Slipknot are marking their 25th anniversary in style – with a tour that takes fans back to the band’s beginnings. Tonight, the tour makes its first stop in Germany, in Dortmund. However, the opening concert at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome has already proven that the band has exceeded fans’ expectations.
Back to the Beginning: Slipknot’s Debut Album in Focus
The setlist for the 25th Anniversary Tour is a tribute to their self-titled debut album from 1999, a record many fans consider a cornerstone of Nu-Metal. Corey Taylor and the rest of the band have included some rare gems, such as the hidden track “Eeyore” and the epic “Scissors”, which, at over eight minutes, was one of the night’s highlights.
Fans of the raw energy from Slipknot’s early years will be thrilled with this selection – many of these tracks haven’t been performed live in years.

A Night of Nostalgia and Energy
This tour promises unforgettable evenings – not just for longtime fans but also for those who’ve never had the chance to experience Slipknot live. Combining nostalgic tracks with the band’s unparalleled live energy, this anniversary tour is shaping up to be a true highlight.
THE HALO EFFECT have unveiled the stunning video for the third single from the highly anticipated albumMarch Of The Unheard, set for release on January 10, 2025, via Nuclear Blast.
The new single is an anthemic masterpiece, driven by soaring melodic guitars and THE HALO EFFECT’s unmistakable signature sound. Capturing the very essence of Gothenburg’s melodic death metal legacy, the track delivers a powerful blend of haunting melodies and crushing intensity, cementing the band’s place as modern torchbearers of the genre.
The accompanying video takes fans on an immersive journey through the streets of their hometown, Gothenburg. With sweeping visuals and a raw, heartfelt connection to their roots, the video is both a tribute to the city that shaped them and a striking visual complement to the single’s energy and emotion.
Guitar wizard and main songwriter Niclas Engelin comments: “‘Cruel Perception’ is packed with guitar harmonies and melodies that sprung from my noodling on the acoustic guitar in the living room one late night with a coffee in hand, which turned out to be a true Melodic Death Metal anthem. It’s funny how some songs turn out in the end from late night acoustic guitar noodling to full on Melodic Death Metal, but that’s the beauty with Halo, you never know how it’s going to sound in the end with everybody’s magic in the studio. We hope you will enjoy this song as much as we do and we just can’t wait to play this song live for you all! “
Shortly after the album´s release, the band will embark on their first ever headline tour across Europe. Industrial outfit and label mates PAIN will be special guest on this tour and to round up this great package, melo-death shooting stars from Finland, BLOODRED HOURGLASS, will join as support.

After a long break, Dimmu Borgir are finally back in the studio! The Norwegian symphonic black metal legends are hard at work on their first studio album since ‘Eonian’ (2018). However, they haven’t been idle in the meantime: with the live album‘Northern Forces Over Wacken’ and the 30th-anniversary album ‘Inspiratio Profanus’, they’ve released some impressive work.
The upcoming album will also mark a significant change: It will be the first studio album since Spiritual Black Dimensions (1999) without guitarist Galder. Earlier this year, Galder left the band to focus on his solo project Old Man’s Child.
Guitarist and vocalist Silenoz shared some insights into the band’s creative process during an interview with Rauta earlier this year:
“We’ve been working on new material. We’ve been at it for quite some time, with interruptions here and there. During the pandemic, we took a bit of a break and worked on the songs individually, as lone wolves, so to speak. Then we got together and started brewing a new concoction.”
Silenoz emphasized that the band places great importance on quality and takes their time to meet fans’ expectations:
“I think fans are saying, ‘Oh, you need to release a new album’ and blah blah blah. But the thing is, we’d rather take our time, even take an extra year, to make sure it’s better than just good, if you know what I mean. We want to release an album when it’s truly ready.”
He ended on a positive note, expressing his hopes for the future:
“We hope to be more active and to share more new music with our fans – both long-time followers and new ones. But yeah, good things take time. And I think it’s safe to say the longer people wait, the better the result will be.”
Fans can look forward to what Dimmu Borgir will deliver this time, both musically and conceptually. One thing is certain: it will be dark, epic, and unmistakably Dimmu Borgir!
Legendary American progressive metallers SAVATAGE are thrilled to announce their first headline shows since 2002.

We get to play a series of headline shows for the first time in over twenty years that will put us right back in front of all of the unbelievable fans who have given us so many unforgettable memories over the last three decades. Here’s our chance to directly give back to everyone who’s been there supporting us all these years!”

Unfortunately, due to health issues, I will not be able to join the guys for this run. Hopefully, this is just temporary. I will continue working in the studio on new music for the future. These shows will be awesome and I will be working with them to get it all ready for you. I know everyone is going to love it!!! Me and the guys are very excited and ready to kick ass! So from me, thank you all for the support for all these years and we can’t wait to rock you!”
Watch the announcement trailer to get in the mood:
Savatage has cultivated a passionate cult following with over twenty years of musical excellence, eleven groundbreaking albums, and hundreds of performances around the globe. Their unique blend of thrash, progressive, power metal, and classic hard rock has left an indelible mark on the music world. Founded in Tampa, Florida, by brothers Jon and Criss Oliva, Savatage’s journey has been a mix of triumph and tragedy. Albums like the seminal 1987 release Hall of the Mountain King and the critically acclaimed 1991 rock opera Streets continue to resonate with fans today. The untimely death of Criss Oliva after the success of 1993’s Edge of Thorns marked a turning point for the band, but they rebounded with a newfound identity, culminating in their 1995 album Dead Winter Dead. Their electrifying reunion performance at the 2015 Wacken Open Air in Germany, where they captivated an audience of 80,000, reaffirmed Savatage’s enduring legacy and their powerful connection with fans.
