LIONS IN THE STREET Release New Single + Video ‘Shangri-La’ from Upcoming Album

Canadian rockers Lions in the Street release their new single “Shangri-La” on Friday 20 September 2024. The single is available on all streaming platforms LISTEN HERE. Watch the music video HERE.

“Shangri-La” is the second single taken from the band’s highly anticipated album Moving Along released Friday 8 November 2024. Pre-order the digital edition of the album HERE.  Pre-order the album in CD and vinyl formats HERE.

“Shangri-La is a rock’n’roll song that goes back to the call and response blues tradition via the Faces and Rod Stewart,” says Lions in the Street’s frontman and guitarist Chris Kinnon.

“We wrote it after living in LA for a long time making a record, then returning to 40 straight days of rain in Vancouver, Canada. It’s a song about the struggles of being in a rock band, with (in our humble opinion) the best classic rock guitar sounds since the second Black Crowes record and the Georgia Satellites.”

Lions in the Street are rock ‘n’ roll survivors

Comprising the Brothers Kinnon (Chris on vocals and guitar; Jeff on drums), riff-master Sean Casey (guitar), and classically educated bass player Enzo Figliuzzi, the Canadian/California-based band has played with everybody from garage legends like the Dirtbombs to arena stars Kings of Leon, making SXSW best-of lists numerous times, and in between hanging out with the Rolling Stones’ legendary manager Andrew Loog Oldham. But putting integrity first had a cost: obscurity.

Lions in the Street began their career by signing and then walking away from the troubled TVT Records (NIN, Pitbull, Little Jon), Nickelback’s 604 Records (Carly Rae Jepson), and legendary manager Allen Kovac (Motley Crue, The Cars, Blondie, The Bee Gees), earning them a spot on the music industry’s blacklist. Years in the wilderness resulted—working as a garbageman for almost a decade, surviving cancer, serious workplace injuries, and almost deadly car accidents, and going back to school.

Yet, despite experiencing the best and worst of the of old music business—from hanging out with Todd Rundgren, Bob Ezrin, and R.E.M.’s Peter Buck, to seeing an A&R guy almost fired just for going to see them play—the band somehow kept going, releasing music piecemeal.

For example, Lions in the Street released an EP in 2013 on British legend Sandy Roberton’s label. Roberton ran Blue Horizon, the English label that launched the 60s British Blues rock movement with John Mayall, Fleetwood Mac, and Rory Gallagher.

Now the streaming platforms revolution has given Lions in the Street a new life an audience, allowing them to release largely-unheard music—finally finished and remixed/remastered.

LITS’ upcoming album Moving Along captures their trademark swing and swagger. The title track, mixed by Rick Parker (Beck, BRMC, Scott Weiland), is a menacing, harmonica-driven vamp “worthy of Mick and Keith at their sticky fingered best” (Jambase.com).  “Moving Along” is also the lead track in the upcoming Paramount film “Cassino In Ischia”, starring Prison Break’s Dominic Purcell.

Never to rest on their laurels, Lions in the Street are also putting the finishing touches on a live album and a record they made with multi-Grammy-Award winning producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Greta Van Fleet, Brandi Carlile, Rival Sons).

“This is rock with a direct line back to the nasty blues, jump tunes, and country boogie that birthed the whole damn genre. Untamed, direct, and bristling with hairy masculinity, Lions in the Street play rock like the cause it is… that is when you do it right.” – Jambase

Track By Track with Chris Kinnon

Moving Along*
Relentless locomotive groove and harmonica with a message of resilience. Getting up after you’re knocked down, again and again. “When I was poor, I was a harder man I tell you. Worked 47 hours a week.  But with holes in my shoes, I didn’t have no blues.  Now I’m in an awful place.”

*Featured in upcoming Paramount film Cassino in Ischia starring Prison Break’s Dominic Purcell.

Mine Ain’t Yours
A fierce rock’n’roller with heart-on-its-sleeve Stones/Rod Stewart and the Faces influences, this song’s about standing up for yourself when people take something that doesn’t belong to them.  “That isn’t how you make it. Mine ain’t yours for taking.”

Walking Back To You
A southern rock jam a la Allmans, Derek and Dominoes, and Delaney & Bonnie, this is a song about forgiveness.  Sometimes people are good to you even when you don’t deserve it.  The outro guitar and piano sound like they could have been taken from a lost Layla session.

Gold Pour Down
A short, up-tempo rocker with R&B horns over top of a chugging guitar groove, this song encourages people to stay hopeful, faithful, and positive, and to always let the good prevail even when things seem hopeless.

All For Your Love
A modern take on Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac, this is mid-tempo, minor electric blues rock with edge.  A song about both despair and sacrifice.

Lady Blue
This wistful ballad would fit on a Skynyrd or Eagles album.  A classic northern take on a southern rock, a la Neil Young or the Band.  A song about regret, with organ swirls, languid vintage guitar tones, and a James Burton-inspired guitar solo setting the tone.

Waiting On A Woman
A saxophone solo over top of a guitar riff that’s all Keef attitude—say no more!

Already Gone
A Chuck Berry by-way-of Johnny Thunders stomper, this features a half-time chorus that invokes Rod Stewart and the Faces at their sloppy, countrified best.

Shangri La
Vancouver might be the world’s rainiest city.  Try spending months in sunny Los Angeles making a record then coming back to 40 straight days of rain in “Shangri-La.”  The instant-classic guitar riff that starts the song grows like a ’70 big-block Camaro.

Hey, Hey Arlene
Another Chuck Berry and rockabilly-inspired throwback to 50s rock’n’roll, but when you grow up listening to the first Clash album.

Truer Now
Pedal steel and acoustic guitars, with a chorus that invokes Zeppelin III influences.

You’re Gonna Lose
Hey, you can fight a garbage man, but you’re gonna lose! As mean a guitar riff as anything since the James Gang, and with an outro Albert King-inspired jam that will keep the Cream fans happy!

With tireless perseverance and distinct musical and production talent, the unrelenting ascent of top-charting modern nu metal stars TETRARCH has been palpable in the scene since the release of their first album, 2017’s Freak, followed by their Napalm Records label debut, the highly-acclaimed Unstable, in 2021. Now, after three years of intensely focused growth, the band is thrilled to release their first taste of brand new music – launching their next unmissable era.

Today, following yesterday’s world premiere on SiriusXM Liquid Metal with Jose “Metal Ambassador” Mangin, TETRARCH‘s gripping new 90s industrial-injected anthem “Live Not Fantasize” has fully impacted earth. Pummeling guitars and drums blend with intense electronic flourishes, as guitar icon for the new era Diamond Rowe deftly accents the eerie vocals of Josh Fore with quick riffage and a dynamic, spine-tingling guitar solo.

Partnered with a high-quality, energetic, story-driven music video, the track – co-produced by renowned producer Dave Otero, Diamond Rowe and Josh Fore – provides an intense preview for what’s to come for TETRARCH in the new year.

Guitarist Diamond Rowe offers about the track and video:
“We are extremely excited to release ‘Live Not Fantasize’ to the world. We had a lot of fun writing this song because of how heavy and aggressive it is, while still having a big catchy chorus that gets stuck in your head. This song is about never letting the negative feelings and thoughts in your mind define who you are and doing everything you can to get through tough times to find peace within yourself – so that you can live instead of dreaming of something better.”

Keep watch in 2025, because as Guitar World claimed for all to see – “TETRARCH are on the verge of world domination”!

Fierce individuality and a fearless embrace of the outsider are at the heart of TETRARCH. Combining energetic modern musical aggression and lyrical honesty while organically and proudly honoring nu metal’s foundations, the band leads the charge of the genre’s new wave – appealing to fans both in and outside of the metal scene, and enthusiastically providing newcomers a gateway into heavy music.

The band’s tireless hard work and relentless determination has established them as one of the top newer bands in heavy music, catching the attention of major media including Pollstar, Billboard, Revolver, Alternative Press, Guitar World, Guitar Player, Premier Guitar, Kerrang! and Metal Hammer, many in which lead guitarist Diamond Rowe was the first African American female lead guitarist from the heavy metal genre to be featured. Featured on Spotify playlists such as Kickass Metal, Rock Hard, New Blood and Metal Tracks, the band has also seen stellar support from Apple Music and their users, appearing on several additional playlists.

TETRARCH’s most recent album, Unstable, received massive critical acclaim. Upon release, Unstable‘s debut single, “I’m Not Right”, cracked the Mediabase Active Rock Top 30 and has garnered over 13 million combined cross-platform streams to date. Follow up single “You Never Listen” received support from SiriusXM, HardDrive, Full Metal Jackie and many more of the country’s leading active rock outlets. Having appeared on major festivals such as Epicenter and Exit 111 and boasting tours with genre icons such as Sevendust, Atreyu and Nonpoint, TETRARCH are poised to elevate themselves to the next level with the mighty nonconformist’s spirit that has driven them since day one.

Exclusive Premiere for Finland: BLACK OAK COUNTY ‘Crossed The Line’ Lyric Video

BLACK OAK COUNTY once again hit the ether with brand new single and lyric video, “Crossed the Line”!

Danish hard rock band BLACK OAK COUNTY is closing in on the release date of their third studio album “III”, with yet another entry from the coming record.

“”Crossed The Line” is a song about addiction, the struggles we phase on our own – even though we shouldn’t have to. It’s about throwing your life away because of substances, going back to a toxic relationship, or whatever you might be struggling with on a personal level.”

Musically, “Crossed The Line” is also a song about firsts for the Danish rockers, thanks to the song being co-written and produced by Nicklas Sonne (Defecto, Aries Descendant, Danish Eurovision preliminaries).

“We’re used to playing fast and heavy riffs, but this one is really a particular thundering one! It’s definitely one of the more metal-inspired songs on the album, with a constant chugging riff, and an almost metalcore-esque groove for the chorus – it really helps sell the story of desperation, frustration and disappointment, which is very prominent in the lyrics. Another first was we open the song right on Niels’ singing, which really catches you on the spot and draws you into the song immediately.”

“Crossed The Line” will be the opening track off of Black Oak County’s upcoming album “III”, set to release on October 25th, 2024 through Mighty Music.

Join the premiering here:

The Danish hard rock quartet Black Oak County releases their third album, taking them to new musical horizons, with a wide mix of thundering breakdowns, catchier choruses than ever before, a massive wall of pounding guitar riffs, and a heartfelt piano ballad.

“III” is co-written and produced with Danish metal heavyweight Nicklas Sonne (Defecto, Aries Descendant, Danish Eurovision preliminaries), which proved to be a fruitful creative relationship between the two parties.

“We came to Nicklas and worked on [the singles] “Save Your Breath” and “Fire Inside” together back in 2023, and we absolutely loved the process”, the band says. “It was amazing for us to have someone as competent as Nicklas giving us feedback on our songs, their structures, compositions and riffs – just to have someone impartial to work with, who wanted nothing but the best for the songs was awesome. We knew right away that we wanted to do a full album together, and hadn’t left the studio before we started working on songs for “III” together”.

The album marks a return-to-form for the band, reuniting with guitarist/singer Niels Beier on 2022’s singles “Back For Blood” and “It’s On You”, produced by former grammy nominee Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Asinhell) and co-written with Soren Andersen (Glenn Hughes, Mike Tramp). Now with both Beier and singer/bassist René Kristensen doing vocal duties in the band, new musical doors have opened for the Esbjerg-based rockers.

“We realized we had two great singers and hadn’t utilized it before”, Kristensen confirms. “We took advantage of that on “Back For Blood”, but have worked out the songs for the album with this in mind. There’s a lot of back-and-forth between us on this album, swapping verses and choruses, doing harmonies for each other’s parts, etc., and we sound better than ever on this album!”.

Black Oak County have dug deep into their pile of musical ideas, in order to come up with a wider range of songs than ever, incorporating brand new ideas with older material from the early days of their career. “III” is an energetic record, with the band’s well-known mixture of high-intensity low-tuned riffs paying homage to their metal and hard rock heroes, mixed with modern mixing techniques, synthesizers and a fresh take on the band’s familiar sound.

“III” will be released on digipack CD, LP (black and green vinyl versions available, each limited to 200 copies) and digital on October 25th, 2024 via Mighty Music.
