AeSect continue their campaign of face-melting isolated singles with ‘Cease and Assist‘, the third offering, and by far, the most intense…
Following the success of the bands previous new singles, ‘Revolutionary Suicide‘ and ‘Simulacra‘, ‘Cease and Assist’ is a noticeably faster and more aggressive lean towards the bands ‘Thrash’ roots. The electrifying new single from AeSect is finally unleashed today and is a powder-keg of intensity. The band bring the listener on an adrenaline-fuelled sonic journey through the depths of human complicity and societal collapse.
Check out the official video for the track here. Please note, the video contains NSFW scenes of a distressing nature and should be viewed by people 18 years or older.
Speaking of the new single, vocalist / bassist, Aidan ‘Willow’ Williams says; “‘Cease and Assist‘ is based on the idea that we are all complicit in our inevitable destruction, and for the most part, people seem ok with it until it’s at our door step. Civil unrest, genocides, religious wars, media fanning the flames with the promise of hire ratings, meanwhile political and environmental atrocities becoming the day to day normality. The fear is by the time we’ve righted the wrongs it’ll be too late and at that point anarchy. The moral fabric of our society will cease to exist, and we will have assisted in the destruction.”
With a ferocity that leaves no room for compromise, “Cease and Assist“ propels listeners into a whirlwind of relentless Thrash riffs, and pulverising breakdowns. Building upon their signature sound, a melodic intro lulls the listener into a false sense of security as the track quickly ignites with a blistering pace, driving home the band’s unyielding commitment to sonic intensity.
At the helm of this sonic tempest are the band’s dynamic vocal deliveries, seamlessly oscillating between guttural growls and melodic refrains. This juxtaposition adds layers of depth to the lyrical narrative, weaving a tale of Anthropomorphic Destruction and humanity’s role in its own demise.
Driven by a relentless groove that punctuates the track’s explosive verses and cathartic choruses, “Cease and Assist“ stands as a testament to Willow’s uncompromising vision and unwavering passion for their craft. With its unapologetic ferocity and thought-provoking lyricism, the single serves as a rallying cry for the disenchanted and a beacon of hope for those who dare to defy the status quo.
Prepare to be swept away by the sonic onslaught of “Cease and Assist” as AeSect unleashes their latest masterpiece upon the world. Brace yourselves, for the revolution has arrived.

Swedish heavy rockers GREENLEAF reveal a sparkling lyric video for the groovy ten-ton track ‘Avalanche’ as the next single from their forthcoming full-length “The Head & The Habit”, which is scheduled for release on June 21, 2024 viaMagnetic Eye Records!
In support of “The Head & The Habit”, GREENLEAF have just announced European live dates of the “Habit of the Tundra Tour” with Norwegian desert rockers SLOMOSA and support from PSYCHLONA for autumn 2024. Please see below for all confirmed dates.
“The lyrics of this intense saga narrate a perilous journey through the night, which is plagued by blistered feet and pursued by shadowy figures causing a sense of dread”, vocalist Arvid Hällagård writes. “Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse, there is an impending avalanche that awakens both the characters and the audience. The dramatic escapade includes slipping men, voids of force, and a grave of fears, all set to the ironic background score of an ever-present choir of moaning winds. It’s a rollercoaster ride of epic proportions where even the avalanche has its own wake-up call.”
With their ninth full-length “The Head & The Habit”, GREENLEAF have reached the pinnacle of a long evolution. The musical handwriting and well-honed mastery of guitarist Tommi Holappa, who has been a pioneer and pillar of the European stoner rock scene for more than 25 years, shines clearly through. This is perfectly complemented by the soulfulness, intuitive sense of melody, and depth of character that the vocals of classically-trained singer Arvid Hällagård brings to the sound of GREENLEAF.
Apart from world-class vocal lines and massive riffs with electric fuzz-power, GREENLEAF have put extra thought into the themes of “The Head & The Habit”, which lift its lyrics far above much of the often cliché-ridden genre. As the album title implies, the new songs resemble symbolic short stories that revolve around emotional struggles and even mental illness. Written by the vocalist, the lyrics reflect real life experience as Hällagård works with people who suffer from problems with drug abuse and psychological health.

Heavy rock afficionados GREENLEAF were initially formed as an informal project by friends that were already playing in other bands including such notable names as DOZER, LOWRIDER, and DEMON CLEANER. The Swedes simply wanted an outlet for their mutual love of ’70s-era hard rock and proto-metal while being free from the expectations and pressures of their main bands.
Despite intentions to keep GREENLEAF purely for pleasure, the undiluted joy of creating catchy songs led to everyone demanding that material be recorded. This eventually resulted in the release of a self-titled debut EP in 2000, which was quickly followed by first full-length “Revolution Rock” only a year later.
With guitarist and founder Tommi Holappa firmly at the helm, the sound of GREENLEAF remained remarkably consistent throughout the years and releases that followed, even through a variety of personnel changes.
Inspired by growing popularity and the success of “Secret Alphabets” (2003) and “Agents of Ahriman” (2007), they began to shift gears in 2010, moving from “the side project that refused to die” toward something closer to a band with the release of fourth album, 2012’s “Nest of Vipers”.
Having turned from an on and off fling to a full-time love affair, the years of rotating line-ups ended and GREENLEAF‘s newfound focus and stability was crowned by their fifth album “Trails & Passes” (2014), which featured new permanent vocalist Arvid Hällagård. This milestone also marked the beginning of a new phase of the band.
Their next two full-lengths, 2016’s “Rise Above the Meadow” and 2018’s “Hear the Rivers”, won the band prime performing slots on European festival stages, while “Echoes from a Mass” (2021) reached the global streaming and European album charts – reflecting the quartet’s ever-growing popularity.
Weaving together psychedelia, hard rock, and metallic blues in a warm, serpentine mélange that leaves behind none of the punishing immediacy of their earlier recordings, today’s GREENLEAF merge road-tested tightness, swirling guitar-driven soundscapes, and captivating blues-laden vocals into one of the most reliably mesmerizing acts pushing the sonic horizons of desert rock to new frontiers.
With “The Head & The Habit”, GREENLEAF combine an awareness of past triumphs with mature craftsmanship, showcasing their confidence in how to rock stronger, harder, and more to the point than ever before. The Swedes melt thunderous riff-magic, enrapturing and soul-heavy vocals, frenetic rhythms and driving attacks into a ear-catching, sparkling alloy of hard rocking anthems!
“The Head & The Habit” will be available as a 48-page CD artbook, a digisleeve CD, and as a transparent red vinyl LP, an opaque cream white vinyl LP, and a marbled black, white & transparent green vinyl LP. Pre-order HERE!

The world’s most prominent bass-driven instrumental rock act, Australia’s The Omnific, return with their second album, The Law Of Augmenting Returns, an audacious and magnificent triumph – to be released on 7th June 2024 via Wild Thing Records.
The trio have just released their brand new face-melting track ‘Matrices’.
To the contrary, ‘Matrices’ is simplistic in its ideas than the usual thoroughfare of The Omnific, with the majority of the song based off one theme. Influenced by pop and hip hop, the track has many singalong sections, while still incorporating the complexity and technicality that The Omnific are renowned for. The Omnific’s art guru Josh Saunders lends his guitar abilities to the track, but using a Bass VI, sticking true to the fact that The Omnific’s musical realm is yet to feature a guitar.
Toby Peterson-Stewart (Bass) comments, “‘Matrices’ weaves modern cascades of thumping and slap, while embracing a futuristic soundscape. This is one of the harder songs to play for all of us respectively, it’s a great example of a song that makes us all better musicians from playing it. Also, many djent.”
The band linked up with long time associate Miki Simankevicius (Director Of Photography – Polaris, Thy Art Is Murder) to direct the stunning music video. The band’s original wild concept consisted of the group being an MP3 file on a USB stick, with Simankevicius taking things one step further – “We took the whole concept literally by leveraging new Unreal Engine 5 technology. This allowed us to physically have the band performing on a circuit board, and resulted in a completely unique and fun viewing experience.”
The Omnific will be trailblazing their way through Europe & the UK, heading on their first ever summer festival run, alongside their most extensive array of headline shows in Europe to date. They’ll be making highly anticipated debut appearances at festivals; RADAR (UK), Vagos (PT), Brutal Assault (CZ), Arctangent (UK), and Fekete Zaj (HU). Led by their two other-worldly intertwining bassists, Matt Fack & Toby Peterson-Stewart, and backed by flamboyant drummer Jerome Lematua, The Bass Boys will be bringing a full tank of charisma, showmanship, and unbelievable technical performances from down under.
