Wildfire Festival 2016: Announce First Day Splits

With Saturday headliners still to be announced, one full stage still to be confirmed and over 40 acts already booked, there is no rest for the Wildfire Festival team. Scotland’s top rock and metal weekend and Metal Shock Finland’s Utilifest Project partners, Wildfire Festival, is set to host it’s fifth annual event on Friday 24th until Sunday 26th June in the picturesque 53 acres of Wiston Lodge, near Biggar, South Lanarkshire.

With headline acts including Tim “Ripper” Owens and New York’s Riot, plus Vardis, Forever Never and Sweden’s Gormathon, Wildfire 2016 will be one of this years unmissable events on the Summer Festival circuit.
Trying to make sense of the magnitude of the celebratory event, organisers have now released the first draft of day splits for 2016 as follows:

Festival Director Dave Ritchie, states:
“We hope to announce final running order, stage times and Saturday’s headline act early in February. We also hope to have our third stage confirmed, with details of all the acts playing, in the very near future too. It is a very busy period for us now.”

Scotland’s top rock and metal weekend and Metal Shock Finland’s Utilifest Project partners, Wildfire Festival, brings two late additions to the event as organisers end 2015 in league with the devil. Joining the already massive recent announcements of “Ripper” Owens, Riot V, Gormathon, Vardis and Forever Never, are DEMONS OF OLD METAL. Their new record “Dominion” released on December 7th 2015, is a groove laden masterpiece and having the band warm up the crowd for our main event on Friday is a great fit for the 5th anniversary event.
They will be joined by one of the UK’s prime up and coming Heavy Metal bands, DENDERA, combining classic metal with an aggressive modern edge, they are another killer and very welcome addition to one of the countries finest rock and metal events.

With a line up that now comprises:

Metal Shock Finland’s Utilifest Project partners at Scotland’s Wildfire Festival have announced more bands for the 2016 line up. The festival have released the following statement:
Brace yourselves for another sledgehammer announcement as Wildfire Festival 2016 is pulling out all the stops to bring the cream of rock and metal heritage to Scotland next year.

The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal faithful are spoilt with the confirmed addition of the 100mph blitzkrieg that is VARDIS. Sadly news reached us today about the untimely passing of bass player Terry Horbury, but the band are determined to continue, showcase the new album and leave the legacy that Terry so richly deserves, it will be a poignant show indeed.These NWOBHM luminaries join the already announced Spartan Warrior, Soldier and The Deep as the NWOBHM renaissance gains even more momentum.

Wildfire also welcomes UK modern metallic rockers Forever Never. A band who originally made tsunami sized waves in the 00’s, their recent reformation is sure to warrant a similar ground-shaking response when they hit Scotland in 2016!

The monstrously heavy Gormathon are set to vanquish Scottish shores when they bring their melodic death metal all the way from Sweden while the ‘heavy’ quota is maintained by Scotland’s own Excellent Cadaver, prog metal mavericks Turbyne and the ingenious barreling rhythms of Vice.

Hard rock lovers are well catered for with the cacophonous convoy of Massive Wagons rolling through Wiston Lodge, the ever-welcome Bad Touch, the majesterial melody of The King Lot, the whiskey-ravaged sleaze of Hell’s Addiction, the hard-edged classic rock of One Last Run, the atmospheric artistry of Crowsaw and the hypnotic dark riffs of Broken Chords adding further class to proceedings.

For those who love their thrash, Wildfire have bought back the coruscating carnage of Solitary while Wretched Soul – a band who’ve been laying waste to UK venues in 2015 with their terrifying brand of death/thrash – and the immense sound of melodic thrashers Immension make their first appearance.

Two undisputed highlights from 2015’s second stage return to Scotland in the formidable shape of up and coming traditional thrashers Die No More and proud purveyors of Southern rock boogie Thirteen Stars. Missed ’em last time? This is your chance to make amends!

Also confirmed are anthemic alt-rockers Banshee, riff-worshippers Nest Of Vipers, vanguards of vintage hard rock Orangefall and the pop/punk perfection of Altered Sky.

WILDFIRE FESTIVAL 2016: Announce Fourteen Bands

Our Utilifest Project Partners at Wildfire Festival, Scotland’s only 3 day rock and metal festival returns in 2016 to celebrate its 5th anniversary. The now well established and highly acclaimed event returns to Wiston Lodge, with 3 stages over 3 days and with over 60 acts! Bigger and better than ever before. 2016’s festival is set to take place from 24-26th June.
Friday nights headline act confirmed as, an exclusive one off UK performance from Grammy Nominated Tim “Ripper” Owens (Judas Priest, Iced Earth, Beyond Fear, Yngwie Malmsteen’s Rising Force, Charred Walls of the Damned).
Festival Director Dave Ritchie states “This is a bit of a coup for us in 2016 as Tim – who is very passionate about supporting grass roots events – will fly in from the US, to perform tracks from Judas Priest “Live in London” album and for die hard fans you will get to hear tracks from both Demolition and Jugulator!”

“But we have a whole host of other great bands confirmed too” he says including, the highly acclaimed rockers, Colour of Noise, Hellbound Hearts featuring Danny Lambert (ex-Terrorvision) the hardcore metal of RSJ and Ireland’s Screaming Eagles, to name a few.
The announcement continues with the confirmation of, Irish rockers Maverick, power metallers Avenford, recent winners at H2H, Stone Broken and the outstanding Chasing Dragons.
“We had a strong contingent of NWOBHM followers last year” continues Ritchie “So in addition to Soldier, already recently announced, we add the might of The Deep and Spartan Warrior to the 2016 line up and we still have our eye on a few more!”
With our minds very much focused on the 5th anniversary element we have also invited back some of our favourites from the previous 4 events including groove metallers, Mad Hatter 2.0 and another Northern Irish metal act, Sinocence, both previously very well received.
The final act in this our second announcement are Death/Trash metal act All Consumed who make the journey north for their first ever Wildfire and impressed our scouting network recently, in Dundee.
