DJ BLACKDIAMOND of British radio station, FIREBRAND ROCK RADIO, conducted an interview with legendary Metalhead and DJ and ambassador KRUSHER, during HARD ROCK HELL 2011.
You can listen to this interview on BLACKDIAMOND’S METAL MAYHEM show tomorrow 9pm (GMT) at FIREBRAND ROCK RADIO‘s website.
Vocalist SEBASTAIN BACH’s 21-year-old guitarist Nick Sterling is featured in a new interview with Geeks Of Doom. An excerpt is available below:
Q: Were you a fan of Sebastian before he got in touch with you?
Nick Sterling: “Yeah I was a fan of his…the first two SKID ROW records are great. They’re standards for that style and that energy and sure, I grew up listening to them. I grew up listening to a lot of different stuff but, yeah, I was a fan at the time when he called me.”
Q: When I heard (new album) Kicking and Screaming it seemed to me like the dynamic between you and Sebastian was almost like the OZZY OSBOURNE and RANDY RHOADS situation where the lead singer has this renewed fire in his belly with a new young guitarist. Did you feel that kind of connection at your first rehearsal?
Nick Sterling: “Well it’s a lot of pressure to compare something to that! I guess the spirit’s there, but I don’t really want to draw any direct comparisons to, say, me or Randy or Ozzy and Sebastian or anything like that. But that’s a pretty valid statement to say because there’s certainly a new energy to the band. There’s a new energy to Sebastian personally as far as him being fired up about playing music, about writing new stuff, about releasing the new record. I can’t say that that’s all to do because of me joining or anything like that but, you know, it’s been a very productive very positive portion of both of our lives as far as what’s going on with our music we’re working on. You know, those sorts of comparisons freak me out a little bit but I could agree that maybe it’s the same, sort of; it’s more of an energy and a renewed passion for what’s going on in the music rather than an actual improvement on the music or anything like that.”

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY guitarist ZAKK WYLDE is featured in a new interview with Ultimate-Guitar.com. An excerpt is available below:
UG: What has the JUDAS PRIEST tour been like?
Wylde: “It’s awesome, man. I mean they’re all super cool dudes to begin with aside from being an amazing band and legendary and all that stuff. I mean they’re just super cool people. I met the guys back on the Ozzfest when they first hit the Ozzfest years ago and I became friends with the guys then.”
UG: You got to know the band during that 2004 Ozzfest?
Wylde: “I remember I got Glenn an old SG from Gibson and I got a red-and-white pickguard V for KK back then. You know like the two guitars they had on the back of British Steel so I just got those as presents for the guys to say, “Thanks for the guitar lessons over the years and the inspiration” and all that shit. We all went to dinner last night and I’ve known Scott [Travis, drummer] for years and Richie [Faulkner] now playing guitar for ‘em; Rich is like slammin’ it and killin’ it every night.”
UG: Richie Faulkner is a really good guitar player.
Wylde: “Yeah, he’s like slammin’, dude. I mean killer technique and chops up the ass. He’s great and he fits in great with the guys. I mean it’s whatever happens between bands and K.K. and why isn’t Bill Wyman still in the ROLLING STONES? You know what I mean? To me and you on the outside lookin’ in you just go, ‘How hard could it be to be in a band?’ Like me with Ozzy? We never got into an argument—we were too busy laughin’ our balls off.”
As previously reported, Wylde will be the inaugural honoree at the first ever Rock & Roll Roast hosted by Guitar World magazine. This charity event will take place at The Grove in Anaheim, CA on Thursday, January 19th, 2012, with a portion of all proceeds going to the MusiCares charity.
Roastmaster Sharon Osbourne and other metallers such as, OZZY OSBOURNE, FOZZY’s Chris Jericho, ANTHRAX’s Scott Ian, Stone Cold Steve Austin, SLIPKNOT’s Corey Taylor, as well as comedy and roast veterans Jim Norton, Brian Posehn, Jim Florentine and more will all take aim at the Black Label Society frontman and guitar icon.
Also, fresh from her recent stint on the JUDAS PRIEST tour, Lady Starlight (LADY GAGA’s resident DJ) will also be on hand to serve as the evening’s official DJ.
Wylde commented on the roast: “How can they roast me? I’m a good Catholic boy…”
Sharon Osbourne explained: “Zakk has always called me his Mom, but I think my boy needs a good kicking.”
Editorial Director of Guitar World, Brad Tolinski added: “We’re excited to kick-off this new annual event, and who better than Zakk Wylde, to be our first… victim.”
