Sun After Dark, a new band led by Benjamin König (ex-Lunar Aurora), will release their debut album Tatkraft on 13th June via Hammerheart Records. The second single ‘Burning Blue’ is now streaming on all digital platforms. Album pre-orders are available here: https://sunaftedark.lnk.to/tatkraft
Benjamin comments: “‘Burning Blue’ is an almost catchy and straightforward song. The plot revolves around the ancient dream of flying: in this case, flying through the night, over ruins and through dark dungeons. Lots of clichéd themes, but atmospherically packaged and made to float and immerse yourself. Enchanted with dust from old times, like a fairy tale, almost forgotten, yet burned into our childhood. I think we all know these nightflight dreams. The basic form of the song is many years old, but has been reworked for this album. Now was the right time and place for this song.”
Hailing from Bavaria, Germany, Sun After Dark is best described as progressive dark metal with elements of black and atmospheric metal. However, it is regarded as something fresh, new, and unheard of.
The band features experienced musicians who have made their mark in groups such as Empyrium and Dark Fortress. Adding to the excitement, the production quality is phenomenal. Tatkraft (German for “drive/energy”) was recorded by Victor Bullok (of Tryptikon) at Woodshed Studios (known for Tryptikon and Dark Fortress).
For fans of: Rammstein, Celtic Frost, The Vision Bleak, Empyrium
Sun After Dark is the project of Benjamin König from Germany, best known as a founding member of the black metal band Lunar Aurora (1994–2012). As the band’s primary composer, he was responsible for nine albums and various compilations. Now, with Sun After Dark, König will release his debut album, Tatkraft — a German word meaning drive, energy, or moxie.
The music on Tatkraft blends modern elements with black metal, dark atmospheres, heavy guitars, and intense, evocative moods, with a hint of mythology woven in. Life is made up of stories, experiences, and defining moments — mastering it often requires Tatkraft. This album explores those experiences, shaped and expressed with that same spirit. The lyrics are in English, German, and Bavarian dialect, a nod to König’s roots in Upper Bavaria.
Tatkraft was produced by Victor Bullok (Triptykon) at Woodshed Studio in autumn 2024. Following this collaboration, Thomas Helm and Benjamin König have decided to continue Sun After Dark as a duo. However, the project remains a studio endeavour, with no plans for live performances — each member is active in other well-known bands where they can be seen on stage.

Swedish dark metal act SIGNERI has unleashed another intense taste of the band’s upcoming, self-titled debut album, scheduled to be released on June 13th via ViciSolum Productions. Following the release of the first single“Darkness Embrace”, SIGNERI follow up today with the gloomy and relentless track “Setting Fire to Worthless”.
“This song is about how faith, in the wrong hands, becomes a trap. How wounded souls are drawn into the arms of religious sects promising light, only to find themselves swallowed by control and silence“, says the band. “The verses are stripped-down and cold – a quiet nod to the dark pulse of Velvet Underground. As the song unfolds, it grows heavier, more atmospheric, with a chorus that doesn’t plead – it demands to be heard. It follows Darkness Embrace, but where that song looked inward, this one stare straight into the eyes of those who exploit brokenness in the name of salvation.“

New Orleans heavy rock powerhouse DRAB presents the lyric video for “Lonely Place”, a visceral preview of their highly anticipated self-titled debut album, Drab, set for worldwide release on June 6, 2025.
Sin etched on skin. Guilt like quicksand. “Lonely Place” pulls listeners into a harrowing descent where heavy riffs, dark atmospheres, and raw existential dread collide. It’s a soundscape where post-grunge melancholia smashes into apocalyptic doom, crafting a world of crushing fate and poetic despair.
The lyric video, produced by Volume Agency, visually amplifies the song’s themes of isolation and reckoning, inviting listeners to confront their shadows.
DRAB doesn’t just resurrect the past — they mutate it. Their sound is a molten collision of eras: the swagger and rawness of 1970s hard rock, the rebellious spirit of 1980s metal, and the brooding intensity of 1990s grunge. Tracks like the incendiary “Afterburner” (available now on Bandcamp) showcase their ability to fuse haunting atmospherics with bone-crushing grooves, creating music that’s as visceral as it is unforgettable.
Ukrainian Folk Black Metal band WAIDELOTTE present their new song ‘Crimson Waves‘, a sweeping and affecting digital standalone single.
Listen via Bandcamp, on DMP‘s YouTube channel and all streaming platforms.
On ‘Crimson Waves‘ the core of vocalist Andrii (FLOSCULE, ex-WHITE WARD), bassist/main composer Zlat (ex-SOEN), guitarists Bohdan/Mykhailo and drummer Igor (ex-SECTORIAL) use multifarious vocal styles – by turns anthemic, emotive and vicious – powerfully interwoven riffing and an epically dynamic arrangement to juxtapose the agonies of war with recollections of bygone beauty.
The band states:
“This song reflects the Russian annexation of Crimea and the looting of historical artifacts, many of which have been illegally removed from the peninsula. The single’s cover art alludes to this narrative quite literally!“
Alongside the new single, WAIDELOTTE also present a special t-shirt design (man’s/woman’s) featuring the cover artwork. Orders for the t-shirt are possible via DMP’s EU and Bandcamp shops, and the single can be obtained from Bandcamp.
WAIDELOTTE is a new Extreme Metal act from Ukraine which skillfully combines Black Metal, melodic Death Metal and Progressive Metal with traditional Folk singing and instrumentation. The project gathers individuals with diverse musical backgrounds, including members of SOEN, WHITE WARD, NAONI ORCHESTRA, Тінь Сонця, SOLAR KOLLAPSE, and CASA URAINA amongst others.

“‘Break These Chains’ is about a toxic relationship,” says singer Lauri Ylönen, who digs his teeth into such lethal lyrics as “You made me believe/That true passion makes you bleed/So I stayed too long/To play your twisted games.” Lauri wrote the song with revered hit songwriters/producers Marti Frederiksen and Desmond Child. “It’s about letting go of something that you know is bad for you, but you’re obsessed with.”
For “Break These Chains,” THE RASMUS called on Niko Vilhelm (of the Finnish Nu Metal band Blind Channel) to make a special guest vocal appearance. “The Rasmus are heroes of mine, so obviously I was excited when Lauri called me and asked me to be a part of this song. Even more so when I heard the track. The heavier sound suits them soooo well. I’m so hyped about where they’re headed and what’s to come.”
Most of the songs on WEIRDO were written by Lauri Ylönen, Desmond Child (who contributed to the band’s BLACK ROSES and RISE albums and has worked with Bon Jovi, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, among countless others) and Marti Fredriksen (Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Veil Brides) in Folegandros, Greece. That’s where Lauri and Desmond met up to work on material that Lauri brought. THE RASMUS then did full band demos of all the tracks in Finland in July 2023, with production led by Frederiksen and Child.
Later, they finalized the songs and recorded the album with the whole band in Marti Fredriksen’s Sienna Studios in Nashville. Some of the tracks were mixed by Fredriksen in Nashville, assisted by Evan Fredriksen, while other mixes were done by Chris Baseford (Nickelback, Shinedown, Daughtry) in Vancouver, Canada and by Claudius Mittendorfer (Panic! At The Disco, We Are Scientists) in London, and Joseph McQueen (Bad Wolves, As I Lay Dying, From Ashes To New) in Los Angeles. Additional production by McQueen injects a fresh intensity into tracks like “Creatures of Chaos” and “Break These Chains,” while Ylönen himself takes the helm on “Rest in Pieces” alongside Alex Mattson.
The album’s second single “Creatures of Chaos” arrived March 28, with the video racking up over 521k views. It followed the album’s first single “Rest In Pieces,” released October 25, 2024, paired with a lyric video which now has amassed over 556k views.
“I find it comforting that our 11th album, WEIRDO, has pretty much the same message as on our first album released in 1996,” says Lauri. “It is to defend and praise the ones who are different from the masses and proudly being themselves as they are. It has been our philosophy from the very beginning.”
Ylönen explains the power behind being a “weirdo.” “In this society I’ve always felt that I’ve had to prove myself for being the way I am or doing the things I do. I’ve always felt like an outsider not fitting the norm. I’ve been called a weirdo, misfit and a freak. That used to make me angry—but not anymore. It’s become my source of strength and confidence. I’ve realized the power of it. All the people I find exciting and inspiring are somehow strange. We, the Weirdos, unite and feed off people’s judging attitudes. The fact is they’re just afraid of us. Afraid of our capability to create new and change the future. Are you a Weirdo? Join us…”
THE RASMUS will bring their unforgettable stage show to audiences worldwide in 2025 on the “Weirdo Tour.” They recently concluded a month-long U.S. trek with The Funeral Portrait, and are now in the midst of their own North American headlining tour, which kicked off May 3 in Atlanta, GA. Tickets are on sale now for its European leg (9/12 – 12/6); see the full dates listed below.
“It’s been a while since we went on tour, so we’re really excited to be heading out all over the world in 2025,” exclaims Lauri Ylönen. “It’s shaping up to be a massive tour and there’s more dates to come. We can’t wait to hang out with our fans. It’s going to be fun to see them again, we’re like family.”
Meanwhile, The Rasmus will play a charity concert in Ukraine on July 19 as the headliner of the Atlas Festival, as the only foreign artist at the event. The band wants to do their part to help Ukraine. Over 60,000 people are expected to be in attendance, and there will be a comprehensive security system and evacuation plan for the audience and performers in just a few minutes if necessary. Last year, the festival raised over two million euros for charity. The artists can choose to direct their charitable funds to any Ukraine-related cause, such as supporting children’s hospitals, purchasing ambulances, or helping combat medical personnel.
“It’s scary to play in the middle of war, but we want to show our support for the Ukrainian people,” says Lauri Ylönen. We have a massive fan base in Ukraine and we’ve also previously done a joint song with the Ukrainian Eurovision winner Kalush Orchestra.”
With its uncompromising vision and unapologetic message, WEIRDO is poised to be THE RASMUS’ most ambitious and impactful album yet. Here’s the album’s track list:
Creatures of Chaos
Break These Chains
Rest in Pieces
Dead Ringer
Weirdo

ABOUT THE RASMUS
With their new album WEIRDO, THE RASMUS once again proves why they remain a force to be reckoned with in the rock world. In their native Finland, where they are the reigning #1 rock band, THE RASMUS stands at #1 on Spotify, YouTube, Instagram and Deezer as far as followers, views, likes and streams. It is often said that the best bands are the ones which keep surprising you time and time again, in the most thrilling of ways. This is something that the 6x Platinum and 8x Gold-certified band have been doing since their major label debut and a creative responsibility they take great pride in. If you’ve listened to any of their albums, you’ll be able to hear a kaleidoscopic collage of heavy guitars against futuristic electronics, as well as pop hooks that can find their way into the heart of any kind of music fan. As a direct result, they’ve become one of Finland’s greatest musical exports, selling millions of records worldwide and winning award after award.
Blasting through the noise with defiance and melody, The Perps have returned and are set to release their latest single, ‘The Culture’, on May 23 via Golden Robot Records.
With blistering riffs, infectious hooks, and a rebellious spirit, The Perps push back against a world they never asked for. The track gives voice to a generation disillusioned with modern life, offering a gritty yet melodic anthem for those who feel they were born in the wrong era. From the first note, ‘The Culture’ grabs hold and doesn’t let go, delivering youthful energy, smart songwriting, and an irresistible sense of longing – for something more, something real. It’s a raw, exuberant cry for authenticity in an age of artificial everything.
The Perps continue to carve out a distinct place in the modern rock landscape, fusing classic sensibilities with fresh perspective and fearless honesty. ‘The Culture‘ is the latest testament to their mission: to speak up, stand out, and have a damn good time doing it – no matter what decade it feels like.
The Perps are: Seb Smith, Tom Burns, Arik Ross, Alex Visinoni.
