Following her October 2024 UK tour, celebrated blues rock guitarist Samantha Fish returns to the UK in May and June 2025 for 4 exclusive UK concerts that will take at Cheese & Grain, Frome (May 28), Arts Club, Liverpool (May 30), The Brook, Southampton (May 31), and O2 Academy2 Oxford (June 1).

Tickets for Frome, Liverpool, & Oxford are available from www.alttickets.com/samantha-fish-tickets. Tickets for Southampton are available from www.the-brook.com/tm-event/samantha-fish.

“I’m ecstatic to return to the UK for another round of concerts,” says Samantha. The recent tour in October was a blast and we can’t wait to play guitar for my growing UK fanbase.”

Samantha was Grammy-nominated for “Contemporary Blues Album of the Year” for her collaboration with Jesse Dayton on Death Wish Blues. Total Guitar Magazine voted Samantha as one of the “Top 100 Greatest Blues Guitarists” of all-time. Earlier this year, she joined Slash on his S.E.R.P.E.N.T. US Tour.

Samantha will play a selection of songs from her back catalogue of albums including Wild Heart, Chills & Fever, Belle of the West, Faster, Kill or Be Kind, and Death Wish Blues.

After launching her recording career in 2009, Samantha established herself as a rising star in the contemporary blues world. The charismatic singer-guitarist-songwriter has earned a reputation as a guitar hero and a powerful live performer, while releasing a series of acclaimed albums that have shown her restless creative spirit consistently pushing her in new, exciting, and often unexpected musical directions.

The New York Times called Fish, “An impressive blues guitarist who sings with sweet power,” and “One of the genre’s most promising young talents.” Her hometown paper, the Kansas City Star wrote: “Samantha Fish has kicked down the door of the patriarchal blues club and displays more imagination and creativity than some blues veterans exhibit over the course of their careers.”

Samantha believes her musical future is an open road. “I’m never going be a traditional blues artist, because that’s not who I am,” she says. “But it’s all the Blues for me. When Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf came out, what they were doing didn’t sound like anything that had been done in Blues before. You’ve got to keep that kind of fire and spirit. I’m never going to do Muddy Waters better than Muddy Waters, so I try to be who I am, and in doing that, I find my best voice.”

DHP Family, and The Brook, in association with The Main Thing presents:

Swedish melodeath metal masters In Mourning have announced to reissue their former, groundbreaking 2012- album “The Weight Of Oceans”! Slated for a re-release on February 14, 2025 as a Limited Double 180g Green Vinyl and CD Digipack, “The Weight Of Oceans” will be reissued in cooperation with Dalapop under license from Spinefarm Records. Pre-orders are now available via the Bengans Record Store at https://www.bengans.se/sv/artiklar/in-mourning/index.html and from Bandcamp via: https://inmourning.bandcamp.com/merch

A new exclusive T-shirt design will accompany the release!

“The Weight Of Oceans” marked the band’s mythology inspired conceptual story that journeys to the sea. Musically, In Mourning blends a broad spectrum of influences into a foundation of melodic death metal. Thrusting from doomy metal-riffs, blasting drumbeats and deep growling vocals to calm breezes of clean flowing melodies and harmonies.

“The Weight Of Oceans, our old kraken is resurfacing!” The band comments. “It’s with extreme relief that we finally are able to re-release The Weight of Oceans, this release is well sought after and it feels great to release it on a 180 gram double LP and on a new digipack CD. Also a kick-ass shirt design made by the amazing Coki Greenway is just the icing on the cake.”

Guitarist Tim Nedergård adds:

“Even though this is our third record, it feels like it’s the one that has been with us the longest. I remember when the recordings were done, that we talked about the third record as being “the one” that would prove if bands were the real deal or not.”

Industrial Legend LEÆTHER STRIP Release Single ‘One Hundred Years’ from Forthcoming Cure Tribute

Posted by tarjavirmakari on December 20, 2024
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: LEÆTHER STRIP. Leave a comment

Danish industrial powerhouse Claus Larsen, aka Leæther Strip, and The Cure go back a long way.

A fan since the earliest days, Larsen was among the first acts to contribute to the 1997 tribute album 100 Tears (still available from Cleopatra Records on CD and purple spatter vinyl – https://cleorecs.com/products/100-tears-a-tribute-to-the-cure-purple-splatter-vinyl?_pos=2&_psq=The+Cure&_ss=e&_v=1.0)

“I’ve been a life long fan ever since their first single ‘Killing An Arab,” released in my teens, back when I was more into Punk and before I bought my first synth. Since then, no matter what they did and do, I love it, even the very poppy stuff. Robert Smith’s words have also always inspired me. He’s a master at creating inner pictures in my head. Not many lyrics have that effect on me.”

On February 7, 2025, Leæther Strip returns to Robert Smith and co with his own impeccable and hard-hitting full-length tribute to the band’s seminal 1982 album Pornography, reinventing all eight of the goth classic’s dense and dramatically dark tracks – plus two special bonus Cure covers for the CD and digital formats!

The first single from the album, “One Hundred Years,” is also the collection’s opening track – as it was on Pornography itself – and, like the Cure’s original, it firmly sets out the parameters which guided Leæther Strip

SINGLE: https://orcd.co/ls_onehundredyears

It certainly occupies a very special place in Larsen’s heart. “For me it’s an iconic album. One of those albums that will always be played. It’s darkness, it’s pain with a tiny bit of hope in the music just move me deeply.

“I chose to pay tribute to that album in my way. I wanted to make the light and hope in the songs a bit clearer and, as I love to dance, some good beats to it. Many would say ‘Don’t touch that album,’ but it’s all done as a heartfelt tribute to an album that saved my ass in many ways, and I’m sure I’m not the only one.  That album is for me the best ‘Goth’ album ever created.”

Recapturing the sheer intensity of the original album, but amplifying it through the forty-plus years that have elapsed since itsl release, Leæther Strip’s reinterpretation of Pornography arrives at a time when The Cure’s personal stock has seldom been higher – indeed, their latest album, Songs of a Lost World has been described as their very best new release since Pornography itself.

Leæther Strip now raise Pornography even higher, with an album that impacts just as dramatically, and drives just as determinedly as the original.  In fact, it’s hard to think of any single artist tribute to an individual album that so effortlessly recaptures, let alone elaborates upon, the mood of its model.

THE GREAT OLD ONES have always been known to craft intriguing narrative-based concept albums based on the works of revered 20th century horror writer H.P. Lovecraft. While not a new concept in the metal scene – The Great Old Ones does it ever so differently, never losing the thread throughout their decade-long discography.

On Kadath, the Great Old Ones dip even deeper into Lovecraft’s storied Dreamlands. New single “Under the Sign of Koth” sheds light on the next chapter of Randolph Carter’s journey into darkness. “Climbing the huge stone steps, seeing yellowish-red eyes, I’m running under, under the sign of Koth” vocalist Benjamin Guerry wails as the band tears through the very fabric that dreams are made of.

A name is whispered which chills the spine and quickens the pulse – THE GREAT OLD ONES. Like phantoms emerging from the fog, they have haunted the world of Lovecraftian Black Metal with their sonorous, foreboding melodies and eldritch tales. Descending once more into the abyss of H.P. Lovecraft’s enigmatic universe, they have unearthed their latest opus, Kadath – an album that promises to be a journey of both magnificent dreams and unspeakable horrors.

THE GREAT OLD ONES emerged in 2009 from the old parts of the ancient Aquitanian harbour city of Bordeaux, France, a city famed for its secrets and deep red wine. After releasing their first album, Al Azif, the reactions of critics and fans were unanimously positive.

The band followed up with their second full-length, Tekeli-li, which garnered even higher praise. As a result, THE GREAT OLD ONES played a show at the acclaimed Roadburn festival, opened for BEHEMOTH in their homeland, played at Hellfest, and supported label mates SHINING and DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT.

The third full length, EOD – A Tale of Dark Legacy, (2017) marked another big step in the band’s fast rising career. The five-piece took the road with the legendary GAAHLS WYRD and embarked on a successful European co-headline tour with AUÐN from Iceland. THE GREAT OLD ONES also appeared on the billing of respected festivals, such as Brutal Assault and Eindhoven Metal Meeting, in front of a gigantic crowd of cultists.

THE GREAT OLD ONES have been crafting sonic landscapes that echo with the cries of ancient, cosmic deities and the whispers of forgotten realms. Their discography masterfully showcasing the sheer power of atmosphere and narrative, and has guided listeners through the darkest corners of Lovecraft’s mythos, earning them a devoted following among both metal aficionados and acolytes of the macabre. With their unique blend of harrowing intensity and sombre beauty, they have captured the essence of the otherworldly, marrying it with the raw, blackened heart of metal.

Kadath marks a bold departure from the oceanic depths of the Cthulhu mythos, venturing instead into the Dreamlands. It is here that we follow the protagonist, Randolph Carter, as he seeks the fabled city that haunts his visions. The album resonates with his longing and determination, embodying the treacherous path he treads amidst the capricious gods and monstrous entities that dwell within this twilight realm. Through seven tracks, THE GREAT OLD ONES tortuously narrate Carter’s odyssey, transcending the boundaries of music to evoke a world where fantasy intertwines with terror.

Recorded under the vigilant eye of Francis Caste at Studio Sainte-Marthe, Paris, Kadath‘s production is nothing short of sorcerous. Each note and whispers are imbued with the power to transport the listener, offering an escape into an epic, immersive universe. Benjamin Guerry’s haunting vocals and guitars, alongside the mesmerizing contributions of Aurélien Edouard and Alexandre Rouleau on guitars, the deep resonance of Gregory Vouillat’s bass, and the relentless assault of Julian Deana’s drums, forge an album of unmatched emotional depth and technical prowess.

Thus, behold the latest chapter in their eldritch saga, Kadath – their unyielding quest to explore the outer margins of reality and imagination. An invitation to journey beyond the familiar, into a world of cosmic dread and awe-inspiring beauty, where the ancient gods still roam and dreams bleed into reality.

NEST OF PLAGUES Release ‘Blackened Sky’ Visualizer from New Album

Posted by tarjavirmakari on December 20, 2024
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: NEST OF PLAGUES. Leave a comment

NEST OF PLAGUES have released a visualizer for ‘Blackened Sky’, taken from the band’s new album “Hellsolation”.

Blackened Sky is a story about a person who climbs up a mountain with all his effort to find the meaning of his life. On his way, he fights against physical obstacles put against him by nature like unbearable cold and extreme heights that he tries to overcome, while he also struggles with his mind. He goes through devouring thoughts in his head every second of every minute as in his mind he tries to defeat social expectations and the pressure on his shoulders created by society (or himself?). When he reaches the top, he finds absolute solitude and strength. There is only him and the endless sky there.

The song is the second single from Nest of Plagues’ third concept album ‘Hellsolation’ being released this September. The album deals with social problems and creates a metaphor for the struggles that we all go through every day. In the video of Blackened Sky, the band visualizes how vulnerable and helpless a person can be while life hurdles problems at them – they just stand silently and bear the pain while they’re constantly hit in the face by ‘bombs’. Despite the serious lyrical message, they don’t break away from their eclecticism – the video has a trash horror image and doesn’t neglect humor either.

With their lyrics, Nest of Plagues reflects on modern social diseases like social anxiety, depression, and the feeling of loneliness that people can collectively feel. Sharing this message, they encourage people to face their mental problems and connect, use the power of community. Bringing a fresh sound to the stage, they expanded from a metalcore sound into groove metal with elements of alternative metal while still adding a little core edge to the mix. Due to their eclectic image and powerful live performances, they bring a little joy and fun where it seems there is only darkness.

The song was mixed and mastered by Gábor Vári, the producer of Miracle Sound. The music video was produced by Peter John Kiss. Artwork were created by Sándor Szalay.

“Hellsolation” is now available on all digital platforms: https://orcd.co/hellsolation
