Kurt Deimer’s newest single, “Dance,” released on March 1, 2024, is a testament to resilience and the ability to find inspiration in challenging circumstances. The single is a precursor to his highly anticipated debut album, And So It Begins.., slated for release later this year.

Kurt unveiled the eagerly awaited music video, a visual masterpiece captured against the stunning backdrop of a Los Angeles rooftop. Directed by the visionary Kurt Deimer himself, the video seamlessly weaves together captivating imagery and dynamic visuals.

STREAM “DANCE” HERE

Kurt comments about the single, “I boarded a Southwest flight in January of 2022. It was a last minute flight, and I was crammed against a window for a 4 plus hours. I convinced myself to endure this flight I was gonna to write a killer song.”

He continues, “’Dance’ is about life. It has its ups and downs. Life can be quiet and serene. Then it can be turbulent and stormy. It can create a war within your mind, heart and soul. We all have to teach ourselves to dance through the good and bad in life. Enjoy life. Embrace life, escape negativity before it consumes us. Writing this song helped me escape a bad situation on this flight. I did not let the circumstances consume me. I wrote ‘Dance’ to get me through it.”

Kurt’s resilience in converting a challenging situation into a creative triumph exemplifies the transformative power of music. “Dance” is a reminder to cherish life’s moments and embrace positivity.

In support of the single, Kurt is currently on tour with solo headline performances and special appearances alongside the legendary band, Tesla.

The tour announcement follows Deimer’s recent successful single release “Doom,” which captivated audiences worldwide with its innovative sound and soul-stirring lyrics. In a world that seems to be spiraling out of control, Kurt Deimer is a man with a very clear mission: Work Hard, Rock Hard, Play hard and Spread positivity. In fact, his mantra could be summed up: “Take the high road, do the right thing, encourage others.” It sounds like a tall order these days in a world full of warring factions. And it’s an unusual mission for a singer/songwriter vocalist whose music could be described as hard rock, even heavy metal – genres that are not always synonymous with positivity.

Deimer, for his part, describes his work as good old fashioned rock and roll. “And it’s as good a vehicle as any for spreading good vibes” he says. “I’m here to encourage others to treat people with respect, dignity and kindness,” he says. “I’ve been through a lot of things in my life and I try to share that with others and be a beacon of hope for my listeners.”

That positivity and perseverance has paid off for the native of Cincinnati, Ohio. He’s not only launched a movie franchise, Hellbilly Hollow, by filming and starring in a feature length horror film of the same name. He’s also recorded more than two dozen songs with legendary producer Chris Lord-Alge (Green Day, James Brown and the Rolling Stones), his management team includes Brian Wheat, manager of TESLA who discovered him while opening for TESLA.

Chris Lord-Alge says he was drawn to Kurt’s originality as an artist. “I saw something completely different in Kurt, and that was the lure for me. He isn’t a typical rock or country artist – I love hearing him talk and narrating a story, and I was drawn to taking those stories and helping turn them into music. He’s a personality, he’s someone you want to talk to.”

Things have not always been positive in Deimer’s world. At age 20, as a young rock vocalist, he found himself in the grips of drug addiction. He later discovered he was using substances to medicate an underlying anxiety condition. At that young age, he quit drugs, got help for his anxiety and never looked back.

He eventually started buying and selling rental properties and used that money to start the first of several successful companies he owns. Despite making his mark in the business world, Deimer didn’t feel ready to settle down and “join the country club and play golf all day” – so at an age when most people start thinking about slowing down, he started to speed up.

Inspired by the artists that helped shape him – Boston, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bob Marley and AC/DC, to name just a few – he started writing song lyrics.

Inspired by his love of movies and acting roles in films including the 2018 ‘Halloween’ remake – where his character was killed by Michael Myers – and John Travolta’s ‘Trading Paint,’ he started hashing out a movie concept that became his eventual Hellbilly Hollow feature film and franchise.

Deimer has supported Geoff Tate on an expansive cross-country tour that highlighted material from his debut EP, that came out on November 19, 2021, which includes a duet with Tate and a trilogy of music videos directed by Scottish filmmaker Paul Boyd [Sting, Deadmau5, The Cult] that spotlight Deimer’s cinematic vision and charismatic presence. Along with many other supporting shows including TESLA, Drowning Pool and Yngwie Malmsteen all this within the first two years of touring.

For Deimer, the inspiration is to make the world a better place one song at a time, singing about the ills of the 21st century and offering solutions instead of excuses. “When people listen to my music, I want to help them decompress and feel better after a brutal day. That’s what music always did for me, and that’s what we need more of today.”

BRODEQUIN Release Tormented New Single ‘Harbinger of Woe’

Brodequin know their history. As with the rest of the band’s brutal discography, their new album, Harbinger of Woe was inspired by medieval times. But while its first two singles wielded fresh instruments of torture, the title track cracks into the psychology of a trained killer.

Harbinger of Woe comes out March 22, 2024.

Pre-order: https://shop.season-of-mist.com/list/brodequin-harbinger-of-woe
Pre-save: https://brodequin.fanlink.tv/HarbingerOfWoe

“Harbinger of Woe” delivers plenty of punishment. Brennan Shackelford flails his drum kit with the pinging precision of a dungeon master. But the song isn’t inhumane. After all, someone was responsible for administering these historic beatings. Heck, back in the Middle Ages, executioners were considered a necessary evil.

“He is despised and rejected / feared by most members of society”, Jamie Bailey gurgles as if bound and gagged by his own microphone.

Sure, it’s not painless. But when being dragged to the gallows, all anyone can hope for is someone to put them out of their misery quick and easy. When the breakdown hits, Mike Bailey’s riff comes slicing in like a guillotine.

“In many ways, the title track is representative of the whole album”, Brodequin says. “‘Harbinger of Woe’ uses several quotes that capture the violent mindset of the Medieval Period. But lyrically, we’re also trying to portray an expert in his craft, who’s well-acquainted with being shunned from society, along with all the other negative aspects of his profession. If you found yourself in this unfortunate position, you’d want this highly skilled professional to put you down as quickly and efficiently as possible”.

Early praise for Harbinger of Woe

” Like the sonic version of some chemical weapon banned by international law…it’s non-stop, it’s unrelenting, and it’s brutal as fuck – Metal Sucks

“Absolutely crushing…equal parts driving death metal and slamming brutality” – Metal Injection

“Raw and guttural as ever” – Decibel

Tracklist
1. Diabolical Edict (3:29)
2. Fall Of The Leaf (2:33)
3. Theresiana (3:03)
4. Of Pillars and Trees (4:03) [WATCH]
5. Tenaillement (2:53)
6. Maleficium (3:09)
7. VII Nails (2:17)
8. Vredens Dag (3:20)
9. Suffocation in Ash (3:05) [LISTEN]
10. Harbinger of Woe (4:04) [LISTEN]

“Among the myriad methods employed, a prominent example was the affixing of an individual to a pillar, or, more commonly, a tree trunk through the use of long iron nails”.

That’s Jamie Bailey, talking in true Brodequin fashion about the very first single from Harbinger of Woe.

Watch the medieval video for “Of Pillars and Trees”, which was created by Matti Way of From the North Films: https://youtu.be/yh7awqeuZJQ

Their second single only cranks up the torment, but the source material for “Suffocation in Ash” dates all the way back to ancient Persian history.

“Basically, the victim, who’s held in a tower that’s specifically designed for this sort of thing, is immersed in ash”,  Jamie explained.

After signing with Season of Mist in 2022, Brodequin re-issued their entire discography on LP and CD.

“Relentless, barbaric intensity” – John Gallagher (Dying Fetus), who named Instruments of Torture one of the most brutal albums ever.

“Kicks in like a sledgehammer” – Metal Rage raved over Methods of Execution

“A merciless massacre” – Power Metal praised Festival of Death.

The Middle Ages might’ve brought the world out of The Dark Ages. But for every compass or printing press, those enlightened thinkers were also responsible for inventing the most torturous devices in human history. None were more brutal than the brodequin. Not only did the French use this instrument to cripple their victims, but to squeeze their legs to the point where bone marrow would spill out of their wounds.

You could say the same about Brodequin. The band come with their own long and sordid history. Brothers Jamie and Mike Bailey have been playing brutal death metal since 1998. Putting his history degree to good use, Jamie’s lyrics are inspired by real historical events, staying true to death metal’s core thematic pillars of dismemberment, torture, abuse and murder. But their artwork broke from genre’s generic splatter illustrations by digging into intricate period woodcuts and beautifully grotesque oil paintings.

“There simply was no point in history that was more brutal than the medieval period,” says Jamie. “At the same time that such barbarity was deployed, there was also an explosion in fine art, architecture and music. It all comes to feed our identity as a band”.

Brodequin’s first album catapulted them far beyond their kingdom of Knoxville. “This band has stuck out in the underground with relentless, barbaric intensity”, says Dying Fetus’ vocalist and guitarist John Gallagher, who named Instruments of Torture one of the most brutal death metal albums ever. Festival of Death put another flesh-tearing arrow in their quiver (“Some of the fastest, most brutalizing death metal ever recorded” – Sputnik Music). But after sieging festival stages across Europe with Methods of Execution, the band had to be put on ice.

“We had a series of deaths in our family”, Jamie explains. “Mike and I knew we had to step away until we had the time and were at a place mentally to give Brodequin the attention it deserved.”

Now, after 20 years of peaceful silence, Brodequin have returned with fresh instruments of torture. The Brothers Bailey are back with a new drummer, a new label and their long-awaited fourth album.

“Brodequin had been away for so long that I was stunned by the level of interest from fans and record labels”, Jamie says. “Before playing Hellfest, the band was approached backstage by a metalhead rocking a Brodequin t-shirt who happened to work for Season of Mist. Soon enough, they were hitting it off with Michael Berberian. The rest, as they say, is history.

“We all hung out for hours”, recalls Jamie. “The extraordinary level of enthusiasm shown toward our music made Season of Mist the obvious choice”.

As has been the case with this band for their entire career, Harbinger of Woe lives up to its name. Lead single “Of Pillars and Trees” is classic Brodequin. Mike’s distorted guitar chords churn like limbs through a meat grinder. The way Brennan Shackelford pings, blasts and flays his snare through “Suffocation in Ash” with the all encompassing speed of a sandstorm. Jamie’s growls are so phlegmy, so rotted, that to drag them out from whatever dark bowel movement spawned them would make an executioner sick to their stomach. And yet — somewhere deep inside all that carnage hides a terrifying beauty. The title track leaves you deaf, dumb and blind, begging on your knees in the face of a punishing, almighty riff.

“This album is a journey into this lost period of history where brutality and beauty coexist. Beauty, in the arts the were created, but also the beautiful brutality that was needed to engineer deadly devices like the brodequin”.

With Harbinger of Woe, Brodequin reclaim their throne as the most brutal band in all of death metal.

NECROPHAGIA – Feat. Incantation’s John McEntee – Share Album’s Title Track ‘Moribundis Grim’

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 11, 2024

After many years of silence, the legendary death metal force of NECROPHAGIA, one of the very first death metal acts, has reawakened. The band’s revamped line-up have signed to Time To Kill Records for the release of their final album, “Moribundis Grim”.

Today, NECROPHAGIA return with their first new song in many years. Stream the album’s title-track, “Moribundis Grim”, at THIS LOCATION.

The album is set to be released on May 10th 2024.

Guitarist Serge Streltsov commented:

“‘Moribundis Grim’ is a song I co-wrote with Killjoy and Shawn back in 2017. Shawn had a couple riffs that I ended up adding to and making a whole song. Killjoy took care of the lyrics. Unfortunately, Killjoy passed away in the middle of tracking the vocals for this song; it was never finished vocally until John (McEntee) stepped in to finish it. Killjoy and John were great friends so it made perfect sense to bring him along”.

In the years of 2016-2018, the band’s last line-up – Killjoy, Serge Streltsov, Shawn Slusarek and Jake Arnette – composed and started recording what became their final opus,“Moribundis Grim”.

Unfortunately, in 2018 Killjoy passed away before finishing the album. In 2022 with the help of special guests and former NECROPHAGIA members – John McEntee from Incantation, Titta Tani (ex Goblin) and Mirai Kawashima from Sigh – the album was finally completed.

In a way, it is quite sensational to see another NECROPHAGIA album released at this point in time, meaning 40 years after their first demos were released!

Serge Streltsov adds:

“‘Moribundis Grim’ is Killjoy’s final album. These are his last vocal performances. The album features the last Necrophagia live line up: Killjoy Desade, Serge Streltsov, Shawn Slusarek and Jake Arnette, along with special guest John McEntee and previous members Titta Tani and Mirai Kawashima. These songs are the demos the band and Killjoy worked on up until Killjoy’s passing. Also featuring re-worked versions of songs from the first album and a Samhain cover. Once again the bastard children of horror and gore capture the true essence of what Necrophagia is all about. Killjoy and Fulci Live! Gore Forever!”.

Completed from a remote creative exchange, with ideas being bounced back and forth between all members to create an eight-track barrage of death metal, “Moribundis Grim” is an incredible achievement.

Tracklist:

01. House By The Cemetery (Cover)
02. Moribundis Grim
03. Bleeding Torment
04. Mental Decay
05. Halloween 3 (Samhain cover)
06. The Wicked (Live)
07. Scarecrows
08. Sundown

Album line-up:

Killjoy Desade – Lead Vocals
Serge Streltsov – Guitars, Bass
Shawn Slusarek- Drums
Jake Arnette- Bass

Titta Tani – Drums, Backing Vocals
Mirai Kawashima- Keys
John McEntee – Guest Vocals
Dee Commisso – Keys

NECROPHAGIA are a seminal band of the early 80s and are considered, along with Possessed and Death, one of the founding groups of death metal.
NECROPHAGIA was formed in late 1983 by the Godfather of Gore Metal, Killjoy and their debut recording “Season of the Dead” was unleashed in February 1987. In the same year the Americans split despite their tremendous impact in the underground death metal scene, which they helped founding. In the middle of the 1990’s horror fan Philip Anselmo (PANTERA, DOWN) convinced Killjoy to resurrect NECROPHAGIA and joined for the next three releases including their second album “Holocausto de la Morte” (1998). The band released two more albums including “The Divine Art of Torture” (2003) and several EPs despite undergoing continued line-up changes. NECROPHAGIA‘s fourth full length “Harvest Ritual Vol. 1” (2005) saw some experimentation, while their next eerie incarnation “Deathtrip 69” featured more evil movie samples adding to the beloved vintage horror feeling. In 2014, the time came to light the black candles, chant the incantations and watch the “WhiteWorm Cathedral” rise which, without anybody knowing, would be the band’s latest offering, as Killjoy passed away on March 18, 2018.

Bernie Marsden Feat. Jamie Kyle’s Stunning Single ‘Invisible’ Out Now

The recently released single ‘Invisible’, a huge, singalong rock n roll tune written by Bernie Marsden & featuring Jamie Kyle on vocals is out now, and is receiving critical acclaim across the board.

Having earlier played guitar on a track for her new album, Bernie wrote ‘Invisible’ with Jaime Kyle and was delighted when he heard her fine vocal performance on the track. The track is now released as the final Bernie Marsden single and is accompanied by a brilliant video that also features Jaime Kyle. The video was created by Berny Kellerer for Rocktopia.co.uk and imaginatively fuses footage of Bernie Marsden with a superb vocal performance by Jaime Kyle.

Jaime tells us her feelings about working with Bernie:
“Co-writing and singing “Invisible” with Bernie Marsden was some kind of angel magic. It’s an unstoppable song. The track and lyrics he sent me were inspiring. We both knew what adversity felt like growing up. Bernie is an icon and could have gotten anyone to sing lead on “Invisible”.  The way things unfolded no-one could have guessed. We worked together on two different continents, and we never even got to meet each other in person. I feel privileged that he invited me to work with him on what turned out to be his legacy album. And that’s how you can have love for someone you’ve never even met.”

There has been a huge outpouring of loving tributes to Bernie Marsden since he passed away peacefully in 2023, and the  legacy he leaves will live on through the fabulous body of work he created.

Jaime Kyle has been a recording artist since the 1990s achieving success with 3 albums before her career took a turn which saw her become hot property as a hit songwriter. Jaime wrote Wild One, with which Faith Hill achieved her first Billboard #1. Kyle also wrote songs recorded by a host of artists including Heart, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Joe Dee Messina.

Jaime’s latest album ‘Wild One‘ includes Not About Love, on which Bernie Marsden laid down exquisite guitars.  Other guests on the album include Luke Morley, Kris Barras and Howard Leese.

Jaime is touring Europe in April and will be appearing in the UK at FIREFEST in Manchester on October 12th, where ‘Invisible’ will be an emotional tribute to the wonderful Bernie Marsden.

Following last year’s Death Wish Blues UK Tour with Jesse Dayton, celebrated American blues rock guitarist Samantha Fish returns to the UK in October 2024 for her 10-date Bulletproof Headline Tour.

Planet Rock’s 48-hour ticket pre-sale starts 10am GMT on Wednesday 13 March via planetrock.com.

Tickets go on general sale 10am GMT on Friday 15th March via www.alttickets.com, www.gigantic.com, www.ticketmaster.co.uk (Edinburgh show), & www.samanthafish.com.

“I am thrilled to tour the UK in October,” says Samantha. UK audiences are incredible.”

Samantha was recently Grammy-nominated for “Contemporary Blues Album of the Year” for her collaboration with Jesse Dayton on Death Wish Blues. This month, Total Guitar Magazine voted Samantha as one of the “Top 100 Greatest Blues Guitarists” of all-time.

Samantha will play a selection of songs from her entire catalogue of albums including Wild Heart, Chills & Fever, Belle of the West, Death Wish Blues, Faster, and Kill Or Be Kind (the latter features the fan favourite, Bulletproof).

After launching her recording career in 2009, Samantha established herself as a rising star in the contemporary blues world. The charismatic singer-guitarist-songwriter has earned a reputation as a guitar hero and a powerful live performer, while releasing a series of acclaimed albums that have shown her restless creative spirit consistently pushing her in new, exciting, and often unexpected musical directions.

The New York Times called Fish, “An impressive blues guitarist who sings with sweet power,” and “One of the genre’s most promising young talents.” Her hometown paper, the Kansas City Star wrote: “Samantha Fish has kicked down the door of the patriarchal blues club and displays more imagination and creativity than some blues veterans exhibit over the course of their careers.”

Samantha believes her musical future is an open road. “I’m never going be a traditional blues artist, because that’s not who I am,” she says. “But it’s all the Blues for me. When Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf came out, what they were doing didn’t sound like anything that had been done in Blues before. You’ve got to keep that kind of fire and spirit. I’m never going to do Muddy Waters better than Muddy Waters, so I try to be who I am, and in doing that, I find my best voice.”

HERO IN ERROR to Release Self Titled EP on April 5th

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 11, 2024
Posted in: Int. News, News. Tagged: HERO IN ERROR. Leave a comment

Following the release of their crushing new single ‘Enemy Within’, Hero In Error are back with the their first studio release since 2017’s ‘Obey’ EP. Official release date 05.04.24

With a four year hiatus now behind them, the five-piece are pleased to present their self-titled EP ‘Hero In Error‘ featuring three blistering new tracks, including lead single, ‘Enemy Within’.

Featuring Kaan Tasan (Heart of a Coward) on vocals, guitarist’s Gary Reagan and Rob Powderly, bassist Jay Doyle and drummer, Stephen Reilly, the blistering new energy form the band is evident when experiencing the all consuming power of the three-track EP.

Their journey began with the release of their debut EP produced by Justin Hill, “The High Points of New Lows,” in 2010, a project that captured the attention of the local metal scene, and led to their signing with Mediaskare Records in the U.S. the following year.

Speaking of the last single, ‘Enemy Within’ guitarist, Rob Powerly says; “Enemy Within is one of those songs that just happened organically for us. We stumbled upon a riff that sounded cool, and from there, the rest of the song fell into place effortlessly. While we did make some adjustments during the guitar tracking process, the essence of the song remained unchanged since we first demoed it. Interestingly, it ended up being the last song we wrote for the EP. It’s an absolute blast to play, and we’re excited to share it with everyone”.

Vocalist, Kaan Tasan adds; “The lyrics are based around battling your own self-doubt/negative self-talk, and how we hide behind a veneer or mask just to get through the day to day. The song also addresses the pain, suffering and frustration that this self-negativity causes”.

Check out the official video for ‘Enemy Within’ here.

Alongside this achievement, the band also earned the opportunity to support established acts like Mastodon, Parkway Drive, Architects, and The Ghost Inside. The addition of Rob Powderly in 2011, further solidified the band’s lineup. Despite a promising start, Hero in Error encountered a challenging phase with member changes, leading to a hiatus from 2013 to 2016. This interlude, however, was not the end but a prelude to a resurgence. The band re-emerged with renewed vigor introducing vocalist Kaan Tasan (Heart of a Coward).

Their return was marked by the release of “Hollow Truth” in 2016, and was soon followed by the 2017 EP, “Obey”. These releases were not just a continuation, but a reinvention, showcasing a band that had matured and evolved in their sound.

HERO IN ERROR are
Robert Powerdly – Guitar
Kaan Tasan – Vocals
Gary Regan – Guitars
Jay Doyle – Bass
Stephen Reilly – Drums
