‘Nekyia’ introduces a new side of WINTERAGE, thanks to an even more bombastic and theatrical feel.
The present course of the Italian symphonic power metal band is extremely influenced by the epic-cinematic style of Two Steps From Hell and opera music; the sheer heavy metal impact has been strengthened too.
From high-pitched notes to dramatic operatic vocals, from folk instruments to the mighty orchestral sound, from furious blast-beats to extremely fast guitar riffs and solos, this album truly display the sensational Winterage evolution: the first chapter of a passionate and grandiose tale.
‘Nekyia’ album will be released on July 7th via Scarlet Records.
produced by Winterage; recorded and mixed by Gabriele Ravaglia and Gianmarco Bambini at Fear Studio and Tommy Talamanca at Nadir Music Studio
mastered by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Amaranthe, Katatonia, Evergrey)

Symphonic power metallers WINTERAGE have released a video for the song ‘The Inheritance of Beauty’ – the titletrack of their second album released by Scarlet Records last January.
This is how the band commented: “”They’re observing the beauty / No one is looking at where her gaze is turned” – the search for pure beauty must never cease to exist in an artist, nor must be replaced by a personal gain. With this song and video, we wanted to create something beautiful which can make grow the awareness of what is right, pure and valid grow into the hearts of the listeners. The inheritance of beauty lives within everyone: it’s up to us to have the courage to revive it.”
Over 50 musicians and other professionals took part in the production of ‘The Inheritance of Beauty’, including Tommy Talamanca (Sadist), Roberto Tiranti (Labyrinth) and Vito Lo Re (Rhapsody Of Fire). Simone Coen (Chocolate Studio, Apple) mixed the album and Jacob Hansen (Amaranthe, Epica, Fleshgod Apocalypse) took care of the mastering duties. The beautiful and evocative artwork was made by Peter Sàllai (Sabaton, Hammerfall, Amon Amarth).
Symphonic power metallers WINTERAGE have released a video for the song ‘Orpheus and Eurydice’, in coincidence with the official release of their new album ‘The Inheritance Of Beauty’.
This is how the band commented: “The song displays the wide spectrum of sounds and influences within Winterage’s music: from power metal to opera singing, violin melodies, folk interludes and symphonic orchestrations. It tells the ancient story of Orpheus and his descent into hell in the presence of Hades, in order to bring his wife Eurydice back to life. The video climax is reached during their ascension to earth while he turns his glance to her (quoting ‘The Metamorphoses’ by Ovid)”.
Featuring Fiamma Odorico as Eurydice, the videoclip was directed and edited by Giancarlo Galante (VisionAir Production).

Having previously released the critically acclaimed debut album ‘The Harmonic Passage’ (2015) and shared the stage with renowned bands such as Angra, Moonspell, Elvenking, Dark Moor and many others, Winterage are now ready to unleash their full potential and reach a broader audience with their new, ambitious effort, a powerful Symphonic metal album with strong influences coming from Irish folk, classical and medieval music. Alongside the typical rock instruments the band is known for the presence of a violin in the line-up and the use of a full orchestra and a choir during the recording process. “Music is something that doesn’t take place here and now, but that is somewhere else and in another moment…it’s a glance cast beyond the closed door…”
In 2008 WINTERAGE, an Italian symphonic power metal band, was born from the idea of two professional musicians: violinist Gabriele Boschi and keyboardist Dario Gisotti. Together with guitarist Riccardo Gisotti, the band immediately began writing their own compositions in a power metal style with classical and traditional music influences. 2010 brought the entrance of two new members, drummer Davide Bartoli and bassist Matteo Raganini, led to the start of local live activity, which obtained a good response from the audience. With the arrival of singer Daniele Barbarossa and new self-published songs, the single ‘Forest of Consciousness’ was released in 2012 as part of the soundtrack of an independent horror film. In 2013, the band prepared for the launch of their first LP, with profitable live activity that sees them in several gigs, including those with bands ELVENKING and DARK MOOR. The band began recording their debut album in 2014 for the Nadir Music label, collaborating with a real symphonic orchestra that will provide an impressive and enriched sound.
The full session of WINTERAGE, recently released by Nadir Music, shows a truly remarkable and marvelous work that includes and combines the brilliant technique of more than 50 young professional musicians. Using their energy and talent they create this new album in collaboration with a real symphonic orchestra, which enhances a powerful sound in a journey between classical music and power metal.
Although the audience could find some similarities in the genre with other bands that are part of this soundscape, such as RHAPSODY OF THE FIRE and ELVENKING, the valuable element of the album is that every single sound has its own authenticity. Traveling across the album, we can find some example that explain the potential of this new band. Starting from the first song, ‘Ouverture in Do Minore’, we begin the journey through the magical portal (see the album’s cover) to the world of WINTERAGE. This portal guides us to the mystical sound inspired by The Lord of the Rings and the story of Merlin throughout the album to the final track, ‘Awakening’, in which there are some multiple movements of classical music that are easily recognizable, conforming and recalling a safe sound but still innovating it. In the song ‘Son of Winter’, the listeners discover the female voice of Silvia Traverso, a truly amazing and interesting singer that arouses a sense of completeness in a symphonic opera, which is usually needed to extend the ideal image of this genre. She will surely be included in the world of female metal singers.
The musical knowledge and instrumental techniques of the musicians make all these compositions very pleasant to listen to. The thing I want to highlight is that all these souls are destined to create music, since as professional musicians they devote themselves into constantly improving it. So it seems right to me to mention all the members who worked on the creation of this excellent project (see full listing below). In the future I will go to one of their concerts since I’m curious to hear them in a live performance. If they keep up with all the promises settled in this album, WINTERAGE will be recognized and we will hear about this new promising band very soon.
