Finnish progressive metal powerhouse THE HYPOTHESIS has released a brand new music video for their track “Where the Dreams Come to Die”, taken from the band’s latest album, “Evolve”, released via Noble Demon (October 2024).

“The song depicts a person trapped in a cycle of wasted time and unfulfilled dreams, watching life pass by while claiming to be fine. With former members now playing in renowned bands such as Opeth and Stratovarius, THE HYPOTHESIS is a powerhouse quartet with a relentless drive for musical excellence.

“Evolve”, their latest offering, is a testament to their continued growth and artistic vision. It offers a captivating sonic journey that will resonate with fans of progressive metal acts such as Gojira, Textures, and Tesseract.

RUNOPATIA Unveil Single ‘Serce Krwawe’ from Upcoming EP “Archaista”

Posted by tarjavirmakari on November 22, 2024
Posted in: News. Tagged: RUNOPATIA. Leave a comment

Runopatia formed in 2008 as an avant-garde black metal project, with its own interpretation of this genre. Emotional hypersensitivity, influencing the need for expression, which does not conform to any norms and limitations, except for its own, remains consciously the most important constant in the band’s identity. As time passes, spectre alike lurking in a void between the records, only emphasizes the archaic nature and selflessness of Runopatia’s and its member’s work.

Musicians of Runopatia about upcoming record: “Technically, “Archaistia” remains easiest to follow, catchy, if you will, Runopatia record to this day and stays so, due all but simplest form and composition of the tracks. Main factor, probably, being responsible for how this EP found to represent itself at the end, is simply because it was predicted to be recorded, yet unplanned in a core, but at the same time, changed drastically somehow spontaneous, at the very late stage.

Visually, simultaneously, it is no less rooted in archaic, townsfolks atmosphere of the times that were never lived, but recognized as a view from renaissance woodcuts in printed fairy tales. Tearing us from reality into telling stories and poems of infinite imagination.“

Tracklist:

01. Świat Przejrzy
02. Serce Krwawe
03. Za Późno

Music was recorded, mixed and mastered by Przemysław Nowak at Impressive-Art Studio (Odraza, Asgaard, Outre, Totenmesse). “Archaista” EP will be released digitally (pre-save) and as limited CD on December 13, 2024 by Polish underground label TDM Archivist. Pre-order is available via Bandcamp.

Line-up:

Nevervil – music
Wojmir – vocal

Perfect in time for their tour kick-off with BLACK BOMB A and SPACE OF VARIATIONS, today, German metal frontrunners DUST BOLT have unleashed “Who I Am”, a previously-unreleased gem taken off the band’s “Trapped In Chaos” album recordings!

The song is now streaming on all digital providers at: https://dust-bolt.bfan.link/who-i-am

Says DUST BOLT’s frontman, Lenny B.:

“‘WHO I AM’ is a thrash hardcore banger that we recorded during the sessions for our 4th album *TRAPPED IN CHAOS*. The song kind of got lost in the archives at some point, but when I stumbled across it again this year, I thought, “This is a pretty cool tune, and it would suck not to show it to the fans and not release it.” Being on tour with a special lineup featuring BLACK BOMB A and Space of Variations this fall/winter, which will definitely introduce DUST BOLT to a new audience, it felt like the right time to present “WHO I AM.” I think the title fits perfectly, and we are very excited to add it to this very special setlist that we’re going to play on this tour. See you all on the road. The Bolt is on fire!”

Since their formation in 2007, DUST BOLT have been resolute and ruthless in their pursuit of metal glory over the last 16 years. Childhood friends with a collective passion for metal in all its various forms, the quartet have established themselves as one of Europe’s leading thrash metal bands. Their latest, much discussed studio album Sound & Fury (released in February 2024 on AFM Records, order HERE), refines and noisily redefined the band’s sound for a new era.

Written during those isolated months of pandemic lockdown, Sound & Fury represents the peak of the band’s creativity, and a major leap forward in every department. The first DUST BOLT record to feature new bassist Tom Liebing, alongside Lenny Bruce, guitarist Florian Dehn and drummer Nico Remann, Sound & Fury grew from a long period of self-reflection that began when the world shut down.

Although still rooted in thrash and old school metal, the new record adds dazzling colour and diversity to the band’s trademark sound. With pummelling grooves, spine-tingling dynamics and a startling, part-melodic vocal performance from Lenny Bruce who also produced and recorded the album, with an analogue mix by Moritz Enders [Revolverheld, Silbermond], the new songs mark the beginning of a new era of DUST BOLT destruction!

DUST BOLT is:
Vocals / Guitar – Lenny Bruce
Guitar – Flo Dee
Bass – Exx Tom
Drums – Nico Rayman

As we head towards the release of the eagerly anticipated 2025 album from France’s STINKY, the band aids the temptation by delivering another solid track in the shape of new digital single and music video for “Under Care”. What makes “Under Care” even more special of a track is STINKY enlist the help of friend and inspiration Andrew Neufeld, singer of COMEBACK KID.

“Under Care” is effective and varied, mixing punk/hardcore parts, heady choruses, break-downs and pop-influenced clean vocals. Power and sharp melodies are the main ingredients, with intense lyrics intertwining emotional dependence and drug dependence. The track is a fine summary of the band’s new influences, promising a federative album.

“Under Care”, like previous singles “Alignment”, “Down in the Dumps”, and “Moonbow” are all part of the new STINKY album ‘Solace’ due out Feb 21st on M-Theory Audio. ‘Solace’ was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Fabien Guilloteau (Hacride, Klone, The Necromancers).

‘Solace’ is available to preorder now on limited-edition colored vinyl (white & green marble (EU) or green splatter on clear (US), CD or digital at THIS LOCATION

“STINKY demonstrate their desire to explore new horizons, and promise a varied and ever more melodic album,” explains drummer Paul Saltet.

‘Solace’ comes 5 years since the band’s previous full-length, ‘Of Lost Things,’ was released, and while the group’s sound is intact several new members have joined the band leaving just the core of drummer Paul and vocalist Clair. The 3 new members — Max on bass and Enzo and Clément on guitars — remain true to the group’s original mission and sound while expanding the palette created. The group has been active playing shows all over France, including key festivals like Hellfest, Omega Sound Fest, Brut’fier, SidFest, WeMetal Fest, and Nantes Metal Fest, as well as getting over to the UK for Manchester Punk Festival.

Since their formation a decade ago, STINKY has played more than 350 concerts across 15 different countries in support of their first three albums, 2015’s ‘Against Wind and Tide,’ 2017’s ‘From Dead-End Street,’ and 2020’s ‘Of Lost Things.’ While the band’s name might seem curious to some, their music is a combustible mix of energy and aggression with enough melody to keep it catchy and infectious.

More new music and information from ‘Solace’ will be released in the months leading up to its release.

STINKY live:
11/30 – MJC Le Grand Cordel – Rennes, France
12/20 – La Luciole – Alençon, France

MELANIE’s “Reimaginings” Album Out Now – Treasure Trove of Rarities And Alternate Versions of Familiar Songs

Posted by tarjavirmakari on November 22, 2024
Posted in: News. Tagged: Melanie. Leave a comment

What Goldmine magazine describes as “one of the most significant reissue campaigns of recent years” continues with the release of Reimaginings, a deluxe 42 track collection which saw Melanie revisiting (and in some cases, remixing) some of the most beloved songs from across her career.

Melanie never permitted her songs to stand still.  Both in concert and in private, she was forever looking back and making changes – to how she played them, how she sang them and how she personally interpreted them.  “I think of songs as living beings who develop and grow as they get older,” she explained last year, and occasionally she would include these latest revisions on record, on live albums of course, but also new studio recordings.

This 2 CD set is remarkable in that, for the first time, it compiles performances that were previously released, in perplexingly piecemeal fashion, across a bewildering variety of budget compilations. Melanie’s own archive contained twenty or so different albums drawn from these recordings, but it is likely that there were many more.  “I gave up counting,” she shrugged.

Many fans, and Melanie too, have numbered rerecordings from these sessions among their favorite Melanie recordings, while some of husband/producer Peter Schekeryk’s remixes are so audacious that it is impossible to ignore them – none more so than the so-called “Ruby Tuesday ’99,” which imposes both a rapper and a guitar straight out of another Stones song, “Honky Tonk Women,” upon what was originally Melanie’s solo performance.

Then there’s the wildly reggae-fied “Brand New Key,” with a guest appearance from the legendary Jimmy Cliff; her laughing introduction to “You Could Have Had Me For A Nickel”; another spoken intro, this time unforgettably realigning “Ruby Tuesday” with “a chain of restaurants”; and an all-time darkest, mysterious take on “Tuning My Guitar,” recorded with son Beau Jarred.

Combining familiar shots with a wealth of unseen pictures, and an introduction from mutual friend Peter Yarrow, May I Have This Dance offers a joyful, whimsical celebration of Melanie, in both her public and private life,.

Dragonknight have released a lyric-video for “The Imperator”, first single taken from the debut album “Legions” to be released on January 17th by Scarlet Records. PRE-SAVE/PRE-ORDER

“The Imperator” is a depiction of brothers and sisters waiting for their commander to once again rally the unbending, undefeated and unstoppable Legion to strike down the enemy with the force of a thousand storms. The horns blaring for the supreme champion, the whispering strings and woodwinds carrying the tales told in the warmth of the campfires… All this condensed into a hard-hitting heavy metal song with a powerful groove and an ear-worm of a chorus makes it a solid introduction to the music of Dragonknight.

Are you ready to answer the Dragonknight call, join their mighty Legion and, if such fate should fall upon you, DIE FOR METAL?!
