Exclusive Premiere for Finland: SILVERA ‘Show Me How To Live’ Official Video

Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: SILVERA. Leave a comment

SILVERA concludes their album run with the electrifying single and official video, “Show Me How to Live”. This track embodies one of Silvera’s trademarks: a catchy chorus that stays with you long after the song ends. The powerful vocal arrangements add depth and intensity, showcasing the band’s remarkable synergy and musical craftsmanship.

“Show Me How to Live” is poised to be a hit, with its radio-friendly appeal and widespread resonance among fans. It’s a definitive track that not only captures the essence of Silvera’s sound but also has the potential to reach an even broader audience, solidifying their mark in the music industry.

Enjoy the video premiering here:

Coming from the same country that offered Volbeat and D-A-D to the world, Silvera stands for hard rock with a modern twist and timeless melodies. More than taking the legacy of Denmarks’s rock and metal music, the nordic four-piece started building their own history in 2020 with “Edge Of The World”, the debut album that put them on the map of all modern hard rock lovers. Songs such as “Generation Z” and “Light In Life” immediately took off in streaming services, gathering more than one million hits each and starting the anticipation for Silvera’s sophomore album right there.

Enter “World Behind Doors”. On their second album, Silvera endeavored to maintain the core elements of their own sound while also expanding their horizons. This led the four-piece to experiment with new techniques, such as incorporating harsh vocals into one of the songs and composing three new tracks in the studio. This departure from their previous approach, where the foundational elements of songs were typically established prior to entering the studio, allowed for a fresh creative process. The result: an even fresher set of songs, taking the best elements of metal rock and everything in between and putting them together to create songs that really stand out.

Once again, all the music was meticulously recorded at Hansen Studios, with Jacob Hansen (Anette Olzon, Arch Enemy, Delain, Epica) playing a pivotal role in preserving the essence of the Silvera sound. His guidance in discerning which elements of the songs to emphasize proved invaluable, and his dedication truly shone through in the final product. Additionally, the vocals were expertly recorded at Martin Buus’ studio, where Martin’s skillful production not only enhanced Michael Krogh’s vocal range but also fostered a seamless collaboration between them. The synergy between Martin and Michael exceeded any expectations, resulting in an album that surpassed the band’s initial vision.

On this album, akin to their first release, Silvera are thrilled to feature collaborations, this time with Dreamshade and Guarnica Mancini from The Gems / Thundermother, all of whom delivered exceptional performances. Their deep understanding of the band’s vision for the songs resulted in interpretations that, once again here, surpassed any expectations.

“World Behind Doors,” has all it takes to propel Silvera toward new heights and make them step into the next level. If there is any justice left in the music business these days, that’s exactly what will happen.

“World Behind Doors” will be released on LP (yellow vinyl, limited to 100 copies), digipack CD and digital formats on August 23rd, 2024 via Mighty Music.

Exclusive Premiere for Finland: BLACK OAK COUNTY ‘Boom Boom Baby’ Lyric Video Feat. Nicklas Sonne

Danish hard rockers Black Oak County are ramping up for the release of their anticipated third album “III”, with their highly energetic new single and video “Boom Boom Baby”, featuring Nicklas Sonne (Defecto, Aries Descendant, Danish Eurovision preliminaries).

““Boom Boom Baby” is kind of a silly party song based on an experience a friend of ours had in our teenage years. It’s a comedic and cheeky song with plenty of balls (literally!), a bad-ass riff, one of the catchiest choruses of the album. We had such a fun time writing and recording this tune with Nicklas, and felt this was the perfect song for him to join in on!” says the band, currently gearing up for another run of shows in Denmark and Germany later this summer.

With its intense, groovy and dead-simple riff and its massive chorus, hook and melody, “Boom Boom Baby” marks a venture into new musical territory for the Danish quartet – who decided to take a step further in a new direction, by having their very first feature artist on a track.

“With the theme of the lyric and the hookline, we felt like this song could be even better by having a sort of “antagonist” join in for the third verse – and Nicklas’ vocals just fit our sound perfectly. He blends amazingly with both René and Niels in the final chorus, and in some cases felt like a third voice in the band like he’d always been there. His gritty vocal performance perfectly summarizes the climax of the song, and not only that – he plays a kickass guitar solo on “Boom Boom Baby” as well! We couldn’t be happier with how this collaboration turned out!”.

“III” was written in collaboration with Sonne, who co-produced, engineered, mixed and mastered the album, which is set to release on October 25th, 2024 through Mighty Music.
Catch Black Oak County on tour, as they head out into Europe for a series of dates in Denmark and Germany, with the year culminating in a nationwide tour of Denmark with Danish guitar legends Electric Guitars. For more information, head to http://www.blackoakcounty.com

Join the premiering here:

The Danish hard rock quartet BLACK OAK COUNTY release their third album, taking them to new musical horizons, with a wide mix of thundering breakdowns, catchier choruses than ever before, a massive wall of pounding guitar riffs, and a heartfelt piano ballad.

“III” is co-written and produced with Danish metal heavyweight Nicklas Sonne (Defecto, Aries Descendant, Danish Eurovision preliminaries), which proved to be a fruitful creative relationship between the two parties.

“We came to Nicklas and worked on [the singles] “Save Your Breath” and “Fire Inside” together back in 2023, and we absolutely loved the process”, the band says. “It was amazing for us to have someone as competent as Nicklas giving us feedback on our songs, their structures, compositions and riffs – just to have someone impartial to work with, who wanted nothing but the best for the songs was awesome. We knew right away that we wanted to do a full album together, and hadn’t left the studio before we started working on songs for “III” together”.

The album marks a return-to-form for the band, reuniting with guitarist/singer Niels Beier on 2022’s singles “Back For Blood” and “It’s On You”, produced by former grammy nominee Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Asinhell) and co-written with Soren Andersen (Glenn Hughes, Mike Tramp). Now with both Beier and singer/bassist René Kristensen doing vocal duties in the band, new musical doors have opened for the Esbjerg-based rockers.

“We realized we had two great singers and hadn’t utilized it before”, Kristensen confirms. “We took advantage of that on “Back For Blood”, but have worked out the songs for the album with this in mind. There’s a lot of back-and-forth between us on this album, swapping verses and choruses, doing harmonies for each other’s parts, etc., and we sound better than ever on this album!”.

Black Oak County have dug deep into their pile of musical ideas, in order to come up with a wider range of songs than ever, incorporating brand new ideas with older material from the early days of their career. “III” is an energetic record, with the band’s well-known mixture of high-intensity low-tuned riffs paying homage to their metal and hard rock heroes, mixed with modern mixing techniques, synthesizers and a fresh take on the band’s familiar sound.

“III” will be released on digipack CD, LP (black and green vinyl versions available, each limited to 200 copies) and digital on October 25th, 2024 via Mighty Music.

BEWITCHER Unleash Music Video for Vicious New Single ‘Dystopic Demonolatry’

All the best tunes belong to the Devil, and Portland’s bastard sons BEWITCHER have returned to take back rock n’ roll in Baphomet’s name. The speed demons’ latest offering from their upcoming full-length, ‘Spell Shock,’ raises BEWITCHER’s horns and pushes their extremes straight into the fiery red. Today the code is magenta when BEWITCHER invite you to join their unholy circle for “Dystopic Demonolatry.” Watch the video, which conjures up old-school metal nostalgia, at THIS LOCATION.

Bewitcher bassist A. Magus comments, “Any of you fuckers spent your Friday nights taping heavy metal videos to VHS off the ‘Ball or Loud?!’ Well, we sure as shit did! Join us as we dive into the late 80’s and early 90’s where metal music was relegated to late night cable TV. Like a lost cable-access performance, ‘Dystopic Demonolatry’ is raucous, raw, and ripping from beginning to end! We hope you dig it.”

‘Spell Shock’ is due on September 27 via Century Media Records and pre-orders can be found HERE.

Joining Von Bewitcher, bassist A. Magus, and drummer A. Hunter in the studio this time was none other longtime BEWITCHER fan Lars Frederiksen. Most of the world knows Frederiksen as a force in his own right, playing in the likes of Bay Area punk heroes Rancid, as well as his own Old Firm Casuals. While to some, it may have been an unlikely pairing with Frederiksen taking the producer’s seat, for everyone in the studio the connection was immediate.

As Frederiksen previously commented on ‘Spell Shock’: “It’s the best record I’ve ever produced for one of the best bands in the world.”

In addition, BEWITCHER recently announced an extensive North American tour, in which they will be co-headlining with label-mates SKELETAL REMAINS. The full itinerary can be found below while tickets can be found HERE.

The artwork for ‘Spell Shock’ was created by Solo Macello.

Since their formation in 2013, Bewitcher has seen their signature “Black Magick Metal” sound go from humble beginnings to new heights of creativity and wild anthemic fervor. A small collection of long out-of-print demo tapes kicked off what has proven to be an enduring line of ripping studio albums, singles and EPs. They have earned a reputation as one of the hardest working touring acts around, bringing their volcanic, high energy live shows to every corner of North America and parts abroad.

From its eye-grabbing-and-gouging artwork by Italian horror maestro Solo Macello, to songs like the haunting “We Die in Dust,” to the epic closing track “Ride of the Iron Fox” (“That’s BEWITCHER’s Dokken song!” laughs A. Hunter.) Spell Shock is BEWITCHER at their most evolved and most devastatingly primal. “We wanted it to be an album experience,” says drummer A. Hunter. “Imagine King Diamond’s Abigail in terms of atmosphere merged with the energy of AC/DC’s High Voltage.”

Line-Up:
Mateo von Bewitcher – vox + guitars
A. Hunter – drums + percussion
A. Magus – bass guitar + backing vox

ELEPHANT TREE Drop Single ‘Visions (The Planet of Doom)’ from Upcoming Compilation Album

Posted by metalshockfinland on August 15, 2024
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: ELEPHANT TREE. Leave a comment

ELEPHANT TREE drop a second advance single from their new compilation album “Handful of Ten”, which features brand-new tracks, demos, and b-sides. The Londoners release the track ‘Visions (The Planet of Doom)’. Listen to the song below.

ELEPHANT TREE comment on ‘Visions (Planet of Doom)’: “This has been a long time coming for us“, guitarist and singer Jack Townley writes on behalf of the band. “It really captures where we were as a band in between the self-titled and ‘Habits’ albums. It was a cool project to be a part of and it is a shame that the animated ‘Planet of Doom’ film for which the song was written has yet to see a release. It also features our good friend Ryan ‘Biscuit’ Gledhill, who provided those crushing vocals at the end. He acts all big and scary but really he is like a little fluffy cow.”

September 2024 marks ten years since Magnetic Eye‘s release of beloved British stoner doom quartet ELEPHANT TREE‘s first album “Theia” (2014), and in observance of that milestone, the label is proud to showcase three releases celebrating one of the label’s flagship bands:

“Theia” (Anniversary Edition) and “Habits” (2020) are presented as reissues without additional audio content, but in new physical formats. The former comes packaged with updated artwork and significantly expanded background content (see below for more details) and the latter has been out of print almost since the year of its release.

The third release entitled “Handful of Ten” is a new full-length containing rare material including two new ELEPHANT TREE tracks, the first in numerous years, recorded specifically for this compilation.

All three albums are scheduled for release on September 6, 2024. Pre-orders are available via http://lnk.spkr.media/elephant-tree-ten

Tracklist:

  1. Attack of the Altaica (2013 Demo)
  2. Visions (The Planet of Doom)
  3. Try
  4. Bird (2017 Demo)
  5. Faceless (2017 Hurin Version)
  6. Sunday

The seed for ELEPHANT TREE was planted in a rehearsal space somewhere in the smelly back alleys of England’s sleepless capital of London in 2013. There, the first notes of what would become ‘Attack of the Altaica’ sprang from the bass of Jack Townley and Sam Hart’s drums. Thus, it is fitting that this earliest demo became the opening track of the band’s new rarities collection “Handful of Ten”.

Soon the duo became a trio with the addition of bassist and vocalist Peter Holland, who had already established himself in the London scene with TRIPPY WICKED & THE COSMIC CHILDREN OF THE KNIGHT, allowing Townley to pick up the guitar again. With the addition of Canadian sitar player Riley MacIntyre, who also stepped in as a third singer, the band’s classic first line-up was completed.

From there, things fell into place quickly. The infectious blend of warm, syrupy fuzz and soaring vocal harmonies on the demo ‘Attack of the Altaica’ captured the ears of Magnetic Eye Records. Soon a contract was signed and the debut full-length “Theia” was released in September 2014. ELEPHANT TREE had a lightning start and the debut album achieved an excellent reception by critics and fans alike. Now reissued as “Theia” (Anniversary Edition), the music of this milestone release is untouched, but the artwork has been given a refreshing inversion, and a wealth of rare photos, liner notes and lyrics have been added to provide a thorough look at the band’s first decade since the original release.

These hardworking Englishmen did not rest on their laurels, and in 2015 followed up with the self-titled sophomore full-length “Elephant Tree”. While “Theia” had opened the European continent for touring, their second album carried ELEPHANT TREE across the Atlantic to perform at the tastemaker Psycho Las Vegas.

In the meantime, John Slattery, who initially was added to give support as second guitarist and synth player for the band’s live shows, joined ELEPHANT TREE as a permanent member. About the same time, Riley MacIntyre decided to draw back from the band to focus on production. ELEPHANT TREE also decided to try a label closer to home, a choice which ultimately did not work out as the new label ran into trouble and left the band’s third and latest album “Habits” (2020) without the ongoing support it deserved.

During the turmoil of the global pandemic years, ELEPHANT TREE were affected and set back like everyone else. Jack Townley suffered a serious accident in early 2023, and the time needed for his recovery delayed the band again. Yet despite all of this, they put plans into motion for a return both to the stages and studio. Taking matters into their own hands, the band initiated a plan to self-release some of their material – with a little help from old friends. At long last, ELEPHANT TREE are reissuing the acclaimed “Habits” via Magnetic Eye to make it widely available once more and satisfy the continued demand.

Looking back at ten most exciting years, ELEPHANT TREE enthusiastically present ‘Handful of Ten’ containing great tunes pulled from their archive alongside the brash and blistering new tracks, ready to delight longtime followers and win over new friends to their unique brand of melodic doom: all thriller, no filler!

Australian progressive rock outfit SOULS OF AMBIENCE inked a deal with Wormholedeath Records for their highly anticipated debut album, “A 1000 Tears,” set to be unleashed on October 4th, 2024.

A Symphony of Darkness and Light

A cross between Gothic, Progressive, Acid, and Psychedelic Rock with a bit of blues thrown in, stemming from a classical English background. Their debut album ‘A 1000 Tears’ has a haunting keyboard repertoire with a complimentary lead guitar backed by a strong bass rhythm.
The lyrics are surrealistic, moving, and beautifully poetic, covering a range from social commentary, through domestic violence topics to the beyond-life ethereal.
The music evokes the subconscious, and the lyrics transcend boundaries.

A Story of Loss, Resilience, and Hope

The concept album ‘a 1000 Tears’ intricately weaves the downward spiral story of a young woman who, driven by the need to shield her sibling from their abusive stepfather, finds herself on a harrowing path. From dressing in black to confront him to escaping to Grey Street, St Kilda, her narrative unfolds amidst the stark realities of street life. The album delves into themes of loss, resilience, and spiritual transcendence, offering a poignant reflection on the profound impacts of trauma and the quest for healing and redemption.

Get a glimpse of the album’s world through the official music video for “Grey Street” (Music Video):

  2. Never Drops
  3. Summer Rain

A Supergroup of Progressive Prowess

70’s prog-rock Keyboard player GREG SNEDDON (LP ‘Mind Stroll’ on Mushroom Records) teamed up with internationally known British New Wave Metal bass player KEVIN KERSHAW (‘Valhalla’, ‘Ztormtrooper’), guitarist MAREK TABORSKY (‘Powerslave’, ‘Fifteen Minutes of Peace’, ‘The Small Victories’) and drummer CHRIS GEORGE (‘Chariot Arcana’) to form SOULS OF AMBIENCE

The Legacy of Greg Sneddon

Greg Sneddon, born in 1954 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, is a prolific composer, songwriter, and instrumentalist with a career spanning over five decades. He debuted with “Mind Stroll” in 1974 under Mushroom Records, earning acclaim for his progressive rock style reminiscent of Rick Wakeman and Peter Gabriel. Sneddon’s career flourished through performances at venues like the Crystal Ballroom and iconic festivals like Sunbury Rock Music Festival. His versatility extended to studio work, contributing to Skyhooks’ “Living in The 70’s”. In the 1980s, he delved into film scoring for ABC TV and later earned an ARIA Music Award. Sneddon’s diverse oeuvre includes solo albums like “Miles Above the Sea” and his cinematic achievement “Arrows of the Thunder Dragon”. In 2022, he co-founded ‘Souls of Ambience’, continuing his legacy of musical innovation.
