THY ART IS MURDER, one of Australia’s top-heavy exports, released their seminal second album Hate on October 19, 2012. On January 14th, 2023, the band immortalized their sold-out ‘Decade Of Hate‘ Melbourne performance at The Forum. Fans can now own or stream the digital version of Decade Of Hate (Live In Melbourne),which is out today. The physical versions including a CD jewel and LP, will be available to the masses on November 17th.

THY ART IS MURDER‘s Andy Marsh comments, “When we set out to record our record Hate all those years ago, none of us could anticipate the ride of a lifetime we were about to embark upon. So it seemed fitting that when we announced this recent ‘Decade Of Hate tour’, we were again uncertain about what the shows would hold in store. They turned out to be the biggest of our career.
“Throughout this wild journey, it was only through the undying support of our friends and fans across the world that we were able to traverse these monolithic milestones and for that, we are forever grateful. To have a dream is one thing, but to live it is something truly special and you have given that privilege to us.
“In the last ten years, we attempted to cover as much ground on tour as possible, but this last anniversary tour was rather brief as we began preparations for our new record Godlike. With the help of our incredible crew, we are proud to give you HATE in full, the way we imagined we might one day be able to one day present the songs. For all those who couldn’t make it to a show, and for anyone who just wants to relive the experience it has now been immortalized on wax for all to hear.”

THY ART IS MURDER and FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY make the following joint statement: “Before we had even completed work on ‘The Depressions Sessions’ we knew a lifelong friendship had been forged between THY ART IS MURDER and FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY, and that we would have to do another variation of the project. ‘The Aggression Sessions’ concept was born almost immediately following the completion of the first iteration but has taken many years to finally find the time to record and release it amidst the chaotic touring and music release schedules of both bands. We wanted to take things back to some of our favorite inspirations for writing and performing heavy and aggressive music this time, encapsulating the tone of the EP title. We hope everyone enjoys!

Another masterclass in the kind of extremity that’s elevated THY ART IS MURDER to one of Australia’s top-heavy exports, Today, the band unveils the lyric video for their new single, “Killing Season”. The song is rooted in the band’s sonic origins with its classic bone-crunching death metal paired with a relentless ferocity that takes a wrecking ball to all in its path.
In keeping with the band’s tradition of shining a floodlight on socio-political trauma and history’s atrocities, the lyrics for “Killing Season” are inspired by the whitewashing of colonialism, and the song tackles the brutal reality of systemic racism in the western world head-on. Written on Thanksgiving 2019, “Killing Season” examines the genesis of the national holiday and its lesser-known bloody history that’s far from the sanitized version celebrated annually.
Guitarist Andy Marsh explains: “’Killing Season’ is a crushing old school sounding Thy Art track that we put together towards the end of 2019, to be used somewhere in 2020 for a release or tour promo. We wanted to release it now as a gift to our fans who have supported us throughout this year by continuing to listen to our music, buying merch, or simply sending us messages of support. It means the world to us! ‘Killing Season” touches on the darkness surrounding the origins of Thanksgiving, and while that subject is relevant at this time of year, we want you to think of the atrocities both past and present that deserve acknowledgment.”
“Killing Season” is the first taste of new music from the masters of brutality since the release of their earth-scorching fifth record, Human Target. Originally intended for another release, THY ART IS MURDER decided to release the track to say thank you to all the fans who have stood by them during the global pandemic and the chaos of 2020.

Jesse comments, “‘Eye for an Eye’ was the first song I heard from Human Target as it was the first one to be drafted in the writing process. I really liked the vibe of the track, it’s pretty moody with a good Thy Art kind of feel and was the most challenging song for me to record. Overall it’s a good example of how we’re trying to push ourselves instrumentally, while keeping the song writing at the forefront.
The hardest part to track was definitely the buildup to the last breakdown as the pattern is tricky to get the feel right. You can actually hear the floor tom distort because I was so pissed off during the tracking of that part. It’s also got the fastest double bass on the record, with 4 bar segments of 270bpm 16th notes in the verses.”
THY ART IS MURDER‘s earth-scorching fifth record, Human Target, was unleashed unto the world on July 26, 2019 via Nuclear Blast (ROW) and Human Warfare (AU/NZ). The band offers fans the music video for the fourth single, “New Gods“. Guitarist Andy Marsh comments, “‘New Gods‘ is interwoven in theme with the song ‘Chemical Christ’, discussing the idea of mental health and modern inventions’ intervention with a natural state of consciousness. The idea that social media is one of the major driving forces of increasing levels of depression in the western world was fascinating to us, and we thought what better way to use the platform ironically to discuss these ideas than by using an aspect ratio designed specifically for it. We hope you watch the clip and then put your phone down, life is better through the eye of the beholder than the lens of an algorithm.”
