Fast-rising Italian death-grind outfit SLUG GORE have officially joined forces with Time To Kill Records. The band will release their debut album, “They Slime! They Ooze! They Kill!”, in the next few months.
SLUG GORE is a death-grind band based in Ravenna, Italy. The band’s sound is the perfect fusion of European grindcore influences, American hardcore and touches of death metal and slam.
The concept behind their imagery follows themes such as Kaiju (from Godzilla to Ultraman), B-Movies (to which they have dedicated songs like “Underground Giant Death Machine” and “The Deadly Spawn”), monster movies, gore and horror.
The project was born at the end of 2022 with the intention of creating something new and rule-free. Elements from various scenes and musical tastes have found a common ground in a dynamic and uncompromising death-grind.
In their first year, the band quickly built a big fanbase, playing over 30 shows in Italy, sharing the stage with major names such as Meshuggah, Carcass, Soulfly, Brujeria, Cripple Bastards, Possessed, Mortuary Drape, Gatecreeper, Asphyx, and many others when performing at various important Italian festivals such as Dissonance, Luppolo In Rock, Frantic, Venezia Hardcore and Built To Blast Festival. They also completed an Italian mini tour with Party Cannon.
After receiving great feedback with the release of an EP in February 2023 (“Extraterrestrial Gastropod Mollusc”), and a single in May (“Mucus Chainsaw”), SLUG GORE are now ready to release their first full-length album.
American death metal purveyors SKELETAL REMAINS are now unleashing yet another brutal new single, “To Conquer the Devout,” along with another mind-bending music video! The track is taken from the band’s upcoming full-length, ‘Fragments of the Ageless,’ which is due via Century Media Records on March 8, 2024! The video, which was directed by Dillon Vaughn, can be found at THIS LOCATION.
The band comments: “It is a speed driven groove fest perfectly capturing the aggression of an archaic deity ridding the world of all who follow the incoherent word of their false religion through blasphemy inspired by the power of ignorance and blind faith which continues to poison the minds of millions throughout this fucked up planet.”
In addition, SKELETAL REMAINS will be embarking on a run of album release shows throughout the U.S. West Coast this March! The trek will kick off on March 7 in Santa Rosa, CA and will conclude on March 10 in Las Vegas, NV. The full itinerary can be found below while tickets are available HERE.
Pre-orders and additional album details for ‘Fragments of the Ageless’ are live HERE

The artwork for ‘Fragments of the Ageless’ was created by Dan Seagrave.
Skeletal Remains’s ultra-brutal new album, Fragments of the Ageless, is upon us! The Americans—featuring Mike De La O (guitars), Chris Monroy (guitars/vocals), Pierce Williams (drums), and newcomer Brian Rush (bass)—kept busy after their much-hailed The Entombment of Chaos landed into a chaotic world in 2020. Rather than sit idle, the re-energized quartet crafted their penultimate statement. Tracks like “Void of Despair,” which Monroy describes as “aggressive and spastic,” “To Conquer the Devout,” “Relentless Appetite,” and “Verminous Embodiment” are death metal manifested in sound fundamentals, killer musicianship, and the right attitude. While Skeletal Remains have had four full-lengths since forming in 2011, Fragments of the Ageless is the band in their highest grotesque gear yet.
“With every record, we try to push ourselves to make a better record,” Monroy says. “We don’t get into, ‘We need to sound more like this or that.’ What comes out of us is natural. Actually, that’s how it’s been since the first record [Beyond the Flesh]. As death metal fans, we write what we enjoy and want to listen to. Having Pierce and Brian join the band played a big part in the new album. They live in Portland, and the rest of the band is in Los Angeles, so there’s a bit of a gap, but we use technology a lot when we write. They gave us a fresh set of ears.”
The principal songwriting for Fragments of the Ageless started during the pandemic but picked up considerable steam once the band were back on the road in 2022, where they played countless shows and festivals in the U.S., Europe, South America, Central America, and Australia. With Pierce and Brian fully in the fold, Monroy and De La O found themselves, in a way, back to square one, namely the “entire band effort” that comprised their 2012 debut, Beyond the Flesh. The savage DNA of Skeletal Remains is intact, but it’s been altered—no, improved!—iteratively to attack more, devour absolutely, and technically inspire. Tracks like video singles “Void of Despair,” “To Conquer the Devout,” “Relentless Appetite,” as well as deeper album cuts “Forever in Sufferance,” “Verminous Embodiment,” and “Unmerciful” are ravenous.
“It’s more brutal than the last one,” says Monroy. “We were pushing ourselves to be more extreme—vibing on that as much as possible. Obviously, we’re not tech-death now, but I think we took inspiration from the techier side of things. We took things up a notch and dialed in on the technicality and ever-increasing intensity while maintaining catchiness. We still have songs like ‘Eternal Hatred’ [from The Entombment of Chaos]. There’s always room for super-simple mid-paced songs in Skeletal Remains. On one end, we’ve increased in density and brutality; on the other, we wrote a few songs with longer and more ‘epic’ structures. ‘Fragments’ is simply the next evolutionary step in our sound.”
Lyrically, Skeletal Remains took the left-hand path. Rather than topics and themes inspiring the cover art, Dan Seagrave’s (Suffocation, Entombed, et al.) famously atramentous detail conversely informed the lyrics and album title. Monroy says they had working titles that they conveyed to Seagrave, but the final painting sparked the title, Fragments of the Ageless. Of course, the usual influx of sci-fi, historical, personal struggles, and fantastical also played a part.
“Seagrave completed the cover art before we had a title,” Monroy says. “That was kind of weird, but it worked in our favor. The cover art directly inspired a few of the lyrics and musical themes, tying multiple pieces together, which is a first for us. We did show him different pieces of art—10 in all, I think—that we liked, so there was direction. We wanted a mixture of things, with the final idea being a creature being taken apart and its DNA extracted. Seagrave’s crazy brain made it all come to life.”
Skeletal Remains recorded Fragments of the Ageless at various home and professional studios. Most of the guitars, bass, and solos were tracked DIY. The band wanted the drums to sound as imposing as possible, so they booked Trench Studios (Intronaut, Hirax) with John Haddad, while the vocals were cut at Birdcage Studios with Allen Falcon (Pestilent Death). Once the album’s core had been recorded, Monroy and the team sent their sick slab to Swedish studio ace Dan Swanö (Asphyx, Incantation) for mixing and mastering. If the blistering leads of “Void of Despair” and “Verminous Embodiment” don’t impress, then check out the blasting drums of “Cybernetic Harvest” and “Relentless Appetite.”
“Dan really gets it,” says Monroy. “He’ll send us mixes, and he’ll automatically add stuff like effects and little details throughout the back and forth. He knows what we want before we can tell him. Dan understands what we’re going for. There’s mutual understanding and respect. Of course, he’s been mixing and mastering for a long time and has made a name for himself, but we’re really happy with the production on ‘Fragments.’ It jumps out at you.”
Monroy says the band’s goal with Fragments of the Ageless is to continue death metal’s lineage—to honor the past and present. The future, however, is lined with more touring and festivals. Having just come off a stateside run with Suffocation and Incantation late last year, Skeletal Remains are poised to ravage more of the world, with high-profile slots at Wacken (Germany) and Alcatraz (Belgium) festivals already secured.
Death… Is just the beginning with Skeletal Remains’s Fragments of the Ageless.
Line-up: Chris Monroy – guitars/vocals Mike De La O – guitars Pierce Williams – drums Brian Rush – bass
February 23, 2024 will see German modern metal act DUST BOLT unleash their new studio album, Sound & Fury, one that refines and noisily redefines the band’s sound for a new era! The album pre-sale is available via AFM Records at https://dust-bolt.bfan.link/sound-fury
Following a series of previously-released singles, today, DUST BOLT are sharing their album opener “Leave Nothing Behind”! Frontman Lenny B. comments:
“Leave Nothing Behind is the opening track of our new album and is quite powerful! The song is possibly one of my absolute favorite DUST BOLT songs. It combines the energy and brutality of our previous works with the melody and catchiness of the new songs and well, what can I say… it’s the mix that counts!
Leave Nothing Behind was also the first song we gave to Moritz Enders (mixing & mastering engineer / Berlin) and got back finished. By then I knew: He was the right man for Sound & Fury! Now we can’t wait to present the song live!”
Since their formation in 2007, DUST BOLT have been resolute and ruthless in their pursuit of metal glory over the last 16 years. Childhood friends with a collective passion for metal in all its various forms, the quartet have established themselves as one of Europe’s leading thrash metal bands.
Written during those isolated months of pandemic lockdown, Sound & Fury represents the peak of the band’s creativity, and a major leap forward in every department. The first DUST BOLT record to feature new bassist Tom Liebing, alongside Lenny Bruce, guitarist Florian Dehn and drummer Nico Remann, Sound & Fury grew from a long period of self-reflection that began when the world shut down.
“Sound and Fury was created during the probably darkest and most difficult time for the band.” DUST BOLT revealed. “First time in our lives, since we were kids, we were somehow separated from another and the dream we lived together seemed to stopped. It was during the pandemic days, when the band even decided to take a break from one another, when Flo came up with this beautiful piece of music – not knowing how he would channel and express our feelings, leading to LB putting some Dust Bolt unusual, but heartfelt vocals on it and having Nico introducing a disco beat to a metal song in the end. We didn’t know what was happening – we just did it. We did know, there’d be a million voices saying we can’t put this up on a Dust Bolt record. But more than that we knew „as long as we stick together, we can do anything the *** we want“ . Sound and Fury is a story about friendship, struggle & inner turmoil. SuF is a story about us. SuF is a different, open and honest Dust Bolt, sharing their emotion with you and your friends.”
Although still rooted in thrash and old school metal, the new record adds dazzling colour and diversity to the band’s trademark sound. With pummelling grooves, spine-tingling dynamics and a startling, part-melodic vocal performance from Lenny Bruce who also produced and recorded the album, with an analogue mix by Moritz Enders [Revolverheld, Silbermond], the new songs mark the beginning of a new era of DUST BOLT destruction.
Simultaneously catchier than any previous record and grittier and heavier than before, Sound & Fury is the sound of a great band realising their full potential. Or as DUST BOLT states:
“This album marks the beginning of a new era for DUST BOLT. For Metal in & from Germany. This is just the beginning!”

KEYGEN CHURCH will release its stunning Nel Nome Del Codice full-length on March 22nd via Metal Blade Records.
KEYGEN CHURCH is the brainchild of technologist/songwriter Victor Love (Vittorio D’Amore). Love, also of 8-bit phenoms Master Boot Record (MBR), is a one-person outfit, writing, and recording via undisclosed real-time stream events, where the dedicated (and lucky) bear witness to KEYGEN CHURCH‘s spontaneous creative process. Like previous alt code/text art-titled albums (2022) and (2022), Nel Nome Del Codice is a modern-primitive love letter to doom/gothic/black metal with foundations in Baroque-era Classical and Romantic-era music. This time, however, Love has refined his sonic tool kit – “the complete set of sounds,” he says – the aftereffect of which is computerized big-hall libations like “La Chiave Del Mio Amor,” “Nel Nome Del Codice,” and “Lode Al Disco Sacro.”
Love got his start in music through technology. He was a tech at his father’s computer business, where hands-on experience with hardware and software cultivated a jump to sysadmin at university. From there, the Italian fell into digital marketing and trendsetting. When the KEYGEN CHURCH architect was exposed to pirated software, the intro – called “cracktros” – music was pivotal to the “key generator” culture. The scene (aka “demoscene“) that evolved out of that caught his metal-attuned ears and gadget-oriented mind. Master Boot Record and KEYGEN CHURCH are the products and expressions of a bygone bootlegging era thrust into the present through different genre lenses. Suppose the former is inspired by death metal. In that case, the latter is symphonic black metal, and Nel Nome Del Codice is not unlike Arcturus‘ La Masquerade Infernale or Elend‘s The Umbersun if envisioned by Japanese 8-bit composer Koichi Sugiyama (Dragon Quest).
Love’s work in KEYGEN CHURCH is homage and innovation. He’s a fan of ciphers – astute fans will have to figure out where they’re used on Nel Nome Del Codice. The logo is ASCII art, a “graphic language” created by bulletin board system (BBS) users in the early days of the Internet. While the cover may appear minimalist initially, the 1-bit pixel art by Germany-based illustrator Valenberg (Perturbator, VirtuaVerse) signals KEYGEN CHURCH‘s ascent to their final form. If the metamorphosis is complete, Love’s journey to Nel Nome Del Codice has been inspiring. The refined craftwork of “Lode Al Disco Sacro,” “Sulla Via Della Gloria,” the nearly eight-minute closer, “Sempre Nel Mio Pensiero,” beholds darksome liturgical majesty, the likes of which we’re hearing/experiencing for the first time at our respective pews.
“My plans for KEYGEN CHURCH are long-term,” says Love. “I am taking more pipe organ and piano lessons to bring this to the stage with my other bandmates in MBR. I’ll need to do it right or not do it all, though. That means I’ll have to figure out how to bring a pipe organ and piano live – or build a custom instrument. I want our first show to be in a church, and I’ve already got some ideas about how to make that happen. After, I’ll probably drop a new album, the follow-up to Nel Nome Del Codice.”
In advance of the record’s release, today KEYGEN CHURCH unveils, “La Chiave Del Mio Amor,” with Love noting of the moving hymn, “It’s a Baroque classical computer-generated fugue of pipe organs and piano with thundering drums, razor shaped synth metal riffs and artificial choirs.”
Stream KEYGEN CHURCH‘s “La Chiave Del Mio Amor” at THIS LOCATION.
Nel Nome Del Codice Track Listing: 01. Se Hai Timore Del Vero 02. La Chiave Del Mio Amor 03. Sulla Via Della Gloria 04. Nel Nome Del Codice 05. Lode Al Disco Sacro 06. Il Paradiso Dell’Anima 07. La Voce Del Destino 08. Che Sia Vita O Morte 09. Sempre Nel Mio Pensiero
n April 2024, the world will be a bit less shitty, as KICKIN VALENTINA will release their fourth full-length album titled “Star Spangled Fist Fight”. Ten bullets of loud, unapologetic rock’n’roll are fired aiming the hearts and jugulars of all hard rock fans with a sleaze rock fallout. And, with an almost cynical precision, the four guys in Kickin Valentina, knock each and every one of us with catchy choruses, indecently strong riffs and a sexy rhythm groove that’s almost pornographic.
Once again, the album was produced by Andy Reilly (UFO, Bruce Dickinson, Cradle of Filth) at Muse Productions in Atlanta, and mastered by Joel Wanasek. “It’s been way too long since our last album, and we are really excited about “Star Spangled Fist Fight.””, bassist Chris Taylor states. “I know every band says this, but I think this is our best album so far. Everything just seemed to click while we were writing it”.
Kickin Valentina still plays the proverbial loud unapologetic rock’n’roll in 2024, as the band enters the second decade of its existence. Except that “Star Spangled Fist Fight” is a bit louder and a bit more unapologetic.
“Star Spangled Fist Fight” will be released on LP (black vinyl, limited to 500 copies), digipack CD and digital formats via Mighty Music on April 19th, 2024. Pre-orders are available here.
The first single off the album, titled “Takin A Ride”, will be released on Friday this week. It can be pre-saved here.
“Star Spangled Fist Fight” tracklist: 1. Gettin Off 2. Dirty Rhythm 3. Fire Back 4. Man On A Mission 5. Turn Me Lose 6. Died Laughing 7. Takin A Ride 8. Amsterdam 9. Ride Or Die 10. Star Spangled Fist Fight
Formed in 2013, the Americans quickly gained attention in the U.S. and abroad. They were immediately picked up by Atlanta-based indie label Highway 9 Records and released their debut self-titled EP in October 2013. In August 2015 Kickin Valentina signed with Danish hard rock/metal label Mighty Music, and has released since then three successful full-length albums – “Super Atomic,” “Imaginary Creatures,” “Revenge of Rock” – and an EP titled “Chaos in Copenhagen” to rave reviews around the world.
Their album “Imaginary Creatures” debuted on 5 different Billboard charts (Heatseeker Albums #16, Heatseekers South Atlantic #5, Independent Albums #30, Hard Rock Album Sales #11, and Rock Album Sales #42), and the single “Crazy” reached #15 on the Danish iTunes rock charts. “Revenge of Rock” debuted at #6 on the Danish vinyl chart, and “Chaos in Copenhagen” debuted at #27 on Denmark’s top 100 album sales chart.
