UK vocalist and guitarist Toby Jepson, has premiered a lyric video for new single ‘I Won’t Be With You’, ahead of the re-issue of his debut album “Toby and the Whole Truth – Ignorance Is Bliss” (25th anniversary remastered).
The song is a reflection of Toby‘s mindset during a turbulent period after the split of his former band Little Angels following 1993’s number one album ‘Jam’ and a final sold out show at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in 1994.
Since announcing the release of the special edition of ‘Ignorance Is Bliss’, Toby has launched a new podcast. Taking its title from the debut solo record, the ‘Toby and The Whole Truth’ podcast series seeks to uncover the reality of what it means to live and work as a successful person in the real entertainment business. Launched as lockdown took place in March, Toby has released introspective interviews with Ricky Warwick (Black Star Riders/Thin Lizzy/The Almighty) and Saxon frontman, Biff Byford. Each episode reflects on successes, failures, mental health battles, dreams verses reality, relationship struggles, excess, boredom and the mediocrity of a world hidden from view are all tackled in this compelling series. Toby‘s next guest will be his fellow Planet Rock DJ Wyatt Wendels.
“Toby and the Whole Truth – Ignorance Is Bliss” (25th Anniversary remastered) is out 17th July 2020.
Following their highly acclaimed debut album “Welcome”, Swedish heavy doom rock collective DUN RINGILL (feat.members of The Order Of Israfel, Doomdogs and more) have just announced the release of their sophomore album titled “Library of Death” on July 31st 2020 via Argonauta Records.
Dun Ringill‘s new album will dig deeper into the soil of Nordic folk music and at the same time, it is even darker, rawer and heavier than their debut. Recorded with mastermind Joona Hassinen at Studio Underjord and Grand Recording Studio during the winter of 2019, with “Library of Death” the band creates a haunting vibe of the evil wilderness and the dark woods lurking around the corner.
The album was arranged in a basement in the grey parts of Gothenburg while the lyrics were written on the high and mighty mountains of Norway. This special combination gives this album its unique aura of a beautiful darkness and malevolent feelings, that will follow you into your dreams…
Check out the new video ‘NBK’:
The artwork for “Library of Death” has been created by Henrik Jacobson/Art of Henk and is inspired by the lyrics from the album. Dun Ringill‘s forthcoming record will also feature songs with guest musicians such as opera singer Glenn Kjellberg, Per Wiberg from Kamchatka and formerly Opeth and Candlemass, Matti Norlin from the band Lugnet and Philip Lindgren, ex Hypnos.
Background:
When The Order of Israfel took a one year break from September 2017, the rhythm section Patrik Andersson Winberg (Bass) and drummer Hans Lilja (also in Lotus) grabbed the chance to create new music again together with Patrik‘s old band mate from the Doomdogs era, Tomas Eriksson (Intoxicate and ex Grotesque). To make this exciting project of Dun Ringill as great as possible, the band teamed up with Gothenburg fellow musicians, guitarists Tommy Stegemann (Silverhorse), Jens Florén (also in Lommi & ex- live guitarist for Dark Tranquillity) and Patric Grammann (SFT, Neon Leon). After the band released their critically acclaimed debut, “Welcome”, in March 2019 – followed by several gigs and tours with acts alike Church Of Misery, Year Of The Goat and Elder to name just a few, their new studio album “Library of Death” will be seeing the light of day on July 31st on Argonauta Records. With a pre-sale and more tracks to be unleashed in the weeks ahead, the band is currently also preparing for a heavy live schedule to hopefully follow more than soon.

Following the continuing government recommendations on mass gatherings and social distancing this summer, BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR FESTIVAL has issued the following statement:
“Dear Bloodstockers,
Following the ongoing government guidance on mass gatherings and social distancing, we are extremely disappointed to announce that this year’s BLOODSTOCK will no longer be going ahead. We respect the government’s mandate and recognise it is made with the best intentions, in order to protect the health & safety of not only our audience, but our staff, crew, musicians, and other contractors who work on site at BLOODSTOCK. Safety remains of paramount importance to us.
We know you have been concerned about what the developing Covid-19 situation would mean for BLOODSTOCK and will be as disappointed as we are at this tough decision, but we hope you can appreciate it is the right choice to make at this time. We had been working tirelessly to ensure we could still offer the top quality BLOODSTOCK experience you trust us to provide, year on year – and this year more than ever, when we invited you to celebrate 20 Years of BLOODSTOCK with us. We do not – and never will – take this trust in us for granted.
We have been reading your comments on our social media, and many of you have said that in this circumstance, you would like the option to roll your 2020 ticket over to 2021’s event – and we can confirm that you are able do that. Rest assured that BLOODSTOCK will return with an almighty vengeance, better and stronger than ever, so to that end and to help assuage your disappointment, next year BLOODSTOCK will be adding an extra day!
The festival will be 5 days and start from Wednesday, as opposed to Thursday; the dates for 2021’s event will be 11th – 15th August. This will be at no extra cost to those who have already purchased weekend tickets for 2020 and wish to roll them over. We will also freeze prices at the ticket store until later this year, when prices will then increase by just £10 and a new, longer 6-month instalment plan will launch to make that option even easier to manage. The on-sale date for day tickets and any returns on previously sold out ticket categories, such as camper vans, will be announced in due course. We are happy to report that many artists on this year’s line-up have already reconfirmed for 2021 and we look forward to sharing further plans with you soon. Meanwhile, you can watch an updated trailer for the festival here and a special message from metal overlord Rob Halford, from headliner Judas Priest, (below).
Should you prefer a refund, we also wish to state that full, face value refunds will be available to everyone who has already purchased a BLOODSTOCK 2020 ticket from official sellers and assure you of our best efforts to process those refunds within 28 days, where possible. We have a lot to sort out, so please bear with us – everyone who has purchased a ticket already from Seetickets will be emailed in the next 7-14 days.
We are also updating our website and have launched a new page to answer your questions about refunds & the roll-over process here.
While we understand the current financial climate is difficult for many, we sincerely hope you will decide to join us to celebrate BLOODSTOCK next year. As an independent, family run festival, we wish to extend our deepest appreciation for your continued and loyal support.
We know we are privileged to have such a strong BLOODSTOCK community, and as a united family of heavy metal fans, we WILL prevail.
Vicky, Adam, Rachael, Paul, and all at Team BLOODSTOCK.”
Swedish rockers BLACK INK RIVER are preparing to release their new single ‘No No No’, which will be the first to be released from their forthcoming second album. The track is due out, along with a video on 30th April, which will be premiered by Swedish online music magazine Rockbladet. The album is due for release via GMR Music later this year.
Daniel Wahlström, the band’s vocalist states: “We have really matured as a band this time around and we wrote the songs together in our rehearsal place where we can jam the songs and put all the bits and pieces together. NO NO NO feels like a good song to release as a first single, it represents our sound. It’s a solid rock song with the right grooves at the right places. The song is about breaking up with destructive people and relations.”
BLACK INK RIVER says it’s difficult to categorize themselves but that they play some kind of vintage heavy riffing rock music. You can also hear some hard rock and blues vibes here and there.
Background:
Black Ink River was formed 2016 by Daniel Wahlström, Roger Johannessen and Bosse Karlsson and was first intended as a studio project. Writing and recording rock songs for a potential album.
When all the songs for the album were written, Anders Modd joined and the project now became a band that could jam and play live shows.
The album got recorded and was titled “Headstrong”. Black Ink River signed with GMR Music Group (Stagman,Frantic Amber, Mefisto etc) to release the record and it eventually came out in October 2018. To push the record the band did some club shows and festivals in Sweden.
