THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER will be touring in support of their tenth studio album, Servitude, set for release on September 27th via Metal Blade Records.

With the tragic passing of the band’s frontman and co-founder Trevor Strnad in 2022, band co-founder Brian Eschbach, bassist Max Lavelle, drummer Alan Cassidy, and producer/guitarist Brandon Ellis were faced with a decision: Close the door on one of the most beloved death metal bands of the last twenty years, or carry on in their fallen brother’s charismatic spirit? After a period of profound grief and deep soul-searching, Eschbach moved from guitar to vocals, setting aside his lifelong identity as a live guitarist for the survival of the band. Former THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER member Ryan Knight returned to the fold to take Eschbach’s place on guitar. The new lineup made their debut in the band’s hometown of Detroit in late October 2022 for a tribute show for Strnad.

Fast forward to right about now: THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER‘s new album is the one that many would have thought impossible. Servitude marks Eschbach’s recorded debut as THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER‘s lead vocalist and lyricist-and their first with Knight on guitar since 2015’s Abysmal. The members of THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER know that some will be skeptical of an album without Trevor’s inimitable presence. But many fans have already embraced the band’s decision to move forward.

“More than pressures or expectations from the fanbase, I feel their trust and support,” Ellis says. “We’ve always done what we do for them, and they’ve appreciated our consistency over the years. The global outcry following Trevor’s passing has shown us how important the band’s music has been to so many people, and how important it is that we continue in his honor. Under all that weight, I think we all knew what needed to be done.”

The guitars, bass, and vocals for Servitude were recorded at Ellis’ home studio in New Jersey. The drums were recorded by Mark Lewis in Nashville, Tennessee where the album was also mixed. Servitude was mastered by Ted Jensen.

SULFURIS Horrify with Sexually Tinted Single ‘Parasite and Eye’

Before taking the stage at Tuska Metal Festival 2024 on Saturday June 29th, SulfuriS is offering a taste of their upcoming debut album. The song, Parasite and Eye, out June 26th is an unabashed grindfest about a somewhat peculiar subject. It deals with a parasite that turns snails into zombies. But dare we ask. What if the snail really liked it? I mean, really liked it!?

LISTEN Parasite And Eye on streaming services: https://push.fm/fl/sulfuris-parasite – Single cover by Annika Bergström

Lyricist and SulfuriS vocalist Vincent Lilium enlightens us
“This is all absolutely horrendous but true! Leucochloridium paradoxum is a parasite that grows into a colourful shape that resembles a caterpillar. Mind you, it does this inside the poor snail. Reaching all the way up into its little eyes. It then mumics a grub by pulsating back and forth in order to attract the attention of a passing bird. The bird then spreads the ghastly thing’s eggs with its leavings. Another unsuspecting snail will then eat that waste and the whole disgusting horror show begins again. Well, in our version, we explore the idea of a snail that derives a great deal of pleasure from the experience of having an intruder thrusting their innards. The climax of which is the simultaneous death of both organisms. ‘All I want to see is you’… Sorry what? Yes, everything is quite alright at home. Thanks for asking.”

Parasite and Eye is the final single to come out in anticipation of a full-length debut album, CORPUS//ANIMUS. The record is fully independently produced, recorded at Saarni Studio and released through Inverse Records, Finland on August 2nd 2024. It will be themed around exploring the material and spiritual worlds, through the framework of alchemy. It promises to be brutal, technical, filled with catchy hooks, grandiose as well as soothing moments.

By and large, the underground is a constantly thriving realm that is always spitting out new talent on such a scale that is simply magnificent to gaze upon. When one name pops up to gain the attention of the masses, there’s a litany of others that are birthed out of the void that may become of note the future.

For many, the darkness of the underground is all they’ll ever know while some rise above it to become a massive name in their own right. Others, however, are able to gain quite the following but still find themselves absolutely thriving in the darkness of obscurity.

As one of those notorious creations, Ohio’s NOXIS has been wreaking havoc in those very shadows for a few years now, but it’s with the forthcoming album, “Violence Inherent in the System”, nothing short of staggering in every standard.

Convulsing death metal of the most sadistic sort, this is the sort of absurdity that comes for the very light of creation. Nothing is left to chance as the brand of death metal with which NOXIS wields with terrifying efficiency no matter how they go about it as the whole of the eleven tracks that adorn “Violence Inherent in the System” showcases time after time just how far this act has already come in hardly no time at all.

Where in previous works like “Expanse of Hellish Black Mire” we saw NOXIS take confident steps forward, every given moment of this creation is a tedious labor that craves only the flesh of its victims and to peel apart the souls of those caught in its clutches. As infectious as it is intense from beginning to end, this is a creation that fits perfectly within the deep crevices of the underground where only the strong survive, climb, and thrive!

Nothing can keep NOXIS from pursuing its blood-drenched destiny, not even a wild change in tone and approach that we see in the album’s finale. As far as we should be concerned, “Violence Inherent in the System” is the magnificently victorious offensive that sees NOXIS not just coming out on top, but coated in the blood of the weak as a titanic figure rises amongst the carnage.

This is but of the first assaults that NOXIS will unleash upon the masses with “Violence Inherent in the System”, and what a sight it is.

Line-up:

Ray Conde – Vocals
Dylan Cruz – Guitars and Vocals
David Kirsch – Bass
Joe Lowrie – Drums

Volcano Records & Promotion is thrilled to announce the release of ‘Engine Fault’, the new single by the eclectic Italian guitarist RICCARDO D’ATTIS, now available on all digital platforms.

Engine Fault, produced by Alessandro Liccardo (Hangarvain), is an instrumental track that combines varied and intense soundscapes. This piece narrates a moment of difficulty, a “fault in the engine” of the soul that we all encounter at some point in our lives.

Riccardo D’Attis masterfully translates this concept into unique sounds and timbral atmospheres, creating a composition rich in emotions and nuances. The young and talented guitarist, who has signed a three-single deal with Volcano Records, has already announced notable collaborations for his upcoming live performances. With influences ranging from Plini to Dream Theater, Engine Fault is a musical journey that captivates the listener from start to finish.

Riccardo D’Attis – Born on December 9, 1993, in Bordighera, Riccardo D’Attis began his musical journey at the age of 17, studying guitar as a self-taught musician. After three years, he entered the National Conservatory of Nice, where he studied contemporary music, solfeggio, arrangement, and more. Currently, he works as an electric guitar teacher and collaborates with various bands, ranging from pop to symphonic metal.
