WOVENWAR Premieres Video for New Single “Lines In The Sand”

This Friday (October 21st), WOVENWAR will release their sophomore album, Honor Is Dead, via Metal Blade Records. More aggressive and fluid than its self-titled predecessor, Honor Is Dead was written with contributions from all members, while the music for WOVENWAR was mostly written before vocalist Shane Blay joined the band. The results speak for themselves, capturing a group that sounds truly unified, and hungry.

For Honor Is Dead, Wovenwar chose not to converge at the same studio to lay down the record, taking advantage of modern technology instead by recording their individual parts in convenient locales across California, Alabama and Texas – which was not without its downsides. “Recording separately across multiple states at different times with a mixing engineer bouncing between multiple countries made things very tricky,” guitarist Nick Hipa admits. “Luckily we’ve all made records before and everything ended up working out.” Expanding upon the ruthlessly catchy melodies and hooks of their debut, Honor Is Dead makes for a listening experience with real depth, and a broad emotional range. Driven by a darker lyrical theme, the album’s 11 tracks hit with devastating force – see below for the official track-listing!

WOVENWAR In Studio Recording Second Full-Length Album

After releasing their self-titled debut in 2014 to critical acclaim, WOVENWAR has now entered the studio to record the follow-up to this highly successful album, for a late summer/early fall 2016 release via Metal Blade Records.

Wovenwar comments:
“Recording for the second Wovenwar album is officially underway with the drum tracking being completed and the process moving into the guitar tracking phase. Several months worth of demos have been condensed into eleven new songs we are very proud of. The process found us expanding upon our melodic sound with a darker and more aggressive approach – utilizing elements restrained on our debut but familiar to our cumulative history.
Nolly Getgood (Periphery) is onboard to handle mixing duties. We look forward to hearing how his versatile talents elevate our sound and direction.
We’re looking to have the recording process wrapped up in the next couple months and hope to have the album out sometime late summer/early fall. Until then please keep up with us on all band socials for updates.”

San Diego’s heavy metal act WOVENWAR recently performed a special show at Brick By Brick on July 10th. It was an intimate show, full of the band’s friends and family, and they took the opportunity to film a portion of the set for a new video. “Archers” can be seen now on YouTube below (or Vimeo). The video was shot by Josh Knoff and directed/edited by Nick Hipa.

Hipa adds: “Our video for “Archers” is cut from live footage-filmed by Josh Knoff-from our recent hometown show at Brick by Brick. The lyrics heavily reference specific themes and songs from Shane’s previous band (Oh, Sleeper) as a sentimental nod to how that chapter in his life was unforgettably formidable. With that in mind, it felt appropriate to create a visual edit captured from our venue in a room filled with quite a bit of family and friends… it kinda just completes the whole vibe as positively nostalgic.“

On iTunes, the album peaked at #2 on the rock charts, and #1 on the metal charts during its week of release. WOVENWAR have teamed up with Loudwire to exclusively debut their new music video for the track “Death to Rights“. The clip was directed by Josh Klein and Nick Hipa. Check it out now directly at Loudwire.com HERE.

Phil Sgrosso (guitars) states: “Here is our new music video for our song, ‘Death To Rights’. The clip is mainly performance based and incorporates manipulated imagery relating to our album art. We are stoked to share it with you all. See you soon.“

Swedish Metallers IN FLAMES are currently touring Europe, supporting their fresh album “Siren Charms”, out on Sony Music. In collaboration with Live Nation, IN FLAMES will play a one-off show in Italy on October 2nd at Live Music Club in Milan. The support comes from WHILE SHE SLEEPS and WOVENWAR.
