Toronto, ON based metal outfit EXES FOR EYES along with the support of Canadian metal bands Endast, Great Sabatini, Last Scattering, Odium, Planet Eater, Sparky, Out of The Ruins, Ninjaspy, KYOKTYS, Mad Trapper, BornBroken and Of Reverie are teaming up to help raise cancer treatment funds for a long time metal fan whom has been battling AML (Acute Myelogenous Leukemia). All the bands have come together by selling all their albums for $1 here.
Plus Exes For Eyes have posted the following video message, that we ask you to please share:
Pictured above is Exes For Eyes vocalist Big Metal James with friend and long time music scene supporter, Josh Todder Tetley. Big James comments:
“This picture was taken at Heavy Montreal, right after one of the most important performances/moments of Exes For Eyes’ career. Josh was there showing us love and support, and now it’s our turn to show HIM love and support through some difficult times.
Back in March, Josh was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myelogenous Leukemia). After several treatments, chemo, and a stem cell transplant, Josh and his family were informed in December that the Leukemia had returned. The doctors are doing what ever they can to help Josh, but some of the treatments are not covered by OHIP…one of the treatments will cost almost 7000 dollars.
We’ve banded together with some close friends in the scene to help raise money for these medical expenses. Several bands (including Exes For Eyes, Endast, The Great Sabatini, Last Scattering, Planet Eater, Out Of The Ruins, Sparky, Ninja Spy etc.) will all be selling their album for $1.00 here at ExesForEyes.com with all proceeds going towards Josh’s treatment for the duration of his GOFUNDME campaign. Keep checking back, as more music will added in the coming days. On top of purchasing music, if you wish to make additional contributions directly to Josh’s campaign, please click HERE.”

EXES FOR EYES is a project born of an overwhelming amount of mutual respect and admiration between two men. A respect for one another’s work ethic, musical proficiency, stylistic taste and of course, for each other as people.
The concept of blindness, be it willing, involuntary, inherent or otherwise is so foreign and far removed from anything within the realm of experience for these men. However as the process has begun to create this music, it has become apparent how limited one’s own vision can be when staring at the broad side of limitless potential and ambition.
With the musical vision of Dave Sheldon (ex Man With Target, Annihilator) and the lyrical conception of vocalist and frontman Big James (Endast, Authors) the project is very quickly taking shape into something more than either anticipated. The hope is to see the world of metal in a new light, with EXES FOR EYES.

“Phenotype” is a song-based, 60-minute long album. TEXTURES present an eclectic overview of what modern metal offers. Catchy, innovative and progressive songs. New musical virtuosos Uri Dijk (synth) and Joe Tal (guitar) deliver a new, harmonic vibe to their already maturesound.

Earlier this week, video footage surfaced of Phil Anselmo shouting “white power” after making the Nazi salute gesture. He issued a statement shortly after saying it was just a joke, but he was not apologizing. Yesterday, (Friday 29th January) Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn posted a video statement calling out Anselmo for his racist actions and alleging there was no white wine backstage and that he came up to Flynn that night and told Flynn that he hated the “n**ger era of Machine Head.” Other bands, like All Shall Perish have similarly lambasted Anselmo, reports metalinjection.net.
Anselmo just posted a video statement issuing a full apology. You can read his words below:
“Philip H Anselmo here, and I’m here to basically respond to all the heat I’ve been getting, that I deserve completely. I was at the Dimebash and it was extremely late at night. There was heavy duty talk between myself and those who love Dime. Heavy emotions were flowing. Jokes were made backstage that transpired upon the stage and it was ugly, it was uncalled for and anyone who knows me and my true nature knows that I don’t believe any of that. I don’t want to be part of any group. I’m an individual and I am 1000% apologetic to anyone to took offense to what I said, because you should’ve taken offense to what I said, and I am so sorry. And I hope you just…man…give me another chance…to…just give me another chance. Just give me another chance. I love all of you. And anyone who’s met me knows, I love of all of you. Bless you.”
SKINDRED frontman Benji Webbe has his face slashed in a knife attack in his hometown of Newport, Wales, according to teamrock.com.
The singer posted a picture of his injuries on his Facebook page, along with the caption: “Went to Iffy’s party and ended getting slashed in the face and throat on the way home.”
The photo – posted this morning – shows a large number of stitches and Webbe‘s face is also marked with other injuries from the assault.
Webbe underwent surgery last year for an unspecified illness.
Skindred released latest album “Volume” last October via Napalm Records and they are lined up to play at this year’s Download festival.
They’re also scheduled to perform at Studio Coast in Koto, Japan, on Valentine’s day.
