When Hardcore Punk Metal band IRON REAGAN and Strangeways Brewing got to collaborating, two core ideas were immediately at war: wanting to brew a favorite style, the Belgian Tripel, while at the same time desiring to make a dark-as-night ale to pay homage to metal music. Peace was partially restored when we realized we could brew a Belgian Black Tripel. Jelly beans were added to enhance the insanity while at the same time keeping with the essence of the band’s name. Finally, months of aging in oak barrels bring it all back to earth. The result is “JUST SAY GO BELGIAN BLACK TRIPEL” (8.4% ABV~17 IBU)
“It has fucking jellybeans in it!” – Tony Foresta

Indian Modern Thrash Metal outfit SHRAP has signed a deal with Power Back Productions (USA). The band plays a blend of Thrash Metal and Groove Metal, producing a unique sound. Influenced majorly by giants such as Sepultura, Soulfly etc., the band is known very well for it’s tight live performances.
From winning hundreds of competitions, to headlining a number of shows across India and South Asia, the band had two self releases so far, War-Hate (2014), We Shall Arise (2015) and now with a new record label in place, the band is looking at turning things around.
Front man, Saptak Dey says, “It feels great to be a part of an international record label such as Power Back Productions. Bands are signed from all over the world and it feels surreal to be signed by them at this time after having two releases so far.” He adds, “We tried hard, but as you know, it’s very difficult to get a record label for independent musicians like us. After back to back refusals, we almost lost hope. Now, it feels amazing to be on the roster. We felt Power Back Productions has given a good platform for all artists signed, to be known very well internationally and some of the bands have had the privilege of touring Europe and many other places. We look to turn things around now. Hoping for good things to happen in the coming days!”
Recently the band released a music video “No Hope No Mercy”, watch it below:
Jimmy Kay and Alan Dixon from Canada’s The Metal Voice recently spoke to Geoff Tate (Ex Queensryche) who’s current musical project called Operation Mindcrime will be releasing a concept album called “The Key” on September 18, 2015 on Frontiers, the first of three album installments.
Tate spoke about, the concept behind “The Key”, as well as the recording highs and lows of Queensryche‘s critically acclaimed albums “The Warning” and “Operation Mindcrime” and the closing of the infamous Le Studio Morin Heights where “Operation Mindcrime” was inspired and recorded.
When asked about Operation Mindcrime’s new concept album The Key
“When you write a concept record it definitely gives you the opportunity to do some different things that you normal wouldn’t do with a record of standalone songs because you are telling a story. So stories aren’t static they are very dynamic, there is lots of different moods you can explore within any given story. I like variance and variety. I go into it with single purpose of writing an entertaining story that is interesting and the challenge of matching music to that story so the listeners are transported on a musical route.”
When asked about being learning experiences in the early days in Queensryche from other bands such as Twisted Sister and Ronnie James Dio
“I wasn’t really aware of Twisted Sister at the time, so it was kind of an eye opening experience sharing the stage with these very tall New York guys who wore really elaborate makeup and hair, costumes and it was kind of an eye opening experience. They had a really cool presentation and I learned a lot from them as far as stage craft and just the way they handled themselves.”
“And some people that you meet on the way are very open to sharing their philosophy and there mindset their way of doing things, Ronnie Dio for example is a guy that was very helpful in the beginning stages of the Queensryche career, giving us advice helping us out he was a very giving person.”
When asked the bands mindset during the recording of Queensrcyhe first Full length album The Warning
“It was a real disappointment to everybody in the band at the time, cause of course it was taken out of our hands and mixed by somebody who didn’t care about it and and didn’t want the input of the band and it was quite a shocking experience.”
When asked what Geoff Tate spoken word was in the middle of the song Roads to Madness off the Warning Album
“It’s kind of strange I wrote what I was saying on a scrap of paper in the studio and then walked away from the microphone and never picked up the paper again, so it’s lost.”
On how the city Montreal, Canada inspired the story and characters of Operation Mindcrime
“Montreal Canada is a wonderful city very inspirational a lot of the Mindcrime story was written in Montreal. The story line came from my time I spent in Montreal. I used to go to this little club on St-Denis called Le Saint-Sulpice. At the time it was a dark dingy little place, the clientele was a mix of all these different kinds of people and that’s where I met some of the people that became characters in my story. And that’s where I used to spend all my time. Dr X character came from a guy that I met at Le Saint-Sulpice. Sister Mary was a composite of couple of different characters I met one was in Montreal the other was in Amsterdam.”
When asked if the whole album The Key will be played during the tour
“I plan on playing the entire album and then probably book ending the new album with songs from my past.”

Orange County, California quartet SPEAKING THE KING’S will release their debut full-length “Carousel” via Nuclear Blast on October 16th.
The album is frontloaded with moshy breakdowns, which are tempered by soaring melodic choruses that will camp out in your brain for weeks at a time.
“Carousel” was recorded with the mighty Steve Evetts at the helm. The producer lists SUICIDE SILENCE, ARCHITECTS, and EVERY TIME I DIE among his credits.
The band said, “We are ready to win the world over with »Carousel«, which is a journey through catchy choruses to the heaviest of breakdowns. This album offers a diversity and range of emotions, which are reflective of each member and the ride we have been on to this day. We are so eager to let the world into our hearts and for you to let us into your ears.“
The band’s humble origins can be traced back to 2011, when it began as a project between former bandmate Justin Bock, fellow guitarist Mike Entin, and drummer Will Peacock.
Their demos captured the attention of A DAY TO REMEMBER producer, songwriter, and former guitarist Tom Denney (PIERCE THE VEIL, SECRETS), who ushered the band into his Florida-based studio to record their first arsenal of music.
The band booked studio time but was missing a critical element – a singer!
The fevered search for a frontman ended with Bobby Burap, who was the total package, thanks to his stage presence and his ability to sing in both clean and aggressive registers. Plus, the singer’s welding talents were a bonus, since touring bands never know when they’ll suffer from a broken axle in the middle of nowhere and in 100-degree heat. Just sayin’.
Since their inception, SPEAKING THE KING’S have shared stages with bands of their ilk, such as WE CAME AS ROMANS, OF MICE & MEN, WINDS OF PLAGUE, BLEEDING THROUGH and BLESSTHEFALL.
SPEAKING THE KING’S are carving out their status as a band to watch in 2015 and beyond.
“Carousel” track listing:
01. Breathe
02. Choke
03. Caught In The Middle
04. Liar Liar
05. Motion Sickness
06. Shipwrecked
07. Worthless
08. City Lights

Jimmy Kay from Canada’s The Metal Voice caught up with VENOM INC‘s Mantas, Abaddon and The Demolition Man at Heavy Montreal Festival in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The band spoke about the recent incident of the body of a young unidentified man wearing a VENOM T-shirt, the reasons behind kick starting VENOM INC and Cronos’ objections to their reformation.
When asked about the bands reaction to the the unidentified body of a man found with a Venom T-shirt, 20 years ago in Turtle Creek, Wisconsin and the investigators using the metal community to try to find his identity
” I think it’s because of the size of the metal community and that the people are very knowledgeable that something will be found out very quickly and it’s because metal heads care about each other and the investigators will find out who he is.”Abaddon
When asked about the reasons for reforming Venom inc the line-up with Mantas, Abaddon and the Demolition Man
“The Venom inc thing came around because of the ‘Keep it true festival’ in Germany, M-pire of Evil was booked for the festival and they said would you consider playing Venom songs if Abaddon came. ” Mantas
When asked about Cronos’ opinion on this current reformation or any legalities to stop Venom Inc
“Yes a letter was sent, but legally Cronos did not ask me and the name of the band originally was put togther by the two of us (Mantas) cause I would have said no ” said Abaddon
“At the end of the day it’s venom Inc, Iron and Steel, the fans know who he is , the fans know who we are. In this band you have the two founding members. Every band who’s got a front man that is iconic, looks at the band (Venom) as that’s the band, not true. Cronos was the last person to join Venom at my invitation. A lot of the Venom songs were written before Cronos joined the band this is what people don’t realize.
In 2005, my mother was seriously ill, my mind was not on music, wasn’t on a band name or anything like that and Cronos called me during this conversation he said are you ok with me continuing with venom, I said yeah, is it a decision I regret, yes. looking back at it now , if my head been right, I would have said I think we should have just bury it now”Mantas
When asked about what stages they are at on coming out with a new Venom inc album
We got the M-pire album that we are finishing off, we have already done some demos (Venom Inc) for the new album. Now we are trying to write and do the tours at the same time.”The Demolition Man
