GODSLAVE Release New Single And Video ‘Thrash ‘Til Death’ (DESTRUCTION Cover)

Posted by tarjavirmakari on September 29, 2024
Posted in: News. Tagged: GODSLAVE. Leave a comment

GODSLAVE have released their new single and video “Thrash ‘Til Death”, watch below.

The ‘till death’, the end of the band, would almost have been 2020, and 2021, and 2022… the five from Saarland in Western Germany have had a tough time… and are therefore celebrating all the harder that they are still around and have been for a full 15 years – Happy Birthday!

No song fits better than ‘Thrash “till death” to kick off the birthday celebrations – GODSLAVE are setting themselves up for eternity and taking their hats off to their role models and friends from DESTRUCTION.

From 27 September to February 2025, the guys will be serving up a constant stream of little gifts to themselves and their listeners.

At the centre of the celebration is the documentary ‘Hinter der Kulisse’ (Behind the Scenes), which gives an unsparingly open and honest account of the reasons why the band almost didn’t make it. The celebration culminates with the release of the tribute album ‘Champions’, which is being prepared with a whopping 4 singles from November – here GODSLAVE open the backstage door wide to show us which songs inspired them to make music, who their ‘champions’ are – one of the reasons why they turned the corner again as a band – the pure passion for music!

For a perfect overview of everything that is to come, the band has created its own landing page: www.godslave.de/15years  where you can find everything about the birthday and exciting background information about the songs and the documentary!

Look forward to GODSLAVE constantly serving you new content for the next 5 months.

BREN BERRY Release Video for New Single ‘Turn On Your Radio’ from Upcoming Debut Solo Album

Posted by tarjavirmakari on September 29, 2024
Posted in: News. Tagged: BREN BERRY. Leave a comment

“Turn On Your Radio” is the new single taken from Bren Berry‘s forthcoming debut solo album which is called “In Hope Our Stars Align”.

The song is another melodic love letter to the power of music and to “things that can’t be sold” featuring Berry’s trademark layers of guitars & infectious vocal hooks and harmonies. It’s also defined by Bren’s reflective and honest lyricism which is delivered with empathy and tenderness.

“When I was kid, I spent a lot of time in The Liberties with my Aunt Norrie who was a massive Elvis Presley fan and introduced me to the magic of radio,” reflects Bren. “I have always loved discovering great music on the radio, listening to so many great DJ’s especially at night.”

“Turn on your Radio” is also a metaphor, a protest song, an SOS “Ground control to Major Tom” broadcast to a world in trouble and running out of road. It’s a call to tune in to ourselves and the world around us as we continue to sleep-walk into climate and social disasters everywhere.
“I wrote it as we were resurfacing after lockdown and think it captures the sense of isolation, loss and alienation that we were all feeling, like an earthbound Space Oddity stuck in cruise control.”

The song was produced by Berry & Gavin Glass in Orphan Studios and mixed and mastered by Daniel James Goodwin at The Isokon, Virginia. Berry is joined by Glass on guitars, bass & synths, Binzer Brennan on drums and Gavin Fox on backing vocals.

JULIET’S NOT DEAD to Release New Single ‘Open Fire’ on October 4th, New Album “This World Is Ours” Out in Early 2025

Juliet’s Not Dead release their new rocker, ‘Open Fire‘, on 4th October, the second track from upcoming album ‘This World Is Ours’ which is set for release early 2025.

Stevie states: “This song means so much to me, it was one of the ones finished and totally encapsulated what myself and the other lads were feeling at the time. Releasing a song like Thrillseekers first was great because it’s so on the nose of being heavy & melodic, and a bit more in the direction we are going as a band, whereas this next single Open Fire follows on from where we have been. I really love this song’

Preorder the single here: https://earache.lnk.to/OpenFire

Juliet’s Not Dead (formerly Twister) head out on a UK tour this Autumn under their new moniker, which will see them include their first new music since their 2022 EP ‘Only The Strong Survive’.
Main man Stevie Stoker said of the name change, “This is probably the biggest decision we’ve ever made as a band, having gone under the Twister banner for so long. But following the completion of our new album with Romesh (Dodangoda, as producer) it just felt time to evolve, to kick it up, to create a brand that better represents our sound. It was hard to take the plunge but now it’s done it feels great. We love our new name and I now need another tattoo!”
He added, “We will still be playing Twister songs, they are now just Juliet’s Not Dead songs and when coupled with the new material folks will see that growth and natural progression. These are exciting times for us, not that we were jaded or treading water but the new material sounds fresh and takes us to another level. Now we get to show our fans and hopefully gain some new ones too. We’ve spent so long perfecting this show and now we absolutely can’t wait to get out there and play for everyone.”

The run of dates will take the band up and down the country and will include new music taken from their 2nd studio album, slated for release early February 2025.

On the upcoming album, Stevie says: “I love this album, not only do I think it’s the best music we’ve ever written, but it was also the most enjoyable writing and recording process I’ve ever been a part of. Me and Jack wrote for most of 2023. We were even recording demos while on tour round Europe. We started by having the right production team and approaching it with a clear view of what we wanted the final result to be. Romesh and the boys at Longwave made our job easy and we literally smiled and laughed our way through it.”

Heralding from the North East, Juliet’s Not Dead are an adrenaline fuelled, driven band with the sole intention of thrilling their audiences at every show. Having just finished recording the follow up to the highly acclaimed debut album ready for release in February 2025, and if their latest EP ‘Only The Strong Survive’ is anything to go by; attitude filled riffs and a killer modern edge will be abundant.

The band have paired with mercury prize & Grammy nominated producer Romesh Dodangoda to set about crafting something special. Since the release tour for single ‘Don’t Play Nice’ in April 2022, JND have been crushing live performances with a truly unique visual show built in to a wall of Marshall cabs.

Just one way the JND boys have put a unique twist to a traditional staple of a rock show. After raising over £6k for music charities during the pandemic the boys took crowds by storm on two self-promoted UK headline tours in 2022, selling over 2000 tickets in the process. With single “secrets” getting to #1 in the iTunes rock charts as well as being track of the week on Planet Rock & also had significant air time on BBC, following similar success with previous releases, their stock is rising rapidly. As well as 2 UK support tours and countless festivals, 2023 saw the band tour all over Europe and play in a total of 11 countries, and they can’t wait for what is to come next!

BLACK NOTE GRAFFITI Release Stomping New Single ‘The Source’

Ann Arbor-based rock band Black Note Graffiti returns with their hard-hitting new single, ‘The Source,’ out now on Golden Robot Records. The track is giving fans a chance to experience the next evolution of the band’s intense sound and introspective lyricism.

Order ‘The Source’ here: https://orcd.co/the-source

‘The Source‘ dives deep into the turmoil of self-destruction, portraying a vivid picture of the internal battles one faces while caught in a relentless cycle of addiction. The haunting lyrics, with evocative phrases like “crawl” and “kill,” illustrate the weight of personal struggles, where relief is sought in the very forces pulling one further into darkness. Despite being aware of the consequences, the grip of addiction can often feel inescapable, leaving individuals seeking solace in their own undoing.

The song culminates with the line, “Waking up to nothing real,” a poignant reflection on the aftermath of sobriety – where reality feels elusive, blurred, and almost intangible. Black Note Graffiti captures this raw emotional experience with their signature blend of crushing riffs, soaring melodies, and a visceral energy that will resonate with listeners on a deep, emotional level.

Black Note Graffiti continues to push the boundaries of rock, delivering music that challenges and connects. With a reputation for powerful live performances and meaningful storytelling, the band is poised to make a major impact with ‘The Source.’

SÓLSTAFIR Premiere Daring Music Video for New Song ‘Blakkrakki’

Icelandic cowboys SÓLSTAFIR are now premiering the daring music video for their new single, “Blakkrakki,” which captures the band’s wild side. Meaning “The Black Dog,” the title is a metaphor that has its origin in myth and folklore. Watch the video, which was created by Bowen Staines at THIS LOCATION.

The song is taken from the band’s upcoming full-length, ‘Hin Helga Kvöl,’ which will be released on November 8 via Century Media Records, making it their debut to the label! Meaning “crepuscular rays” in Icelandic, the name “SÓLSTAFIR” refers to those piercing rays of sunlight that break through dark clouds at dusk. This imagery captures the essence of their upcoming album, a beacon of light and hope shining through the heaviest of times. As the band confronts their inner demons, shrugging off the trappings of rock and roll decadence, their music resonates with the universal struggle and triumph over hardship. ‘Hin helga kvöl’ is the holy war that we all face within. Pre-orders are now live HERE.

Bowen Staines, director for Don’t Panic Films, is shedding some light on the production of the video: “Regarding the production of the new music video for ‘Blakkrakki,’ this is actually the fifth video that I’ve been lucky enough to do with SÓLSTAFIR.

“This particular idea for a future video (which would ultimately become ‘Blakkrakki’) came to Addi and I maybe four or five years ago, when we discussed the possibility of putting everybody on a flatbed trailer, and then just drifting the thing around the runways at the Reykjavík Airport and shooting the whole thing in a single take. And so we put that idea onto the shelf for a few years until I heard a very early demo for ‘Blakkrakki’ almost four years ago at SÓLSTAFIR’s rehearsal space in Seltjarnarnes, the same day I asked them to learn ‘Dionysus’ at three-times the normal speed for the video we’d shoot for that song the next day. And I remember looking at Addi, and being like ‘I want to do THIS one!’ Four years later (but also, only a few weeks ago), the guys were playing the song while standing on a flatbed trailer doing sixty miles per hour on a stretch of highway surrounded on all sides by one of the oldest lava flows in Iceland.

“From a filmmaking standpoint, I opted to include shots that revealed the cameras, crew and our driver, Lexi, because I felt that it was really important to share that part of the process, as well as the teamwork that made this video happen in a single day. By comparison, both ‘Fjara’ and ‘Bláfjall’ had 60+ pages of shotlists, took nearly four months to shoot, and then another five or six months to edit… while ‘Blakkrakki’ was shot in a single day, and then edited over the following twenty-one — making this the fastest I have ever shot and edited a music video in my entire career. All of the camera movements and transitions were done 100% in-camera: there are no key-frames, digital fades or any motion paths, and as such, almost zero post-production.

“The most fun part of shooting the video was that everything was done totally guerrilla-style: active roads and highways, with the only items consistently strapped down being the cabs, amp heads, and the priceless Ludwig drumkit from 1963 that we BORROWED from a personal friend of the band… ‘Careful’ just doesn’t quite say it. Thankfully, the only thing that eventually/inevitably fell off was one of the Orange amp heads and one of Hallgrímur’s drumsticks, for which he had to run all the way back to find amongst the infinite expanses of highway, moss and lava far behind us.

“That being said, there was a point after we had done a dozen or so takes and had gotten comfortable with everyone being on the flatbed, where we found our way onto this huge stretch of road called Keilir and began hitting speeds upwards of fifty to sixty miles per hour — and every time a large truck passed us, you can actually see some of the cymbals flexing in a few of the shots that made it into the final video — as well as a couple really quick clips of some of us almost falling off the side while going up a steep switchback incline near Þingvellir.

“The final step was to transfer the whole video onto Super16mm film, so that it has a very organic, weighty feel to it. So yeah, this whole video was transferred directly onto reel-to-reel 16mm film, proving once again that the format is NOT dead! All in all, ‘Blakkrakki’ was a blast to make, and we hope you have fun watching it, too.”
