Italian tech-death masters HOUR OF PENANCE have officially begun recording their tenth studio album & follow-up to “Devotion” from 2024. The recordings are taking place at Bloom Recording Studio with producer & bass player Marco Mastrobuono.

HOUR OF PENANCE comments: “With immense pleasure we have finally walked through the door of the Bloom Recording Studio once again, the same studio where we’ve recorded our last 2 albums (Misotheism and Devotion ) with our bass player – gear nerd – producer Marco Mastrobuono behind the mixing desk. Our drummer Giacomo Torti have just finished tracking the drums, we will share some footage of the recordings on our socials, so stay tuned for more. The recording process will take a while but we’re aiming to have a final version of the album by the end of the summer.”

Established on the verge of the millenium in Rome, the band has extended its partnership with Agonia Records in December 2025. The title and release date of the new album remain unannounced.

Setting up drums for the album recordings

From their early output to their signature recordings, HOUR OF PENANCE has maintained a distinct, powerful, and grimly enchanting sound profile. The band has consistently shaped their sonic identity through a complex, crushing, and surgical blizzard of technical death metal, characterized by hyper speeds and untamed brutality, while conveying perceptive social metaphors within dark imagery and lyrics.

With nine album under the belt, HOUR OF PENANCE is considered one of the most talented and intense representatives of the genre originating in Italy. It took the band three installments to break out of the local scene and make a splash on the international stage. In addition to Europe, their tours have taken them to the USA, Canada, Australia, and Asia, where they have played as support for bands such as Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder, Devildriver, Deicide, Nile, and Behemoth.

HOUR OF PENANCE released two albums on Agonia Records: “Devotion” (2024), an anthem to the futility of war with no light at the end of the tunnel, and “Misotheism” (2019), a pitch-black and brutally intense death metal soundtrack to a collapsing universe. The group is fast approaching a new chapter in their journey, featuring guitarist and longest-serving member Giulio Moschini, vocalist and guitarist Paolo Pieri, bassist Marco Mastrobuono, and drummer Giacomo Torti.

More news on the band’s tenth album will be revealed soon.

Tour dates: August 20-22, 2026: Deathfeast Open Air @ Andernach, GER

FERALIA Premiere New Album “Ultima Requies” Ahead of Release

Black Metal Promotion is now hosting the exclusive premiere of “Ultima Requies”, the new album from Italian-Swedish black metal entity FERALIA, set for release on June 26, 2026 via ATMF.

The band’s third full-length further expands their distinctive interpretation of the genre, combining raw riffs with a profound sense of introspection. Built around themes of death, memory and ancient symbolism, the album moves between violent eruptions and more immersive, solemn passages, creating a deeply evocative journey through darkness and transcendence. “Ultima Requies” stands as a powerful and uncompromising statement, where intensity and spirituality coexist in a singular vision.

Stream the album at THIS LOCATION.

With this third full-length, FERALIA delve deeper into their singular vision of Black Metal, forging a work that resists easy categorization. “Ultima Requies” is neither rooted in old school orthodoxy nor aligned with the polished tendencies of contemporary production. Instead, it stands as a raw and evocative offering, where abrasive textures and ritualistic atmospheres converge into something austere, immersive and profoundly spiritual.

The sound remains anchored in a sense of the sacred, drawing from arcane and occult dimensions tied to the archaic Roman world. Each composition unfolds as a passage, evoking forgotten rites, liminal states and the tension between life and death, presence and absence.

The artwork of “Ultima Requies” reflects this vision, depicting a reinterpretation of the necromantic ritual of Erichto, the Thessalian witch described in “De Bello Civili” by Lucan. A figure feared even by the gods, Erichto was said to raise fallen soldiers from the battlefield during one of the most turbulent phases of Roman civil war. This imagery embodies the album’s core: a confrontation with death not as an end, but as a threshold to forbidden knowledge.

Following the path opened by “Helios Manifesto” and “Under Stige / Over Dianam”, FERALIA further refine their language, balancing raw intensity with a deeply contemplative undercurrent. The result is an album that feels both immediate and timeless, grounded in the physicality of Black Metal yet reaching toward something intangible and eternal.

German death metal horde ENDSEEKER are pleased to unleash a special cover and accompanying video of their rendition of David Hasselhoff’s “True Survivor,” featuring Lord Of The Lost. The track appears on the band’s fiery farewell EP, Coffin Born, released on June 19th via Metal Blade Records.

“In the first place, we just love this song,” the band elaborates. “It’s from the movie Kung Fury which absolutely everyone must watch, because it’s a fucking masterpiece and this song is probably the best performance of Hasselhoff ever. We asked our friends in Lord Of The Lost if they would like to join us for this song because we felt like it needed some extra glitter. We think it turned out amazing! Two bands from Hamburg from different genres united in an unexpected cover song. Super-fun project and quite outside the box for a death metal band.“

“We’ve accomplished more than we have ever imagined in our wildest dreams,” reflects the band on their final release. “We played with fantastic bands, played super-cool festivals, and released four albums and two EPs of which we are extremely proud. We were blessed with great and loyal fans and managed to stay a consistent lineup throughout our whole career. But after grinding for more than a decade and dedicating so much time and energy to this band, we feel like it’s time to move on to other projects. We wanted to end this band like we started – as very good friends. We started with an EP and we end it with an EP. It just feels right to do this now, while we still have the power to deliver a great farewell performance as well in the studio as on stage.“

Since their 2015 debut EP Corrosive Revelation, each release has hoisted the Hamburg quintet further up the death metal mountain, with Mount Carcass (2021) and Global Worming (2023) receiving widespread acclaim.

Produced by the band with drums engineered by Eike Freese (Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, Helloween), Coffin Born stands as ENDSEEKER‘s swan song, shaped by the intense bond of a lineup that remained together throughout their whole career.

Burning with Luciferian hunger and baptized in nuclear horror, HOC EST BELLUM rose from the ashes in 2022. Based between Helsinki and Turku, the power trio unleashes a savage blend of grinding and bestial black/death chaos, channeling a sound that is both primitive and devastatingly direct. Their music thrives on raw aggression and ritualistic intensity, forged in an atmosphere of apocalyptic dread, satanic hostility and visions of mankind’s imminent extinction.

The band’s first release, the aptly titled “Demo 2023”, introduced this extermination squad to the underground with a display of feral brutality and uncompromising violence. The recording quickly established HOC EST BELLUM as a force devoted to the most extreme and unrelenting expressions of black/death metal, delivering warlike hymns steeped in filth, blasphemy and destructive fervor.

The band’s debut full-length will be released by Time To Kill Records in 2026. The album continues on the path of the bestial onslaught paved on the aforementioned demo, while adding to the relentless attack elements of dark atmospheric passages seeping with malevolent and poisonous aura.

Antichrist elitists rise. This is black metal terror.

Once upon a time, nestled in a corner of the bustling city, there existed a magnificent amusement park named Marylane, which was operated by Marymaker the Clown. He was perceived by the public as both terrifying and captivating, and there were rumors that he possessed the ability to attract both light and darkness simultaneously, as if he were a master of duality. During the park’s prime, one could hear the excited cheers of visitors from afar and the sound of carousels roaring under the summer sun. However, as the years went by, fewer and fewer people found the time to visit the amusement park, leaving Marymaker with a deep sense of abandonment.

The very thing that he had once been so passionate about now seemed to wither away and rely solely on artificial respiration. Filled with desperation, Marymaker embarked on a journey to find himself, only to encounter chaos and despair at every turn. One evening, while lost in his own thoughts, Marymaker overheard a group of people gathering on the Tivoli stage to compose music. There was one particular melody that caught his attention, as it exuded both sadness and hope. Intrigued, he felt compelled to venture out and discover the source of this captivating music. Could it be that the songs were about him?

Marylane is a swedish rockband formed in 2023 and draws inspiration from vintage sounds infusing them with a modern intimate touch. With their music they delve into the depths of the human experience exploring the paradoxial and existential questions that haunt our minds. Their sound is a harmonious blend of captivating melodies, groovy rythms, ephic choruses and introspective lyrics.

ANTIROPE Drop 9 Minutes of Kaleidoscopic Chaos in New ‘Aurora’ Music Video

Munich alternative metal band Antirope has officially unveiled their mesmerizing new music video for the nine-minute epic track “Aurora”, directed by the band’s own guitarist Patrick Fleischer. Pushing past the traditional boundaries of heavy music visuals, Fleischer steers the band away from linear storytelling in favor of an abstract, kaleidoscopic landscape that mirrors the immense emotional weight of the song. The video serves as a brilliant companion piece to the track, capturing a rare blend of discomfort and striking elegance that aligns perfectly with the sonic DNA of the German quartet. This is the fourth music video taken from their full-length album Bring Me to Zero which was recently released on May 1, 2026 via Eclipse Records.

The track is a standout centerpiece from their sophisticated full-length album, Bring Me To Zero, released via Eclipse Records. Recorded live at Lungfull Studios to preserve raw energy, the album positions Antirope alongside contemporaries like Soundgarden, Tool, and Neurosis while establishing an entirely unique sonic territory. Ultimately, the video for Aurora is not merely a promotional tool, but a courageous artistic statement that proves heavy music can be profoundly intimate, deeply unsettling, and breathtakingly beautiful all at once.

Bring Me To Zero marks a significant evolution for the Munich-based band. Overall, the album sounds massive without sacrificing intimacy, letting every riff, breath, and impact land with deliberate weight. Antirope’s sound remains rooted in the primal heaviness of Black Sabbath, the brooding grit of Soundgarden, and the hypnotic sprawl of Neurosis, yet the band never settles for homage. Instead, they carve a distinctly modern identity where dense, down-tuned riffs collide with psychedelic textures, and moments of crushing volume dissolve into eerie calm. Vocalist Slaven Stokic moves effortlessly between raw urgency and haunted restraint, guiding the listener through an album that feels less like a collection of songs and more like a psychological descent. Produced by guitarist Partick Fleischer (Lacrimas Profundere, Darkseed, Alev) at Lungfull Studios, the upcoming album promises a heavier, more hook-driven sound characterized by bold vocal arrangements and an explosive rhythmic backbone. The album contains eleven tracks, including standouts like “Zero,” “Intervention,” “Afterglow,” and a cover of the Cream classic “Sunshine of Your Love.” Bring Me to Zero balances brutality with beauty, never letting one exist without the other. The album artwork, created by the band themselves, mirrors that duality: stark, personal, and uncompromising. Released on May 1, 2026 via Eclipse Records, Bring Me to Zero positions Antirope as a band unafraid to confront collapse head-on while emerging with something strangely luminous in its wake.

Listen to Bring Me to Zero on all platforms via Eclipse Records at this location.
