Jimmy Kay from Canada’s The Metal Voice along with Queenryche’s singer Todd LaTorre interviewed guitarist Michael Gilbert and singer A.K. Knutson about their new album ‘Blood in the Water’ which will be released June 4 2021 via AFM Records.
Michael Gilbert spoke about the release of the new album in the context of trying to outdo the bands last effort (The End of Chaos) he said,” We weren’t sure what the outcome was going to be when we started writing for it. Are we going to be able to top the Chaos record? That was kind of a stress we were having. When it all started coming together and you listen to AK on this, with huge choruses and I think I am really proud of it and I think the rest of the guys in the band are too. If it is not better than Chaos it is just as good.”
Singer A.K. continued, ” This album was a lot of fun to do but at the same time we were taking apart every two seconds of every song. Is this going to be right? Is this good enough? It was just on and on about making sure every last bit of it was cool. After a while we were just like it’s fine, it is what it is, if people like it they like it, if they don’t, they don’t.”
Todd LaTorre also chimed in about potentially touring together as a opening solo act for the band on a few dates, LaTorre said,” I can play my own (solo) shows and I would love to jump on some shows with Flotsam as an opener, just to get in front of that kind of audience that is heavier and more thrashy.”

Progressive rock/metal sensation METHODICA have teamed up with Metal Shock Finland to premiere for Finnish territory their new official lyric video for “A Dystopian Tale”, feat. Queensryche’s TODD LA TORRE.
METHODICA are back with a new exploration of progressive rock/metal for your ears, second single off the band’s upcoming third record ‘Clockworks’, to be released worldwide October 2nd. Dark and hypnotic drums bringing lights and shadows, massive guitar riffs drawing futuristic images, electronic sounds and modern dubstep samples: “A Dystopian Tale” takes you to a world where humans are ruled and controlled by thinking machines, and technology is suddenly an enemy instead of a friend. The track features an extraordinary performance of Queensryche’s very own Todd La Torre on vocals which makes it unmissable for any prog lover.

“The track is about a dystopian dark future, where machines rule over mankind. That’s only imagination, but you can find a clear connection with the current human addiction to technology. We asked Todd La Torre to be featured on “A Dystopian Tale” during our 2017 European tour as support for Queensryche. The song felt perfect for a duet, and Todd’s voice was just what the mood of the song needed. He enthusiastically accepted, and when we heard his vocal sessions we were left absolutely amazed. We are very proud of what we’ve achieved here, hope you’re going to love it too.”

The band recently issued the following update:
“It looks like the January 3rd show just got a little bit bigger and better! Pamela Moore and her band will be opening up the night for us at the Snoqualmie Casino and will also be joined on stage by METAL CHURCH singer Ronny Munroe!! It’s going to be a great night….so don’t miss out! VIP tix here.”
In a follow up post from the band, fans are advised that due to casino policy Pamela Moore must go on at 7:50pm and be done no later than 8:25pm in order for Queensrÿche to get on stage ASAP. Make sure you’re there early.
Queensrÿche have premiered their new video, Ad Lucem, The tracks, ‘Spore’, ‘Midnight Lullaby’ and ‘A World Without’ provide the score to this 10-plus minute mini-movie.
“We decided to take a different approach with this video,” comments La Torre. “It’s a conceptual music video that invites the audience to scratch beneath the surface a bit, rather than the usual ‘chewed food’ that so many are used to being fed. We really wanted to deviate from a performance type of video so the music and story-line could be the main focus.”
La Torre also adds, “The overall theme of the song ‘Spore’ is one that deals with personal demons, relationship struggles, career pressures, personal/professional morals and ethical dilemmas. These are issues we all face on some level and the video touches upon them all. ‘Midnight Lullaby’/’A World Without’ deals with the loss of a mother during childbirth, leaving a father as a single parent and struggling to move forward through the turmoil. The end result is a roller coaster of emotion in an effort to find a healthy resolve. Given our history, we feel that this multifaceted conceptual video, along with a great cast of actors to suit, will really resonate with our fans.”
