Heavy Metal icon, the mighty THOR, is preparing to unleash yet another storm of metallic fury with an all new studio album, Rising! Featuring Thor’s classic ’80s metal sound combined with modern influences, the new album creates a potent blend of old and new that has kept this metal viking thriving for over 4 decades. One song in particular from Rising, “The Party Never Ends”, pays tribute to Thor’s tireless love for his fans and his music that has driven him to continue to record and perform well into the years when most mere mortals have begun to make preparations for their journey into the hereafter. But not the immortal THOR! As he declares in the chorus of the new album’s first single, he is simply “too old to act my age” and instead commands his minions to “dim the lights and hit the stage, turn the Marshall up to 10, pack this auditorium!” It’s a fittingly triumphant track from the metal master who has kept the party going since 1977!
The lyric video for “The Party Never Ends”– comprised, appropriately enough, of unreleased footage from Thor’s 2019 tour of western Canada – is being debuted today on Jimmy Kay’s “The Metal Voice” website, at this location.
The new full-length, Rising, will be available on both CD and on limited edition GOLD vinyl starting February 28 courtesy of Deadline Music, a division of Cleopatra Records, Inc.

Jimmy Kay from Canada’s The Metal Voicespoke to The Canadian Metal Avenger Thor and his band (Ted Jedlicki Bass, Kevin Stuart Swain Co-producer, Tom Croxton Drums, Matt Hamilton Guitar) at The Metal Hall of Fame on January 15 2020 at the Marriot Delta in Anaheim California. THOR‘s new album ‘Rising’ will come out on February 28th via Cleopatra Records.
Watch the interview below.
When asked about the new album ‘Rising’
“The new album will be released on February 28 on Cleopatra Records when we start the North American tour in Seattle Washington.”
When asked about the musical direction on the new album vs the last album and the songs
“There are some pretty heavy cuts on this album like Wormhole, Defend or Die. The whole band contributed to the writing of the album. There is a song by co-producer Kevin Stuart Swain that is more of an alternative cut and very prolific, it’s called the Party Never ends and he also co-wrote the title The Rising. There is also the more heavy stuff from Bassist Ted Jedlicki and guitarist Matt Hamilton. Another song I wrote is called Power Mask, it’s about love, when you break up with your girlfriend you have to put on your mask, a facade. There is also a little science fiction too because I love fantasy.”
“Two singles will be coming out one is Wormhole and the other is the Party never ends so stay tuned.”
