approached me for a remix, and, given the pedigree of Swedish metal within the band, I knew the original track would of course be stellar! So, I decided to try a somewhat experimental approach while still building on the core elements of the song. I hope Halo-fans will appreciate this slightly twisted version of Shadowminds.”
The band also recently announced three headline shows in their home country of Sweden for early 2023. Here are the dates: 16.02.23 SE STOCKHOLM – Debaser 17.02.23 SE GOTHENBURG – Pustervik 18.02.23 SE Malmö, KB
Swedish melodic death metal juggernauts THE HALO EFFECT featuring iconic musicians Mikael Stanne, Jesper Strömblad, Niclas Engelin, Peter Iwers and Daniel Svensson have released the footage of their highly acclaimed rooftop gig to the public. The show that originally aired in May was shot on a roof top near the harbour with a phenomenal view over the band’s hometown, Gothenburg, Sweden, and features 4 songs off the band’s chart smashing debut, Days Of The Lost (#1 in their home country, #6 in Germany, Austria and Finnland among others).
The show can be viewed here:
Singer Mikael Stanne comments: “Here it is finally! Previously only available to Fanvault members and the people who came to see us in Stockholm and Gothenburg as we screened this in theatres. The idea was to tie this band to our hometown and going down to the harbour and rocking out on a rooftop overlooking the city seemed like the perfect fit for us. The downside was of course that we had to do this in the freezing cold winter due to touring schedules getting in the way. Strangely enough this was actually the first ever time we played these songs together and it was an absolute blast. We did a few takes just to get it right and in between we had to run inside, wrap ourselves in blankets and drink copious amounts of steaming hot coffee only to run out again and do it all over again. We hope you guys enjoy this taste of what The Halo Effect live looks and feels like and we cannot wait to see you guys out on the road. View this on the biggest screen in the house and turn it all the way up! Cheers!”
Last Thursday, September 8th, the band kicked off their extensive European Tour alongside AMON AMARTH and legendary label mates MACHINE HEAD.

Today sees the release of Days Of The Lost, the highly-anticipated debut album from Gothenburg’s newest supergroup, THE HALO EFFECT.
Alongside the release of their debut album, the band have also revealed a new video, that was filmed on a Gothenburg rooftop, for standout track ‘In Broken Trust’.
Mikael Stanne comments: “The song is about betrayal. Either to oneself or onto others. The clinical and unaffected truth might be hard to achieve but the further we stray from it the harder everything gets. This turned out to be a huge song and landing on this structure and feel took a few tries but I love how it came out and having this come out as the album drops feels incredible. Enjoy!”

Three singles have been released so far by the new Gothenburg outfit THE HALO EFFECT and they have raised a lot of attention and praise in the media and fan world.
Just before hitting the stage at legendary Sweden Rock festival, the band yet reveals another melodic death metal gem, leading up to their highly anticipated debut album “Days Of The Lost”, to be released on August 12th via Nuclear Blast.
Frontman Mikael Stanne tells about the track: “The Needless End deals with the crippling inability to deal with abstract problems. Issues that just seem too huge or incomprehensible falls by the wayside in order to deal with more immediate but less important issues. We end up somewhere not because we want to but because we were unable to understand what we needed to do. There is an intensity to this song and a uplifting melody that I think suits this idea. Among all the anger and resentment it’s also hopeful and has an infectious groove and drive.”

THE HALO EFFECT is the biggest surprise in the metal scene in a long time. After making a big impression with their debut single “Shadowminds” and the follow up single “Feel What I Believe”, the band now announces their debut album for August 12th and kicks off the pre-save phase with a third single and video for the album title track “Days Of TheLost”.
The band featuring guitar heroes & songwriting wizards Jesper Strömblad and NiclasEngelin (ex- IN FLAMES), singer Mikael Stanne (DARK TRANQUILITY), as well as former IN FLAMES members Peter Iwers and Daniel Svensson, presenting another masterclass in Swedish melodic death metal!
Frontman Mikael Stanne explainsabout the song: “Days Of The Lost” is about finding your place in life, about making that outcast experience into something that propels you forward. We all met in our mid teens and we were all trying to find direction, motivation and meaning. Thankfully we found it in creativity and music and we shared this passion and made something from it that remains an essential part of who we are as individuals and as parts of a whole. So this is us reflecting on our past, while watching a new generation slowly but surely find their path. It’s about standing up, being your true self and about not letting anything stand in your way. Our choices and our paths have led to all kinds of things but we wouldn’t change a thing.”
The video was shot on a cold day in January at a rooftop at a location in Gothenburg called “Ringön”, that used to be all industrial but nowadays turning into a cool place with all it´s breweries, clubs, venues and all creative sorts of activities. It is directed by Theo Gabay along with his sidekick Morgan Jensen, who are more known in Sweden for their movie and tv work.
