Swedish metallers DESTINY have announced their new complete line up as follows:
In the beginning of 2013 the final piece of the puzzle for the new line up was added when keyboardist Carl Dahlberg joined DESTINY. This is the first time that DESTINY has a permanent keyboard player in the band, even though there have been keyboards on a few songs on all of the albums, except “The Undiscovered Country”, before. With Carl in the band there will be a new exiting dimension added to the music of DESTINY. Carl will be featured on both the anniversary album ”The Incompatibility of Philosophical Terminology” and “Global Warming”.
Drummer Roger Christiansson, a long time friend of Stefan for the last 25 years, even though they had never played together before, joined the band in December 2012. Roger is perfect for DESTINY on every level and already on the first rehearsal, it’s clear that Roger and Stefan will be a dynamic and heavy new rhythm section. It’s now decided that Roger will rerecord the drums for two of tracks of the anniversary album ”The Incompatibility of Philosophical Terminology.”
Vocalist Jonas Heidgert (Dragonland) joined DESTINY in November 2012. He immediately started to record vocals for a planned digital single. Everyone that heard the result so far has been overwhelmed and there is no doubt that Jonas’s vocals and stage presence, as well as his personality will fit DESTINY perfectly both in the studio and on stage. .
Guitarist Michael Åberg has been a member of DESTINY since 2005. After all these years and numerous gigs with the band it’s time for Michael to debut on not just one, but two DESTINY albums, ”The Incompatibility of Philosophical Terminology” and “Global Warming”.
Finally, there is the driving force of the ever present bassist and main composer, Stefan Björnshög, whose visions and music has molded DESTINY since he founded the band way back in 1982.
DESTINY, Swedish metallers, have released the following statement:
Unfortunately the new DESTINY “digital single” that was going to be released this December will be delayed until January 2013.
The single is from the anniversary album ”The Incompatibility of Philosophical Terminology” scheduled for a spring 2013 release.
It will be the first release with new singer Jonas Heidgert (DRAGONLAND).
Interestingly enough it will also be the first release featuring Michael Åberg (NOSTRADAMEUS) on guitar even though he has been with the band since 2005.
Guesting on drums is Adde Larsson (M.A.N. and Black Canyd Store) who recorded the drums about a year ago well before current drummer Roger Christiansson joined the DESTINY a couple of weeks ago.
The bass will as always be handled by Destiny main man Stefan Björnshög.

Long-running Gothenburg, Sweden-based metallers DESTINY have announced the addition of drummer Roger Christiansson to the group’s ranks. According to the band, Roger “is a passionate drummer, singer and multi-instrumentalist. He is also a composer both of music and lyrics. So far he has recorded and performed with bands like SOLID, RAMPAGE, ATTRAPP, SOUTHERN COMFORT BAND, FREAK STATION, GRINGOS and OVERNIGHT SENSATION. As an old HiFi enthusiast and with a keen interest to improve sound quality, he has plans to move into sound engineering. Roger and Stefan Björnshög [bass] have been friends for more than 25 years but this is actually the first time that they will play together. On a personnel level, Roger was the obvious choice and after just one rehearsal it was also quite clear that he will be the prefect drummer for DESTINY!”
DESTINY recently recruited DRAGONLAND vocalist Jonas Heidgert. Jonas has already begun to lay down vocals for DESTINY‘s upcoming anniversary album, “The Incompatibility Of Philosophical Terminology”, for a spring release, as well as the next official full-length CD, “Global Warming”, for which everything but the vocals has already recorded.
Fans will get their first taste of DESTINY with Jonas on vocals later this month when a digital single from “The Incompatibility Of Philosophical Terminology” is released.
Way back in 1982, bassist Stefan Björnshög founded one of Sweden’s first true heavy metal bands, DESTINY. Unlike most other Swedish acts that were active around the same period, DESTINY never broke up. In 2005, DESTINY was joined by guitarist Michael Åberg, who previously played with NOSTRADAMEUS.
Following a tour opening for former BLACK SABBATH vocalist Tony Martin in 2006, DESTINY kept an unusually low profile, partly because the band was unable to find a suitable vocalist and also because of illness and various personal tragedies.
This month, the legendary Gothenburg band DESTINY celebrates 30 years as a band. They will celebrate the anniversary with new music, old music, a number of gigs and some “happenings”, from now until November 2013!
Way back in 1982, bassist Stefan Björnshög founded one of Sweden’s first true heavy metal bands, DESTINY! Unlike most other Swedish bands in the genre that was active around the period, DESTINY never broke up. In 2005 current guitarist Michael Åberg , who previously played with NOSTRADAMEUS, joined Destiny.
DESTINY has released six albums so far, with not just one but two more on the way. Following a tour opening for former BLACK SABBATH vocalist Tony Martin in 2006, DESTINY has had an unusually low profile, partly because of the search for a new good enough vocalist, but also because of illness and some personal tragedies. Now, however, DESTINY is finally back, just in time for their big anniversary.
The band have also announced their new vocalist, Jonas Heidgert
is a very talented musician and far from a newcomer to the metal scene. In 2000 he released his first of five albums with DRAGON LAND
, where he both sang and played drums on the first two albums, before he chose to concentrate on the vocals on the last three. He has also recorded vocals for an album with DIABOLICUS
as well as touring with both DRAGON LAND
and the cover band METAL MONARCHS
Now, in November 2012 Jonas became the new singer of DESTINY. He has already begun to record vocals for the upcoming anniversary album “The Incompatibility of Philosophical Terminology” (scheduled for release in spring 2013) and the next album “Global Warming“, where everything but the vocals is already recorded.
In December you will get the first taste of DESTINY with Jonas on vocals as a digital single from the “The Incompatibility of Philosophical Terminology” is released.
