According to San Diego Reader,  The sentencing of AS I LAY DYING Frontman Tim Lambesis for soliciting a hit man to kill his wife was delayed two weeks, from this morning, May 2, until May 16.

The As I Lay Dying frontman and admitted would-be-assassin only spoke one word to the judge today, “Yeah,” when he confirmed that he would show up on the future date.

Lambesis pleaded guilty to a single felony charge, solicitation of murder, last February. The maximum possible sentence is nine years, according to the prosecutor, Claudia Grasso.

On the day of sentencing, it is expected that the family of the victim, wife Meggan, will speak to the court.

Lambesis solicited the assassination of his wife from a trainer at a gym called Pure Fitness, located in Carlsbad. That trainer turned him down but then contacted police, who set up a sting. The fake hit man allegedly asked a fee of $20,000.

Lambesis was arrested at a bookstore in Oceanside on May 7, 2013, after he handed an envelope to an undercover agent containing photos of his wife, cash, and gate codes to her condo.

Meggan Lambesis had filed divorce paperwork eight months earlier. Tim allegedly complained she would not let him take the kids on tour with him and that she was spending all the money on divorce attorneys.

Tim Lambesis, now 33, was in custody 24 days before posting $2 million bail. He has been at liberty for almost a year, on house arrest, wearing a GPS monitor.

Lambesis’s lawyers have suggested that his behavior changed after he began taking steroids at the gym.

Tim Lambesis is next due in San Diego’s North County Superior Courthouse on May 16.

According to NBC San Diego, AS I LAY DYING frontman Tim Lambesis pleaded guilty to his role in a murder-for-hire plot.

Lambesis, 32, entered the change of plea in court Tuesday, admitting that he hired a hit man to kill his estranged wife.

According to Radio.com, Lambesis‘ attorney offered no stipulated plea deal, which means the judge has the freedom to apply whatever sentence he determines appropriate, with a maximum of 9 years in state prison plus 4 years parole after release.

Sentencing is set for May 2 in front of the Honorable Judge Carlos Armor.

Prosecutors alleged Lambesis had twice told a man at a gym that he wanted his wife killed, then met with an undercover detective known as “Red“, and gave the agent an envelope containing $1,000 in cash, photographs of his wife, and the security gate code to her house. He also allegedly told the agent the dates he would be with the couple’s three adopted children, in order to give himself an alibi.

A number of witnesses testified for the prosecution during a September 2013 hearing, including the undercover officer who posed as a hitman. The officer explained that Lambesis told him, “Just to clarify, just so you know, I do want her dead.”

Investigators say the undercover cop operation was staged after Lambesis told a man at his gym at Pure Fitness back on April 23, 2013 that he wanted his wife killed. Lambesis was allegedly complaining that she was making life difficult for him, that it was hard for him to see his children and that it was impossible for them to complete their divorce.

“[Lambesis said that] he wasn’t allowed to visit his kids, he wasn’t allowed to see his kids, he wasn’t allowed to take his kids out of the state to go on tour with him, and that angered him,” the undercover officer testified. “And the fact that his wife was gonna get a large portion — up to 60 percent — of his income [as part of a divorce settlement].”

The singer at one time has said he considered himself to be a Christian and acknowledged that he found inspiration for lyrical content from biblical texts.

Lambesis‘ attorney said the “gym culture” led to “changes in [the singer’s] physiological and mental status,” with Tim‘s bodybuilding obsession causing him to go from 170 to 220 pounds after first taking supplements, then steroids. “[He] was not the same person. He was irritable and lost God.”

Tim‘s wife Meggan filed papers in September 2012 in San Diego Superior Court seeking a dissolution of the couple’s marriage.

The couple had adopted three children from Ethiopia in recent years.

Lambesis was released on $2 million bail in May 2013 with the requirement that he wear a GPS monitor and stay away from his wife and kids.

A singer for a California rock band, who is under house arrest for allegedly hiring a hitman to kill his wife, was granted permission to get out for a little therapy.

“Defendant Timothy Lambesis is currently on house arrest and due to the restrictions of his release cannot leave the house to seek medical attention for the neck injury from which he is currently suffering.” This statement was made by the defendant’s private attorney, Thomas Warwick Jr., who filed papers asking a court to allow Lambesis exceptions to his house arrest.

Superior Court Judge Kimberlee Lagotta signed an order allowing “defendant to go to his physical therapy appointments” the same day the motion was filed, August 2, 2013.

The lead singer for the heavy metal band AS I LAY DYING particularly requested, and was granted, permission to go to a therapist named Lanele Stafford at Coast Kinesiology in Del Mar. There was one other location named as a destination for therapy, an orthopedic group in La Jolla, which was also allowed by the court.

On the website for Coast Kinesiology, a person named Lanele Stafford described herself: “I have obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular & Molecular Biology, and a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology with emphasis in Sport Medicine & Injury. I am also a certified Holistic Health Practitioner.”

The divorce of Timothy Lambesis from his wife Meggan could be finalized by that time. Mrs. Meggan Lambesis filed for dissolution of their 8-year marriage in September of 2012.

Timothy Lambesis was arrested on May 7th, 2013, after he gave an envelope full of incriminating evidence to a man named “Red” whom he thought was a hitman, but was actually an undercover officer, according to a prosecutor. The envelope contained cash for “expenses” and the address and gate codes and instructions on how to get into his wife’s residence, Deptuy District Attorney Claudia Grasso has alleged.

Tim Lambesis, 32, pleads not guilty to one felony, solicitation to commit murder. The maximum possible prison sentence is nine years, the prosecutor said.

ABC10 is reporting that Tim Lambesis, frontman for San Diego-based AS I LAY DYING, who is accused of trying to arrange the murder of his estranged wife, posted bail and left the Vista Detention Facility on Thursday, May 30th.

Bail for the As I Lay Dying frontman was slashed on May 17th, from $3 million to $2 million.

Lambesis was booked by police on May 7th, and held on suspicion of solicitation to commit murder. He has pleaded not guilty.

Lambesis was arrested at an Oceanside bookstore after he allegedly asked an undercover detective to kill his spouse, Meggan, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

The defendant allegedly gave the detective an envelope containing $1,000, photos of his wife, her address and the code to get through a security gate. He also allegedly gave dates when the “hit” could take place — days when he had his children, saying that would be his alibi, investigators said.

Authorities began investigating the defendant about a week prior to his arrest after they said they got word he was allegedly trying to find someone to kill his wife of eight years.

The Encinitas resident filed for divorce from Lambesis last September, according to Billboard magazine, a music industry publiation that also reported the couple has three adopted children from Ethiopia.

Grasso alleged that Lambesis originally approached someone in a gym and asked if the individual knew anyone who would kill his wife.

Lambesis later met with the undercover agent posing as a hit man — code name “Red” — according to Grasso.

“Red” asked Lambesis if he wanted his wife of eight years gone, and the defendant replied, “Yes, that’s what I want,” the prosecutor alleged.
