With the imminent surge of LOCRIAN‘s punishing “Infinite Dissolution” LP set to inundate the human population via Relapse Records in just two weeks, another distressing single from the record has been premiered via Steel For Brains with ‘Arc Of Extinction’ now playing alongside an intense interrogation of the band.
Amidst their nearly two-dozen releases over the past decade, “Infinite Dissolution” will mark LOCRIAN‘s second album for Relapse, during the band’s celebration of its tenth anniversary this year. Recorded at Steve Albini-owned/operated Electrical Audio in Chicago, produced by Greg Norman (Pelican, Russian Circles), mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (Yob, Integrity, Sleep), and with artwork based on a massive installation by sculptor David Altmejd, “Infinite Dissolution” is a nearly fifty-minute-long concept album dealing with the struggle of human extinction; a seamless and harrowing blend of dark ambiance, drone, black metal, post-rock, and power electronics. Steel For Brains interrogated the members of LOCRIAN, the interview now seeing publication alongside the premiere of the awakening album opener ‘Arc Of Extinction,’ which sets the stage for “Infinite Dissolution”‘s mesmerizing broadcast of our planet’s ecosystems through the band’s most intense palette of post-industrial/blackened cinematic sorcery to date.
Previously released singles from “Infinite Dissolution” include Noisey’s premiere of ‘Heavy Water’ at this location and the three-part ‘An Index Of Air’ streaming via Soundcloud here.
In addition to LOCRIAN‘s Midwestern shows in Detroit and Chicago on July 17th and 18th, the band has just confirmed a leg of West Coast US tour dates in August in support of “Infinite Dissolution”. From August 16th through the 22nd the band will flood the western half of the country with their demoralizing auditory fabrications, with shows in Boise, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Sacramento confirmed, and at least four more dates being added to this itinerary in the next few days. Special tenth anniversary performance plans are coming together for this Fall, which will be followed by a European tour in early 2016.
“Infinite Dissolution” will see its release on July 24th, 2015 on CD, vinyl and digital formats.
