Amberian Dawn To Record New Album In The Summer

Finnish female-fronted symphonic metallers AMBERIAN DAWN will enter the studio in the summer to begin recording their new album. AMBERIAN DAWN mainman, keyboardist and guitarist Tuomas Seppälä composed all ten songs for the CD and vocalist Heidi Parviainen has already started working on the lyrics.

Commented Tuomas: “There’s going to be some changes in our working methods and the next album is going to sound different compared to our previous albums. We’re going to use backing vocalists, for example. Earlier we have had only guest lead singers and no backing vocalists at all. There’s some really fast songs on this album and also some ’80s- style songs like ‘Valkyries’ and ‘Kokko’ from our previous albums. Technically, there’s great challenges for the band and all the skills possessed by the new lineup will be essential. We’re going to break some new limits again and lift the level of our quality even higher than before. With some guest vocalists or musicians on this album, just like on all our previous albums, this new album is going to be more solid than our latest album, ‘End Of Eden’.”

Added Heidi: “There’s going to be some new elements on the lyrics, for example some horror themes”.

“Arctica” comes off AMBERIAN DAWN‘s third album, “End Of Eden”, which was released in October 2010 via Spinefarm Records.

Abysmalia Working On New Album

ABYSMALIA, the Finnish modern thrash/progressive metal project formed by Jouni Koskela (CLOCK PARADOX, NOME, LIQUORWORKS), is currently writing material for its fourth album, tentatively titled “Amid Adversities”. Whereas previous CDs were solely written by Koskela, the songwriting on “Amid Adversities” will feature contributions from Antti Jylhä and Marko Nikula.

Commented the band: “We are hoping to finish songwriting in January, so that we can rehearse couple of months and start recording around February-March 2011 for a summer release. Some tracks are already finished, [including] ‘Scarred In Subliminal Slumber’ and ‘Endeavours Inane’, and the band aims, as usual, for a seven-piece conceptual album clocking a bit over half an hour of audial chaos.

“The material that has been put together thus far is more accessible than our previous works. Not necessarily as straightforward or focused as [ABYSMALIA‘s second album, 2009’s] ‘Quid Humanum Est’ was, but definitely easier on the listener than [2010’s] ‘Replenish Entirety’. This, however, does not mean a decrease in aggression — quite the contrary.”

Crimfall Completes Work On New Album

Finnish folk metal band CRIMFALL has issued the following update:

“We are currently holding the mastered version of our second album in our hands. Mastering was done by our dear neighbor Jens Bogren [Opeth, Soilwork, Katatonia, Paradise Lost, Bloodbath] at Fascination Street [in Örebro, Sweden]… And it sounds awesome…. brutal and HUGE!!! Actually it was already mastered few weeks back, but we made a little changes to the CD texts yesterday and did not want to tell these news until it was 100% ready.”

CRIMFALL‘s new album will be released in March 2011 via Spinefarm Records. The CD was recorded at Adamantium Studios and was produced and mixed by Hit Happens. It features guest appearances by Tapio Wilska (Surviors Zero), Ville Sorvali (Moonsorrow), Mathias “Vreth” Lillmåns (Finntroll, Chthonian, Decomposter), Mathias Nygård (Turisas), Olli Vänskä (Turisas) and Trollhorn (Finntroll, Moonsorrow).

Commented Hannu Lehtonen of Spinefarm: “It is great to have CRIMFALL as a new artist on Spinefarm. I can honestly say that the band’s forthcoming second album is worth the wait. The band is in killer shape and has recorded an excellent piece of music which will be released in spring 2011.”

CRIMFALL added in a statement: “For CRIMFALL this alliance is a great leap in what has been a long painful march. This definitely opens up a new chapter in our history and the expectations are high since it finally seems we have found a partner that shares our faith in CRIMFALL‘s music and potential.”

Wintersun Working On New Album

Finnish folk-metal band Wintersun is working on new Album, “Time”. The band frontman Jari Mäenpää has issued the following update:

“I´ve been working very hard with the synths&orchestrations and I can finally say that I´m feeling very positive about finishing this long and gruesome task by christmas. So hopefully around the end of December I can finally start mixing the album. I still have a few vocal parts unfinished, but I will be singing them meanwhile I´m mixing.

“The only problem about the mixing is that my current computer gear simply cannot handle these insanely huge projects. And the other problem is that I have no money for new gear. So we have discussed about this problem with our label&management and they have agreed to help us with an advance to buy new and more powerful computer gear, but only if we agree to play a few shows and show people that Wintersun is still alive. So after carefully weighting all the different possibilies, we think we need to play these shows to help the completion of the album.

The shows will be for now: Metalfest (3 shows), Metalcamp (1 show)

“There´s lot of work and preparation to do for these shows, ´cause we have to update our live gear as well, sort out technical difficulties and of course rehearse the songs. This will most likely affect negatively with the mixing schedule, so I can´t give any predictions with that yet. I also need to try out the new computer gear first and see how it handles these projects. The software is still not 64-bit, so the “infamous 4GB RAM limit” might also be a problem with the mixing, since these projects already eat about 3GB without any plugins. But I will do my best to overcome this challenge the fastest way I can.

“And no worries, these shows will definitely not be cancelled. So we are looking forward to you guys, see you at the gigs! Who knows, we might even play a one new riff… I mean a song! ;)”

Nodding Sky: Working On New Album

Finnish Metal Band Nodding Sky has recently issued the following update on band’s blog:

“We’re almost there. As I told before, we did enter the studio Noisecamp 22.10. and spent three long and intense days of playing and swearing until we had all our instrument tracks recorded for all 3 songs. After that Mr. Teräs screamed his last throes yesterday (3.11.) and we retreated to wait for the final mix. It should be ready during next week or two. We were confident about our songs before the studio sessions, and I could say now that we are happy with the outcome – even though it hasn’t been mixed yet. So, within a week or two you can hear what kind of noise we managed to produce.”

Circle Of Contempt Working On New Album

Finnish metallers Circle Of Contempt are best known for their brutal assault of technical precision and unhinged rage, but the band will now harness this energy in a different way as it prepares to join the military in order to serve its country.

Commented the group: “It’s a very tricky time in camp Contempt right now, with Finland law forcing a military trip for numerous members in January that will result in six months of service. However, until then, we are currently hard at work in the rehearsal room laying down the sections for our second album that will definitely turn some heads. We are determined to create a more aggressive, dynamic and mature offering showing our continued growth as a band.”

Added management representative Carl Sewell: “It’s an exciting-yet-tricky time right now with members having to take time off touring for their mandatory military session, which means they will be out harder than ever come summer to make up for lost time. The new album is a real step forward and summer 2011 will see the Circle of Contempt wave of brutality unleashed worldwide.”
