2025 will see Desertfest Berlin undoubtedly invite for its perhaps best and most eclectic line-up to date, featuring an incredible line-up consisting of DINOSAUR JR., THE HELLACOPTERS, ELDER, EYEHATEGOD, MY SLEEPING KARMA and many more high class acts the stoner, rock, doom,  sludge, psych and metal scene has to offer! Today, the festival has revealed its first line-up splits for Friday, Saturday and Sunday:

Just recently, Desertfest Berlin has shared new line-up confirmations, announcing DINOSAUR JR. as the third headliner at Desertfest Berlin 2025, as well as more new names such as the first waver of European stoner rock: DOZER! Finally back home: MY SLEEPING KARMA, US doom metal from PALLBEARER, Amsterdam’s psych-rock band TEMPLE FANG, COOGANS BLUFF bringing some Space´n´Bluesrock, doom jazz with STINKING LIZAVETA and trans-apocalyptic galaxy rock by DARSOMBRA.

The latest confirmed acts will be joining the outstanding line-up consisting of Swedens rock icons THE HELLACOPTERS, prog-and psych-rock overlords ELDER (playing their groundbreaking “Lore” album in its entirety!), New Orleans sludge legends EYEHATEGOD, Swedish stoner rockers LOWRIDER, blues rock favs THE DEVIL AND THE ALMIGHTY BLUES, Norwegian tundra rockers SLOMOSA or Berlins riot grrrls 24/7 DIVA HEAVEN to name just a few!

POISONED HESTIA Celebrate New “Further Dawn” EP Release with ‘South of Here’ Video

Poisoned Hestia is an independent alternative rock band from Germany, formed in 1991 under the moniker 13th Floor. Their musical style is influenced by late eighties sub-culture genres like gothic rock, heavy metal, post-punk, wave and industrial.

The band quickly achieved local underground fame with their intense live shows, presenting a mix of self-written material and cover songs. They regularly played sold-out club gigs and also regional festivals. Eventually, after a split and a short-lived reformation, in 1995 the band went on hiatus without ever having officially released any of their original material.

In 1995 band went on hiatus, but after almost 25 years they back in the original line-up and the band finally recorded and delivered their long-awaited debut album “Subtle Seduction” (2019). Then the band released the EP “Far Beyond” (2020) and several singles heralding the full album “All the Way Down” (2022). Just a few days ago, the German band presented to their fans with a dose of fresh music as EP “Further Down“.

New record was mixed and mastered by Timothé Baqué at Modern Nihilism Recordings (Humanity’s Last Breath, Grave Insanity) in Toulouse (France). EP “Further Down” was released on December 13, 2024 via Dawn Boulevard in digital form and is available for listening on all major streaming platforms.

Band members comments: “The new EP contains four tracks that are among the darkest and heaviest the band has ever released. We explore the dismal depths of the human soul and descend into the deepest corners of hell, where they unleash their vision of “Damnation Rock’n’Roll”. For 16 minutes there is little time to breathe as the band celebrates mixture of metal and hard rock, refined with some ingredients from gothic and industrial. Are you ready to party with the damned?“.

DREADMASK Release New Single & Video ‘Jester’s Grin’

Dreadmask invites you into a twisted realm with their new single, “Jester’s Grin”—a melodic death metal journey where hidden truths lie beyond the painted smile. Feel the tension between haunting riffs and raw, guttural intensity as this track digs deep into the pain and power of a performer’s facade.

This song dives deep into the mask we wear to hide our true emotions—a fake smile that conceals the pain beneath. Like a jester performing to please, we bury our struggles while playing the role others expect. The puppets in the song symbolize the false identities we craft to fit in, but the real battle is the internal conflict between those masks and who we truly are. It’s a haunting reminder of the cost of pretending, and the toll it takes on our authentic selves.

In early 2023, a spark ignited the flames of Dreadmask, a melodic death metal band based in Eindhoven, with members originating from Greece, Hungary, and The Netherlands. Fuelled by their shared passion for meaningful heavy music, Dreadmask wasted no time in making their mark on the scene. After each member had taken a break from previous bands, John Kourentas, Elger van Delft and Antonis Mougiakakos initiated the band’s first incarnation. The group was settled when Zoltán Herczog came aboard in the summer of 2023. Dreadmask, derived from the fusion of ‘dread’ and ‘mask,’ embodies the essence of fear and concealment.

While ‘dread’ signifies the haunting grip of anxiety, ‘mask’ alludes to the veils we arise to shield our vulnerabilities. On the journey of playing the game of societal norms, we encounter our ‘Prime Dread’—our deepest fears.

Each member of Dreadmask brings their unique musical influences to the forefront, encompassing Swedish death metal riffs, growling vocals, soaring melodies, progressive metal nuances, and black metal-inspired melancholy.

BOSPARANS FALL Release “Live at Aaargh Festival 2024” CD + Live Video ‘Alrik Immerda’

Southern German RPG melodic death metallers BOSPARANS FALL, who caused a stir last year with their debut album “Götterspiel: Dunkle Zeiten”, have recorded their show at this year’s Aaargh Festival.

The result is the live album “Live at Aaargh Festival 2024”, which was released yesterday, December 20th on all download and streaming platforms, as well as on CD from the band and MDD.

To mark the release, a live video clip of the song “Alrik Immerda” from the album is now available on YouTube. Check it out!

From the cracks of concrete hell, Kouvola, Finland, rises a new band with beautiful yearning doom metal melodies and crushing death metal riffs. 

The band was formed in the cold winter of 2016. After some line up changes and finding their sound, the band released their first EP ”Shadows Dance” in three singles between 2020-2021. ”Dead Ends” EP was released in 2023 and it felt like the band had sharpened their sound and style. 

A New EP “Gates of Hell” is set to be released later in 2025 via Inverse Records.
