Alternative metal band NIAMH has recently announced the release of their new album entitled “Autumn Noir” on 25 March, 2022 via Electric Talon Records. Today NIAMH are pleased to unveil the new single and video for “Solitude Chronicles”.
The band on “Solitude Chronicles”: “The video delivers all the coldness and detachment of the song, but at the same time we felt as if we were laid bare to our most intimate feelings”.
Since their formation, NIAMH released two albums, “Corax” (2017) and “SuperSonic” (2019), and played in support to bands such as Soulfly, Enter Shikari, Lacuna Coil, Placebo, Arch Enemy and many others. The band features members of historic Italian acts including punk legends Indigesti and modern metal band Arcardia.
Southern rock icons GOV’T MULE will be releasing their incredible live set of Rollings Stones songs, ‘Stoned Side of the Mule’ on CD and digitally for the first time as well as on transparent blue and transparent red 2LP vinyl. It will be released on 27 May via Provogue / Mascot Label Group.
The album captures an iconic night at The Tower Theater, Pennsylvania, on 31 October 2009. It followed the tradition of the bands special Halloween night performances. This was the third in the series of shows, paying homage to Messrs Jagger, Richards, Watts, Wyman, Wood and Jones of with a set of over two hours of solely The Rolling Stones covers. Previously, they had played Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd celebrations.
The album was initially released by Provogue in 2014 on a limited vinyl LP to celebrate the bands 20th anniversary and quickly sold out. But it has now been repressed and available in multiple formats.
On the album, they lovingly and gloriously travel through the Stones catalogue. The quartet’s deep chemistry and steely confidence allow them to tackle any form of music and stamp it their own while remaining true to the spirit and intent of the original. This can be heard any time guitarist-singer Warren Haynes, drummer Matt Abts, bassist Jorgen Carlsson and multi-instrumentalist Danny Louis take the stage, but a series of new live archival releases really drives the point home.
The show featured a long and varied set of impassioned, expertly executed covers as only the Mule can deliver, with special guests Jackie Greene (Phil Lesh & Friends, Black Crowes, Trigger Hippy) and saxophonist Steve Elson (Stevie Ray Vaughan, Radiohead, David Bowie).
They run through hits such as “Under My Thumb,” “Angie,” “Paint it Black,” and “Wild Horses”, as well as songs such as Bitch,” “Slave,” “Shattered,” “Ventilator Blues”, and more.
The rock torchbearers have an always epic and fearless live performance ethic which means no two Gov’t Mule shows are alike, as the band draws on the more than 300 songs in their repertoire (and often a host of special guests) to create a unique experience each and every time.

Hop on board with Celtic Punk pirates PADDY AND THE RATS and sail into their upcoming album From Wasteland To Wonderland, out April 29, 2022 via Napalm Records! With their mix of pub tunes and punk rock accompanied by Celtic accents, PADDY AND THE RATS welcome the listener into a blustery world of pirates and sailors abound with their new offering. From Wasteland To Wonderland builds upon the energetic mood of its predecessor, Riot City Outlaws, resulting in a mighty seaworthy successor!
Before taking to the high seas though, the pirate gang puts their first boot forward by showcasing their most vulnerable side while telling of one of the most difficult periods in their band history. The band’s new single, “After The Rain”, is a heartfelt dedication to accordion player Bernie Bellamy (Bernát Babicsek), who sadly passed away at the start of 2022 – just months before the upcoming release of From Wasteland To Wonderland, which they had worked hard on and looked forward to releasing together. The ballad celebrates Bellamy with a longing melody accented by violin elements, ensuring that he will sail forever in our hearts.
Today, PADDY AND THE RATS have released a lyric video featuring precious memories of Bernie, which will be followed by an official video to be released next week on March 9, 2022.
PADDY AND THE RATS on “After The Rain”: “This album became very important to us because this is the last thing that Bernie recorded in his life. We’d like to dedicate the first single of the album to Bernie and to express all our emotions through the song we release first. That’s why we’ve chosen ‘After The Rain’. It’s a sad song but it also has a fully positive vibe. Sadness and desperation are there through the whole song, but meanwhile, you can feel something powerful when the pipe and the accordion come in at the drop. It conveys the feeling that you have to be strong and you have to move on. The last line in the chorus says: ‘After the rain, sunshine will never be the same’. I think this is the essence of the song. The absence of Bernie will be more endurable with time, but nothing will ever be the same without him.”
With their six full-length, PADDY AND THE RATS serve a top-notch pirate party fueled by a heavy dose of Punk, Polka and Folk, turning the world into a giant pub! This Irish influenced sound will assuredly bring up the urge to slam down a cold one while swinging happily along arm in arm to the beat! Formed in 2008 by singer and songwriter Paddy, the untamed unit have built a respective name within the scene due to hard work and extensive touring all over Europe – with more than 400 shows including at the world famous Wacken Open Air and the Sziget Festival. For the new album, they teamed up once again with producer Zoli Baker. The artwork was designed by Jill Colbert, who has also worked with bands like Alestorm, Exodus and Wintersun.
On a rousing 13 tracks, the Hungarians magically pull one stirring song after another out of their pirate hats, featuring a great variation of instruments like accordion, fiddle, banjo and bagpipe. The Celtic punks sail off on exciting adventures with their opener “Wasteland”, offering a longing duo of mandolin and vocals accompanied by violin injections. The spirit is incited with “Ship Will Sale”: The rousing track hits like a wild wave and invites the listener to join the party, swaying and stomping with them. The full-length pushes forward with “Party like a Pirate”, where they delight their shipmates with an eager party hit featuring a sweeping sing-along chorus. “Everybody Get Up” offers another power boost and slowly prepares for the end of the adventure, with its punkier, energetic sound. The last stop of the journey with the Celtic Punks is “Wonderland”. This emotional ballad provides the perfect note on which to end the album. With From Wasteland to Wonderland, PADDY AND THE RATS deliver a seaworthy adventure that fills the listener with addictive energy and simple happiness.

THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON, consisting of members of Feuerschwanz, Amaranthe and Ad Infinitum, have released the second single and music video since their formation – their version of Enya’s The Lord Of The Rings – The Two Towers theme, “May It Be”. The original song is the soundtrack to one of the darkest storylines of the whole saga, spreading hope when there seems to be none left.
THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON is accompanied by Charlotte Wessels on the song and video. The haunting duet passages of Melissa Bonny and the exceptional Dutch singer let the song shine in a completely new way. Energetic drumming and a great guitar solo add new highlights to the song that, already with the second song of their career, showcases the versatility and talent of this newly founded band.
THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON on “May It Be”: “Today we are proud to present our second song! On our musical quest through the mystic worlds of fantasy movies and games, we take you on a journey through Middle Earth, to the Undying Lands!! In honor of Tolkien’s unmatched epic tale, the 20 year anniversary of the movies and the upcoming series, we present you our version of “May It Be” – a version that you never would have expected – that’s a promise! And on top of that, we are beyond proud to have a very special guest in this song, the amazing Charlotte Wessels, who is riding with us to take this song to the next level!”
With “May It Be” and the first single, “Jenny Of Oldstones”, THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON aim to transform musical themes from cinematography, TV shows and video games into powerful and epic modern metal tracks and add completely new elements via the trademark guitar playing of Hans Platz and versatile voice of Melissa Bonny, as well as the use of the harp. In doing so, THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON will not limit themselves to cover versions, but will also write original songs.
THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON started with a bet between Melissa Bonny and Hans Platz. Whoever lost owed the other a “dare”. Hans won and challenged Melissa to record a metal version of “Jenny Of Oldstones” with him, and so the band began to turn their favorite cinematic themes into powerful metal songs!
Violinist, composer, ethnomusicologist TUOMAS ROUNAKARI is forced to postpone the release of “Bear Awakener“, due to the ongoing pandemic and its effects. But to shorten the wait, he has revealed the first album teaser, some feelings from his studio days with Verde in January 2022.
Tuomas stated: “Disappointed to announce that our release of the Bear Awakener album will be postponed. Not sure exactly for how many weeks, but hopefully it will be shipped everywhere during April. The reason is the obvious one – Covid-19 and its many effects from long queues in printing to unpredictable shipping times. It has hit our team members directly too, but all are well and in good shape by now. The digital version including the digital booklet is already final. Releasing that before the physical copies simply feels wrong given the nature of this album. I hope to make up this delay with a few more videos around the topic during March. And for starters! Verde did this little teaser from our studio session for you! We were too busy to actually film anything properly, but this does transfer some of our feelings. Hear the sound of the violin with raw-gut-strings on two different songs!”
Enjoy the album teaser below.
“This is music that gods are listening to” said Pekko Käppi after having listened through the freshly finished mastered tracks.
“Bear Awakener” was recorded, mixed and mastered at the Verde Studio with the gear-wizard Mika Rintala. None of his modular synthesizers were used. All of the equipment used in recording was built by Mika – microphones, pre-amps, EQ and even the mixing console and electrostatic monitors. Bear Awakener has 11 tracks and 43min in total.
New release date will be announced soon.
Previously, Tuomas unveiled three Episodes for “Bear Awakener” and its backgrounds and meanings.
What is “Bear Awakener”? The name Bear Awakener comes from specific songs sung in order to awaken the bear. This album dives deep into the bear myths and is designed to re-awaken or cherish anyones connection with this mythical entity.
The myth of a bear’s origin is identical among the Finns and the indigenous Khanty and Mansi people. Both cultures run ceremonial Bear feasts that last several days. Many songs, dances and plays are performed in honor of the bear. Tuomas Rounakari has studied the bear feast songs of all of these cultures. There are thousands of verses containing bear related myths in the vast archives of Finland and the tradition is now returning among the Khanty and Mansi.
TUOMAS ROUNAKARI is an internationally acclaimed violinist, composer and ethnomusicologist from Finland. He is a one-man-band blending violin, vocals and stomping with ankle-bells. In his performance he enters various trance-states. In this album he will also be playing a traditional Khanty instrument called Ning-juh.
Tuomas is inspired by different forms of dialogue; man and nature, the seen and the unseen world, ancient and future. His first solo album Shamanviolin was a result of ethnomusicological studies of the earliest 20th century wax-cylinder recordings from Siberia. These studies have also led to many collaborations with indigenous artists. He is one of the few artists who have actually returned their art to native communities for evaluation and development.
Enjoy online concert from Kaustinen Folk Music Festival 2020. Shamanviolin at Pauanne is a full-length online concert produced by the Kaustinen Folk Music Festival 2020. The concert was filmed at the magical Pauanne where a community of folk musicians and folk healers used to live in the 1980’s. All buildings are fully hand made with many mythological decorations. This Shamanviolin concert ends with lament melodies in a burnt down sauna. The magic and unique beauty of this place is still strong. A perfect environment for my music.
