PORONIEC Release Debut Album “W Połogu”, MGŁA’s The Fall on Drums

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 17, 2024
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: PORONIEC. 1 Comment

Poroniec was born in 2016, during a rehearsal of another band, from our shared need to free ourselves from the burden of society’s expectations. One night of drinking led to many nights of sending each other listening materials and later on, recording first versions of the songs in Ferment’s home studio.

Poroniec in Slavic Demonology is mighty Demon raised from the soul of child who died before birth by intentional procedures performed by women to miscarry. It was believed that unborn child is motivated by envy because it did not have time to enjoy life. This envy was compared to the one that was observed during casting bad spells.

Drums for the album were recorded by The Fall (Mgła, Owls Woods Graves) in No Solace studio (Deus Mortem, Graveland, Mgła) and the rest in TRIPlets Audio by Ferment, who was also responsible for the album’s production, mix and mastering. The cover art was made by Maciej Kamuda (Blut aus Nord, Kalt Vindur, Stillborn). Guest vocals were performed by Hekte Zaren (Adaestuo) and Harvest (Outre).

Wrzaskun & Ferment about this record: “The album is a 52 minute long tale of humankind’s repugnant existence woven as a testament to our belief that albums should be listened to from their beginnings to their ends.“

Album “W Połogu” was released March 15, 2024 digitally on all major platforms as well as Bandcamp and as jewelcase CD via Polish underground label Putrid Cult (pre-order).

Iterum Nata, the project by Jesse Heikkinen (The Abbey, Henget, ex-Hexvessel) is releasing the brand new album ´From the Infinite Light´ today via Nordvis. In celebration of the release, the artist also premieres a new music video for the song The Drifter, which can be found at the link below.

Listen to ´From the Infinite Light´ here – Buy the album in the Nordvis Store.

Jesse comments: “From the Infinite Light” is a concept album exploring the birth of Darkness and Death. The narrative unfolds through two voices; ‘Darkness’, born from the Infinite or Limitless Light – a concept borrowed from Qabbalah to explain cosmic genesis – and a desperate man unraveling his destiny as he descends into madness. Eventually, the man merges with Darkness, together embodying Death.

In the wake of his critically acclaimed 2023 album, “Trench of Loneliness”, Jesse embarks on a bold foray across the boundaries between folk music, black and doom metal, neo-folk, and progressive rock, orchestrating a symphony where every note is a harbinger of both darkness and light.

Delving into the abyss of the human psyche, the album chronicles the odyssey of a desperate soul seeking refuge in the shadows of his inner chaos, eventually finding a sombre embrace in the darkness borne from his disintegrating sanity.

  3. A Manifested Nightmare [WATCH HERE]

  6. A Darkness Within [LISTEN HERE]
  7. Something Truly Almighty
  8. The Crown of All

In the wake of his critically acclaimed 2023 album, “Trench of Loneliness”, Jesse Heikkinen (The Abbey, Henget, ex-Hexvessel) embarks on a bold foray across the boundaries between folk music, black and doom metal, neo-folk, and progressive rock, orchestrating a symphony where every note is a harbinger of both darkness and light.

As twelve-string and six-string acoustic guitars weave a cloak of folky serenity, tremolo-picked electric guitars inject black metal mysticism, forging a sound that’s as distinctive as it is immersive. Fusing the brooding narratives of Nick Cave, the avant-garde creativity of Dødheimsgard, and the spectral chants of Dead Can Dance, “From the Infinite Light” is a beckoning path into a world where the melancholy of introspection meets the rage of existence.

“From the Infinite Light” was produced, recorded, and mixed by Jesse Heikkinen at Studio Beyond North Star. The album features guest appearances by Matron Thorn (Ævangelist, Benighted in Sodom), Rob Coffinshaker (The Coffinshakers), as well as renowned author and occultist Richard Kaczynski.

With “From the Infinite Light”, Iterum Nata transitions from a solitary journey to a collective venture, featuring a full band setup that augments the weight and breadth of the project’s soundscape, marking this as its most ambitious and heaviest work to date.

Delving into the abyss of the human psyche, the album narrates the odyssey of a desperate soul seeking refuge in the shadows of his inner chaos, eventually finding a sombre embrace in the darkness borne from his disintegrating sanity.

AS I MAY Release New Music Video ‘The Last Breath’

Scared of clowns or abandoned houses in the middle of the woods? Well… Finland’s AS I MAY is back with a killer video for their new single “The Last Breath” that will give you that much-needed horror fix. Combining modern low riffs with a little taste of deathcore plus synths that bring horror sweeps and atmosphere, As I May’s “horrorcore” sound delivers a catchy sing-along chorus to this chaos.

Vocalist/guitarist Lasse Hiltunen adds:

“This video was new territory for us. We shot in 3D and green screens. We thought that we could get that same atmosphere from the video that is in the song with lyrics such as “‘urn down the house’. Basically, the main idea came from that phrase and we needed a reason to burn a house, and have some murderous clowns. Let’s try those in there too. This video came out much more scarier than we thought.”

“The Last Breath” is the first single and title track off their yet-to-be-released third LP that was mixed and mastered by Christoph Wieczorek at Sawdust Recordings.

Spotify – https://spoti.fi/49hySUB

The band is known for big melodies, huge choruses, and hard-hitting riffs. As I May is one of the front-running acts in the new wave of Finnish metal bands being exported. Touring all over Europe, they have made a name for themselves along with over a million streams for their albums ‘Karu’ (2022) (Uprising Records) and ‘My Own Creations’ (2019) (Rock Shots Records, Spiritual Beast “Japan”).

With Deicide’s special Decibel Magazine Metal & Beer Fest headlining set only a month away, Decibel is honored to reveal an exclusive beer collaboration between the Florida death metal legends and the Indiana craft beer institution 3 Floyds. The Light Defeated—named after the closing track from Deicide’s forthcoming new album, Banished by Sin (out April 26 on Reigning Phoenix Music)—will make its pouring debut on April 12-13 at the Philadelphia edition of Decibel’s long-running extreme metal and craft beer event.

Decibel writes, “Prepare for a high-gravity dose of bourbon barrel discipline on April 12-13, 2024, when Decibel Magazine Metal & Beer Fest: Philly—the world’s loudest, heaviest, two-day craft beer event—returns to the Fillmore Philly to deliver more lunatics of quad’s libation for its seventh year! Florida death metal forebears Deicide will close out the second evening via a special set comprised exclusively of early ’90s crushers from their landmark Deicide, Legion and Once Upon the Cross records.”

About DEICIDE:

Originating from the depths of Tampa, Florida in 1989, DEICIDE were conjured by Steve Asheim and Glen Benton. Rising to infamy with their second album, Legion, they have since become a monolithic figure in the death metal universe. Their catalog of destruction includes twelve studio albums, a live album, two compilations, and two live DVD’s. Notably, their first two albums, Deicide and Legion, stand as monumental achievements in death metal sales. DEICIDE, notorious for their relentless assault on the senses and unapologetic brutality, are on the verge of unleashing their thirteenth album – a testament to their undying legacy in crafting the most punishing soundscapes in death metal.
